I was kind of hoping the last teacher would be a long-time comic creator named Mike Brilley

Congratulations on your book, Mark, it looks great! Recently I’ve watched some videos on Artificial Intelligence, and how AI-generated images might be the end of human illustrators. That might be the case for individual stand-alone images, but looking at your work, I can’t see how an AI program generate all the human thinking that goes into a graphic novel. This art form could be even more important in the future.

I can't express how excited I am for this book! My desire to make comics was what got me into drawing but I feel like I've gone out of practice lately, so this is coming at the perfect time to help me relearn some of the fundamentals!
Also, something that I had in my mind lately that's somewhat related to the original topic is a fork of interaction you can have with your Patreon supporters - I remember a while back you retweeting a thread where someone gave a scene direction prompt for a page of a Superman comic and encouraged artists on Twitter to draw and compose the page with their own styles and techniques, and I think it would be really fun if you gave similar prompts to your Patreons on one or a few occasions and see how each one handles the same page direction - kind of like a DTIYS challenge but with comics!

I remember when I was starting drawing about 14 years ago, I was in my cringy deviantart "drawing to impress a first gf" phase and I was hooked on your videos because unlike every other how-to-draw video, you didn't just say "put line here because line goes here" but rather you went into details showing _why_ the lines go there. You went into details about what shapes to look out for and gave tips that would help in future drawings.
I'm not a professional and I may never be, but thanks to you I can actually get the things in my head on paper. I'm preordering this NOW and am looking forward to another book by my favorite teacher :)

I can't wait to get this book; the one thing I love about it so far (not to mention The Drawing Lesson) is that what you've done is use visuals as a learning method which is great for me. I'm more of a visual learner; plus, your teaching method doesn't make me feel my way of drawing is wrong. Whenever I need a refresher on something I always go back to your books and videos; plus, I love how the linework is sketchy.
Also, at the convention scene, isn't that white haired male character from your Manga Art book? 🤔

I'll leave my thoughts here after I watched your video:
    1. The book does a great job at explaining how to make comics through the eyes of women, when you don't see too many women making comics these days.
    2. The book itself is actually showing you the progress of "how to draw X" with plenty of examples in picture form that you don't get by just reading it. It's one thing to read about "how to draw X," but you get more experience when you also see the progress done visually too.
    3. It's hard to be able to blend a good story with a real-life lesson sometimes (in this book, it's blending in a story with how to draw something), but I think you did a great job explaining the progress of how to draw comics, and having the artists think of "If I was the reader, what would I want to see in this comic."
I'll also mention that you also have people watching you who might just be here to see you draw (and might not draw themselves), but your books are great tools for downtime reading whether we're like drawing or not. I think of as those old "Joy of Painting" shows that were on decades ago that's before most of your viewers time, where ever when some viewers don't paint themselves, they enjoy seeing those cute moments from Bob Ross (the host of the show) talk in a very clam voice through the show. As least for your new book coming out next month, your storytelling in it might be enough alone to draw people into getting it.
I'm glad that you'll still around making videos almost 10 years after I left high school, and I'm sure that most of viewers on RUclips and other people that follow you on other social media platforms were high school students where you started making videos before 2010 and are now in their late 20s or early 30s most likely either rediscovering you again after years of forgetting about you and/or still follow your channel to this day 10 years later since your books don't disappoint, your how to draws video are some of the best on RUclips in present day in the day and age of digital tools being popular (and you still use the old paper and pen method of drawing to this day), and you still teach each video with a clam and gentle voice of drawing the viewers in of sitting back, get a cup of tea ready, and just watch you teach a lesson for 20+ minutes. It's like we're getting a free college art lesson every 2 weeks without needing to sat foot in a classroom.
Sorry for the long comment there, but I wanted to share how I'm happy that you'll still making videos all these years later, and that you newest book coming out soon that you showed in this video should be on Amazon's top recommended list for reading on release day, since you make them so well that you should take about turning them into a RUclips live mini-series. I don't know if this comment will be read by you in the future, but I wanted to leave my thoughts and get them out of my head before I forgot about them. I wish you good luck with all of your future projects, and I hope to continuing buying them until the day you stop making books, videos, etc. altogether.

I didn't realize this was an instruction method I needed. It seems to leave just enough of the process out that it allows you to "fill in the blanks" and achieve the end result through your own process, rather than replicate someone else's process.
