This song came as the b-side on the cassingle for Round & Round that I bought way back as a teenager in 1989. I love Round & Round and this was a secret gem on the other side. It was years later that I learned it is about football (soccer) players and I still love it.
As a lifelong New Order fan,who has listened to them since the mid 1980s,this song is a latter-day previously undiscovered gem...only after the cursory digging on You Tube did i dimly remember the eponymous TV show etc.Loved Technique.Takes me right back to being 17.
I remembered the theme tune from the tv show from all those years back, but it's only now that I found out that New Order were responsible for it. Top stuff, or as they say in Manc, "nice one!!!!".
@@Wolfington You must be from a different place called Manchester then. I'm in no mood to confuse my reality with yours. I don't appreciate effectively being called a liar.
I always loved this. Some great tunes on B sides. I always thought "Round and Round" was the one dud track on Technique (still one of the greatest albums ever), but this B side on my 12 inch made up for it. If they'd swapped the tracks and put this on the album things probably would have been so good that I'd have to have died within 2 years of the release, knocked over by a car or something. That good. I mean it. Too good to cherish.
Seven years later, someone replies. Sorry about that, would have replied sooner had I seen it. The song came first, but it was used on 'Best and Marsh', a football highlights show from yesteryear.
This, along with Electronic's 'Lucky Bag' and 'Free Will' are the trifecta of secret amazing New Order tracks nobody knows about
