      @SalvoG  2 года назад

      Interesting, does he mention why

    • @traci3422
      @traci3422 2 года назад

      Plant has a passion for Morocco and the people and their music. Song was inspired by his many trips to Morocco (even though Kashmir is in India). He took a journey in the Atlas Mountains and across Sahara in Southern Morocco. That journey is reflected in his lyrics. He still says it is his favorite place to travel to.
      The music of the Middle East is also reflected in Kashmir especially with Jones’ playing the Mellotron.

    There's no specific backstory for the lyrics other than trying to write a sultry, sensual, blues jam and I believe they succeeded. This was recorded live in the studio without a lot of overdubbing and Jimmy nailed the solo in one take. If you listen to this again, and listen closely, you'll be able to hear John Bonham's drum pedal squeaking. Jimmy often liked to leave "mistakes" intact because he wanted the listener to feel like they were there with the band while they were recording, however, he said he never noticed the squeak when first recorded.

    Straight up blues. Bonzo has been known to throw in some jazz now and then. I don’t know of any back story to this song, but I think it’s the first fully blues song they wrote instead of covered. You came into the Zeppelin thing from album 4, instead of from the first album and developing a relationship , so to speak, with the music. I think this song is the last song on album three. You might do some of the early music, which was a lot of blues and some heavy rock. The first song on the first album, “Good Times, Bad Times” is a nice song. “You Shook Me” is a great old blues song. “Communications Breakdown” is heavier rock. “Dazed and Confused” is kind of a mixture of both. The whole first and second albums are really great. On the second, “Heartbreaker”, “Ramble On”, “Whole Lotta Love” “The Lemon Song” are all great.

    I personally don't have a channel, but I follow several and from what I've seen and heard there's a few options for getting the video out. 1. Obscure it some with a filter (fastest way)
    2. Make a fair use claim. Takes a while but usually gets released. Some actually post the fair use act at the beginning, not sure that works.
    There's a guy that has a video on getting them released.

    Great song. Definitely blues infused rock. I love Stairway but it's not my favorite. I do, however, recommend listening to the studio version. In fact, I recommend always listening to the studio versions of their songs before listening to a live performance. There are a couple of reasons I say that, but I think the most important is that you can't hear all of the intricacies (neither instrumentally nor vocally) that they intended for us to hear, and just what makes them so very unique to the world of rock music even to this day, unless you listen to the recorded versions. Next up? So many to choose from but I'll recommend "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You" again. I think that you'd enjoy it. Rock on! :)

      @@SalvoG I'll be interested to hear what you think. It's more on the "folk" infused rock end of things, but I think you'll like it anyway. ;)
      "Whole Lotta Love" is considered early metal, so would also be interested in your reaction if you get around to it.
      It's always a toss up for me as to which I like better, but they're both on my top ten list of favorite Zep songs.

    • @jmar7631
      @jmar7631 2 года назад

      @@JuniorFarquar Well, we differ on that topic. I gave my reasons based on Page's incredible production genius, and that much of what we hear on studio versions they couldn't replicate live. I do love live, but to first get to know LZ, still think studio is the way to go. Also a Led head since '69. ;) BTW, as it turned out, Salvo enjoyed the studio version of SWTH much more than the live version when he finally got to hearing it. It's good to hear both and let the listener decide which they like best.

    As far as the blocking goes. It seems almost random who and what gets blocked. I have seen this video without any pauses at all be posted and reacted to with no problem. Stairway is the most popular song in rock history but I and many other Zepp fans believe it's far from their best song. To be honest, I probably like 15 other songs by Zeppelin better than Stairway. I have heard why it's so popular is because for several reasons, it was the first real rock song that was played on AM stations. Back then AM ruled the radio and FM was basically for hobbyist. But FM was were you heard the more rock like music. So being played on AM radio would expose the song to many more people.
