It's been dead for awhile... This sounds like C4C to me but just totally fucked up with over the top distortion. To me that's just crap. Today's Noisia relates to late 90s early 00s neuro/tech like schrantz related to original late 80s early 90s hard/acid techno. Took the great concept, and overdone it to sound loud to pill-smashed idiots.. not cool.. it was loud balsy music to begin with, but that was not the whole point. Sad bit is they're really great producers, just that the whole scene now has awful general taste...
Bojan Markovic this is my point of view: to me this EP is some of the best neurofunk i've heard in a very long time! i can't believe 2005 was almost ten years ago... also, i completely agree with your last sentence. dubstep is the genre that is dead, drum and bass and it's subgenres are just underground right now IMHO.

Bojan Markovic It's obvious everyone can state his opinion as fact - if we believe in something, it means we think it's true, not that it is just our opinion, but I think this is the tone of your message - the music you once loved has moved away stylistically from your comfort zone and that's all there is to it. "Took the great concept, and overdone it to sound loud to pill-smashed idiots" Do you realize how many people honestly believed the same thing about some genre of electronic music in relation to its previous incarnation? :)
What you are used to was extreme and overcooked in so many ways to so many people but you loved it. Now the scene has moved on and everything is more complex, better produced, has additional layers upon layers upon layers of content and it will grow on to something even more peculiar, spawning same negative reactions from many die hard fans of the way things are today about tomorrow's "overcooked music".
I myself have enjoyed the hell out of drum'n'bass back in the day, am enjoying it now and will probably enjoy it 10 years from now since the genre is experiencing a ridiculous comeback after a total disaster that followed commercialization of the genre. Things are definitely looking good for d'n'b.
kbprojekty I used to make electronic music for good part of '98-2006 before life took me.. Point being that I understand how electronic music is made, what is distortion and how the loudness game is played. It's a direction some genres took (drum'n'bass, electro-house, dubstep) and artists wanting to be commercially succesful must follow.
Unfortunatelly the part about layers upon layers is simply not true, and neither is the part about "better produced". If you want to hear what "layers upon layers" sound like, get a Shpongle CD. Contemporary drum'n'bass has roughly the same number of elements and musical ideas in a track as it did in '00, it's just that they're beefier, louder and more distorted.

The bass on this is god-like.
I remember back when my dad made me listen when 6 years old Prodigy's Smack my Bitch off (obviously he changed the name from "bitch" in "beat") and I've grown up since that age with lots of music specially with old-style d&b. Now I'm still here, still listening d&b (just "a bit" evoluted)
It can change the name and the beats but d&b will still remain awesome forever.
