This was definitely a mainstay in the DC, WHUR, Melvin Lindsey days. It makes my heart glad to see all the comments from fellow Washingtonians and people who had the pleasure of being in DC during this era. In fact, I am going to play this song every day for one entire year. If you were there, let me know. I'm gonna be here all year. Day 1, let's go....
Evans Jr High fashion show in DC was the first time I heard this classic from Parris, my sister and her gorgeous ass girlfriend walked out to this song and I remember it like it was yesterday.
Bruh, I don’t teared tf up listening to this song. My gma used to live in S street in N.E & would keep 96.3 on all night. I remember hearing this song so many times as a child. I miss you so grandma !!
This was one of those early 80's, WHUR, riding in the backseat of a old FORD LTD, going down 3rd street tunnel about to get on 295 south type of tunes. So nostalgic. Tony Fountaine "I found the girl" came on right after this. Classic D.C. for sure. ✌🏽🖤
Ok, you were definitely there...you couldn’t tell this 19 yo he wasn’t in command...yup Tony came on next...were young using and getting abused by this thing called love....58 now, and got the scars to prove it.... would do things whole lot different if had chance to do again...to you youths, never rush into anything...be true to God and to yourself
I'm glad I saw your comment. You just made my day with this song Tony Fountaine song. Another classic. Listening to it now on RUclips. Thank God for RUclips. 🙂🎶🎼
Nostalgic is an understatement. Chills just stop going down my spine about 5 yrs ago, after everytime I would hear this song. This was the jam everybody wanted to hear at the Skating Rink on " Couples Only", shout out to SeaBrook Skating rink (Now Severn Skate) and Crystal Skate. Only Washingtonians know what Iam talking about. PS. I just unintentionally lied, as a chill just went down my spine as I was typing and listening to the song
I've been looking for this song for over 20 year. and i heard a little 15 yrs girl sing it and i lost my mind. when she told me the artist . I gave her all the money i had in pocket and thanked her. this song bring back strong memorize
I dabbled with my virginity on this song, still not sure if I lost it that night, but it was a great house party I know that, that's all that matters right?
I remember back in 1980 Melvin Linsey came to Annapolis High School and spoke to our class and I gave him a dedication to play for my girl and he opened the Quiet Storm that night with my dedication. I was so thankful to him for keeping his promise. R.I.P. Bro
I remember this song as a 15 y/o from 1981.... Listening to this song during my heyday in East Baltimore, it began to get a lot of air play in the late spring and through out the summer of 1981.... WHUR and WXYV (V103 to us old heads). A forgotten classic.
One of the 1st songs that I remember from Rhythm Skate when it was time for the couple's skate. Then after u got the phone number, u went home and talked all night listening to slow jams and when it came on that's when you layed it on thick. The 80's all day. PROPZ GIVEN!!!!
This right here will forever and always be my jam. Wow that quiet storm was the bomb. I used to have my tape cassette ready so I could record. Lol Upper Marlboro Meadows memories
My days in the Army and stationed at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland 1980-1983. Hearing this song on V103 in Baltimore and WHUR in Washington D.C. Hitting the old Capitol Centre Concerts, Painters Mill and O'Dell's in Baltimore, Morgan State Homecoming in 1982. Ft Meade and the NCO Club in Aberdeen. The two Deejay's I remember jammin. (Million Dollar Mike) & (L.T. Connection). The good ole days of the early 80s.
I first heard this song in 1982, my days in the army as well. Fort Hood, Texas. 1980-1983. Wherever I was station, I would buy music. Artists I never heard before, and I came across this gem.
Well if you love The Quiet Storm, WHUR 96.3 FM, They play all the great ballads from days of Classic, never Old. Yes, they have a app too. This is Howard University's own Campus radio station since 63'.

Quite Storm Classic I’m 43 my mother told me she used to listen to the Quiet Storm when she was pregnant with me every night. It worked I’m a slow jamming fanatic!!!
Old school. 75-90. That quiet storm. Let's go back. Sitting in your room listening, thinking and wishing. The 80s. I'll say it again...the 80s made you, broke you and showed love. 96.3 on that D.C. side. No matter what you did through the day. 8 o'clock. You and myself was ready. Maxwell cassette on play/pause. Sending it to that special one. Good days.
I learned about this song years ago from a CD compilation called Slow Jams: Timeless Collection Vol. 8. Although it originated from DC/Maryland area, it deserved more attention & exposure. I can't believe Southern area radio stations (LA, MS, FL, GA, AL) never heard of this memorable gem.
I know that I am obviously too young to even begin to understand how deep and loving this song is... but when I hear it, it just got me teary eyed for some reason. It's not that I have a lover or anything, but the way this woman was singing... I could hear the feelings she put into this song. It's... just so beautiful and I dont know how to describe it.
Nothing like being a true Washingtonian back in the day! This song congers up the best of growing up black in DEEECEE! CAN'T EXPRESS HOW MUCH THIS SONG TAKES ME BACK TO GROWING UP IN "CHOCOLATE CITY"!

This song brings back moments of being so proud of being a native listener of WHUR "Howard University Radio" the original quiet storm broadcast for the whole nation...lol Just my opinion! Anyway I was living in southwest Virginia as a teenager very recently removed from DMV and heard this song and brought back favorite memories of my beloved hometown!!
Back in high school, I had called the radio dj to play this song as a dedication to my first high school sweetheart. She had turned me inside-out, then broke off from me because of some silly mistake on my part. (Oh, this song reflects the angst and cruelty of young love!)
Its so wild how heavy the DMV is up in here... That Quiet Storm really does have its roots in my beloved hometown..
sounds like Washington DC. The home of the original quiet storm. 96.3. Howard University Radio. The late Melvin Lindsay.
