Hi, you both have seen some lovely homes. I offer a thought of consideration to you being that I am of auntie age and have noticed some things. I apologize for the long comment, I think it is worth mentioning. It’s a really good idea to get a house with a decent size backyard. If you can, it is worth the longer drive. Once you begin to have children you will want a backyard space for them that is much bigger than the yards of the two story homes you saw. When they’re young, it will be so helpful to have a safe, closed space, such as a fenced yard for them to run and play that’s NOT inside the house. The backyard is that ideal space for them to do so while you guys prepare dinner, do work, etc. It allows them to get from underneath you while you’re taking care of things yet, be safe and close where you can still see them. They will not always want to be inside the house. You will not want to always have to take them to a park because there is no room at home, that is going to get old FAST! Brent may want to play ball or something with them and it is so convenient to do it at your home. When they are done they simply come inside the house for dinner or bed, it is all done safely and easily on your property. Also, your relative is not wrong about the utilities. You will be surprised how much more a two-story home can cost you when it comes to utilities, it is significant. Not to mention if you have any type of pain or physical challenges, the two story home will at times create difficulties for you. I’ve always been a major two-story home fan, I still love them. However, I now well know the benefits of a one story home and I am now very glad that we chose a one story home. Last, Brent is correct that people leaving states like California and moving to other states has dramatically increased home values very fast. I know someone that lives in Nevada. It was a great places to get a good priced beautiful home until Californians began to move there, then the homes values quickly doubled. I’m not criticizing those who move from California and other places. I understand those who needed to leave. It simply explains one of the key factors in what has happened in Texas. I wish you success in your home search.

House number 4 is to die for 😍😍😍😍😍. I can understand why it's so expensive. The last house is nice also and has all your needs (space and all) plus it's not that expensive. Take your time and you'll definitely make the right choice that suits YOU. Love you guys all the way from South Africa 😘

I don't take it as you complaining. If you are spending your hard earned money you SHOULD get what you want. You should not have to settle for just anything.
Take pictures of the decor and the build that you buy, then you will know what walls to paint, type of pictures to get and furnishings that are similiar. It really helps with ideas. 😊
Awesome, beautiful homes! In my experience a formal dining room has been a waste of space, we never used it.. Even when entertaining everyone gathers in the kitchen at the bar and the kitchen breakfast nook area/table, when eating. It was always enough space for eating and socializing. We entertained at least 6 times a year, which was a lot.
Hey y’all…. The backyard is small because you are looking at homes on a 40 lot and rear garage regarding houses 1-3; house 4 on a 50, 55 or 60 lot with front garage and Highland Homes and Perry are top tier builders

I love the first one story house you look at. I like that it had a separate dining room and a eat in kitchen. I also loved how big the backyard was. To me that house was a 10 out of 10. It was perfect to me

I love house number 3 I was so excited to see the house and I used to live in Texas so knowing how big their home the rooms are is such amazing to have that space especially when you are young and have going to have kids. A big backyard is important. And if you love to cook the kitchen was to die for. Love the big walk-in closet I flipped out when I saw that big walk in closet. That is the house for y'all
If you want to be closer to the city you're going to get smaller rooms. Try out a little bit further from the city. Make sure to check the closet size. I like number3🎉
Hello guys, I am new to your channel. I’ve been following you for a couple months often on. I’m getting ready to relocate to Texas. I’m happy I’m from New York and I can’t wait to go down. I went down there and picked up the house I want and I’m in the valley where I’m going to be there’s no snow. I’m in the south 4 1/2 hours from the border and where I’m going the town is ready to develop more houses is come in. I’ve been already down there for a couple months. I went down there for like two weeks and fell in love.
Tip : back in NYC , to measure the room I would put 1 foot infront of the other and count my steps. The big backyard is needed but think about the 100deg hot bbq days, every one will be inside the house getting AC. Plus you will have to cut grass or snake will come and the time it will take. Cute is nice but walk into a house with safety in mind, AC running 24/7 and yard upkeep front and back. Guest bedroom away from kids bedroom. Any closet space between master bdrm and kids room if on same level- noise travels. If you are sick and the kitchen is a mess - will some standing at the front door see the kitchen. Front doors are for packages and garage for entry/exit home. Just sharing

I have a one story I bought it 22 years ago and I absolutely love it I am so thankful I did not even consider a two-story you be hot during the summer upstairs you have to use your air conditioner on high to get cooled off. And can you imagine lugging a baby up and down stairs for the first 2 years of their life no one story is the way to go!
I thought you two would end up leaving ole Texas I wanted a big backyard too, until I got it! It’s good exercise though- summer mowing! Heat is brutal though.

I'm from Texas and I'm currently building a house with Drees Homes. In my opinion, Perry homes is overrated, however they have a good warranty program but the options aren't the best. Try Highland homes for a nice one story and affordable two story home. Go visit Grand homes or Toll Brothers homes for very nice 2 story production homes
Brent and Mir you all want a dining room its okay to stick with that. Please, my home doesn't have a separate Dining space. This is a investment you guys deserve it all. I'm so happy you guys. Happy home hunting ❤

I had two separate units for my upstairs and downstairs which made it fairly equal to a one story since I used one unit at a time.
