@Wandering_nomad_forever-xl7uq wow, I spend a lot less then that and live great. I have a 3 bedroom 3 bath apartment for now with weaker dollar, $400 a month fully air conditioning. In stratus 6. With rent, utilities, food, uber 3 trips a day, and $180 a month for school for a 6 year old. Going out for a nice stake dinner once a week. Maybe around $1500, take away the dinners out. 1200 a month
Your content is honest and very very informative. What you do is very important for those of us who are either travelers at heart or potential overseas retirees. Your monthly expense values of $1500 are really spot on for many of us who are looking to retire or relocate to columbia. Also, I am glad that you exclude discussion of the fuss related to crazy nightlife. Keep it real my friend.
Thanks for watching! I will say this was last year so there's some adjustments for inflation. But yes it's very affordable to live in Colombia especially Cali. Yeah I'm not a big nightlife guy, sure I like to go out and enjoy. But I don't really highlight this on my channel.

I've lived in Latin America for the past 2 and a half years, and I have spent a lot of time here in Colombia. I miss Cali a lot, although I do love Medellín. But you can't deny the charm of Cali I love it a lot!

@@explorequipo I traveled all around Colombia for 2 years and ended up here in CALI ... just fell in love with the uniqueness of the city. The food, the weather, the people and the Caleñas are awsome !!
Walking thru Chipichape, Fun Place on the Weekends.. learned to stay away from Casino across from Mc Donald's.
Oh yeah, I've never been in a casino in Colombia ever. And I don't plan to go either. Chipichape is a very fun place to go.
Cali is way better than Medellin .

Sounds like you have made Cali your home. I definitely miss those prices. LOL
Although I've noticed that prices have gone up a little, Colombia is still one of the cheapest country to live comfortably that I have visited.
Well I haven't made Cali home yet, there's still some other cities that I have in mind. But I will do another video once I compare to some other cities. Yeah I think I was telling prices more or less from the Granada area, but I did say you could spend less than what I'm spending or more it really will just depend on the person. Because I know a few guys that spend $2, 000 or more a month just because they want more luxury accommodation. But definitely it's stillvery inexpensive to live here. But hahaha I ended up spending more time in Cali for a few reasons lol

Friends, for the most part in particular. But also I have a good set up in Granada. But I have plans to go back to Medellín really soon. And then I'll be going to another city after that. I would say Cali is definitely in the running for a possible landing spot, but there's one city that is definitely at the top for me now. But I will say I never considered living in Cali until I came back this time around it really grew on me.

Hi, south Cali, near Cuidad Jardin mall is actually more expensive, where a lot of the upper middle-class families live. Very green, lots of great restaurants too.

I pay $ 500-550 a month. It pay for everything plus a $90 phone in the states. I live as a local lives in stata 5.
Oh nice, I'm in a strata 5 too. But I do more eating out and Starbucks everyday which is something that I need to quit. But I still don't go over budget. But I would like to spend less, which is doable
I like the way to walk around. I have this "philosophy" of lack of a better word is that whenever i move to an area, it's best to to go with the "grain" or flow of the city to really fit in even if when don't look like the people around. You seem to follow that same "philosophy'.
Yeah this area really has grown on me a lot, and it's at a point where people at certain places recognize. Also I speak with a lot of people in building because they see me so much. So maybe more than any other place I've been I haven't ventured out much in Cali I really like this area a lot. And it's made me a little more comfortable with being a part of a community. I usually always feel like a visitor, but I've been in one apartment the entire time I've been in Cali.
@@explorequipo Yeah...that makes a huge difference - familiarity. Even when I went back to Laureles, it felt like home because i knew where everything was.
Yeah I wished I would have stayed in Laureles the entire time I was in Medellín. I stayed there on month. Speaking of which I think it's way past time to start releasing Medellín footage

i plan to travel to Cali and Bogota around august for 2 weeks. where can i get a safe place to stay and what should i pay for 2 weeks. also what app should i use for an uber and money conversion? do you have links for the app.
Well in Cali you want to look in the north... Granada, El Peñón, and Chipichape areas, in Bogota Chapinero close to Zona T, they're some good areas around the city center but I would look near Zona T. As far as apps to use you can use Uber, Didi, Cabify, and just look on Airbnb for accomodations

I dont live in cali all the time, but do have a luxury apartment, 3 bedroom 3 bath 1200 sqft. Pay 400 a month with at least 4 security guards onduty 24/7. Stratum 6.

I am from Cali, in my 50s. I am mot spendeing 5 bucs on a meal. 😂😂😂 i spend more like 10 to 20. I guess that depends on your age and how much you pay attention to your diet.
Well that's true as well. I was only giving examples, but I've too spent 10 to 20 bucks on meals in Cali too, and I do in other parts of Colombia as well. But I also said I eat a lot at home too so I don't always eat out.

Well I have good friends in Cali, but I'm also considering going back to Medellín. But I also plan to go to some other cities too. I've actually spent time a few places in Colombia but since I'm in Cali I figured I'd talk about my experiences here.
I also decided to settled in Cali instead of Medellin, I think the potential of Cali to become a turist destination is huge. I bought an apartment in El Peñon neighborhood (next to San Antonio) and it has appreciated a lot, like 35 %.. I rent in AirB&B every now and then and make really good money.
What type of work do you do what you have to give up what’s the name of the field you’re in if you can give me the name specifically that would be a great help and I will appreciate it thank you great video
