      Outside of the very wet tunnel, and the downed tree limbs from the storm the night before, this was a very nice trail. Thanks for watching.

    Back in the early 90's l rode atvs on that railroad bed from Franklin to Emlemton .It took us most of the day because we took our time and enjoyed the scenery. And we didn't disturb or destroy anything. The tunnels were great. When everyone stopped and turned off their engines and headlights, wow! Can't get anymore dark.Now l enjoy walking and biking on the river trail and Rockland to Van trail.

      It was a really great trail. I always like tunnels, but certainly didn’t expect a shower in the first one. The deer made a really cute squeaky noise that I couldn’t leave on the video because my husband was talking to his camera to get it turned on :). Thanks for watching. We hope to “see” you on our next adventure.

    I love your videos. I just bought my first e-bike last year and I'm looking into venturing out and hitting some trails. I'm from Indiana but live in Ohio. I'm going to knock out some trails in those states first. I REALLY enjoyed your Empire State trail video. Keep them coming!

    I rode this on September 30, 2023 all the way from Emlenton to Oil City and back (not quite 70 miles of riding). My advice: get there early because I passed tons of riders heading north (75+ easy) on my way back to Emlenton, and the parking lot was nearly full. I left the trailhead just before daybreak and had the trail mostly to myself all the way to Franklin. Also: like you, I would NOT recommend the ride past the Kennerdell tunnel for people with skinny tires/road bikes. The section of gravel road there is pretty rough and steep, but doable with the right kind of bike (I have a Soma Jawbone gravel bike with 52mm tires, so pretty easy for me). As you said the bike light for the tunnels is a must have! The Belmar Bridge is cool, and I recommend following the connector trail up to the level of the bridge to the Sandy Creek Trail. If you're not planning to go farther on the Allegheny River Trail, it's worth riding a couple of miles east on the Sandy Creek Trail to the Mays Hill Tunnel. Some nice views of the creek valley along that part of the trail. And the tunnel has some cool graffiti art. This is going to be one I do at least annually. Note: around mile marker 15 the trail is VERY rough due to roots below the asphalt, so take care. Overall most of the trail is smooth and great riding!

      Thank you soooo much for the additional details on the trail. We do want to get back down to that area and ride the Sandy Creek Trail and see the Belmar Bridge -- so the additional information you've provided will be very helpful. Thanks for watching and we hope to "see" you again on another adventure.

    I've been on every mile from Emlenton to Oil CIty, just not in the same day. The Belmar Bridge is part of another trail ("Sandy Creek Trail,") and it's quite a scenic route for a good portion of it, with many bridges in just a few miles. Well, it's scenic except for the short tunnel near the Belmar Bridge area, since the tunnel has graffiti on it. I also have a photo my Dad took of me, of me carrying my Terra Trike up the stairs that go from the Allegheny River Trail up to the Belmar Bridge.

    Maybe 5 years ago, I rode this trail. I started out at Emlenton. When I arrived at the first tunnel, I was really skeptical about riding through it. I did have a light but it was big time insignificant. Plus, my equilibrium is lousy without visual references. I decided not to be stupid and turned around. But a large group of bikers arrived so I decided to follow them using them as the reference. Haha, didn't work. They peddled much faster than I did and soon I was in pitch black and no sighting of either end. I fell. It was a nasty fall but thankfully nothing broken. I walked the rest of the way out. I was in too much pain to keep going, so I walked around a little bit and noticed the sun was setting and pointing directly down the tunnel. I took advantage of that. But soon after, I entered the darkness again and hit the brakes before I lose my balance. Because I hit the brakes so hard, the bike came to a stop but unfortunately I kept going with the bike landing on me. Hahaha I walked out again. If you don't have REALLY bright lights or have a balance problem, WALK through the tunnel. I also felt that the roadway reflective markers were insufficient even with my small light. There was no reflection from them. Maybe they've been replaced since I was there.
    I rode the trail again the following year but during the Fall. I actually enjoyed the trail without all the foliage because I could see the river most of the time along with the setting sun. I felt it was far more scenic than during the summer. I didn't go into the tunnel. When I invest in proper lighting, I'll return.
    Thanks for video.

      WOW! We really appreciate your sharing your experience -- but it sounds like it was hairy and scary. Hopefully, this will be helpful to others who may be thinking they can get through that tunnel without good lighting. I've certainly had a few tumbles of my own, so I can feel your pain. Thanks for your support of our channel.

    Can you tell me the estimated range of your ebikes? Farthest either bike has ridden on one charge? How do you charge both bikes overnight?

    • @Adventuresonebikes
      @Adventuresonebikes  2 года назад

      Hi. The estimated range depends on how much we stay in the lowest assist level vs. use higher assist levels (like climbing hills). The display after a full charge usually indicates 90+ miles. The farthest we've written is 63 miles, but that isn't because of the bike -- that was as far as we've ever wanted to go. We plug the charger into the bikes overnight.

    Where is the best spot to park the car?

    • @Adventuresonebikes
      @Adventuresonebikes  Год назад

      We parked in Emlenton. There is a trail parking lot there. Basically head West on Main Street until you think you are at the end. That should take you down a little road where the parking lot is. Or, you can do what we did. We didn't find the parking lot until after we parked on Main Street in a small lot near the start of the trail. Have fun.

    Did this trail a few years ago. Did not know about tunnel. We were not going to go through because we only had tiny flashlights. A nice couple stopped and said we could follow them through. They got too far ahead of us. I couldn't see and crashed off the edge of the trail. Couldn't get up because my leg was tangled under my bike. They heard me crash and turned around to help. Somehow we made it out of tunnel. My leg was scraped up, my front wheel was bent. We rested up and then walked back through the tunnel. It was very scary. Do not try without a bright light.

    • @Adventuresonebikes
      @Adventuresonebikes  4 месяца назад

      Thanks for sharing your story. Sounds pretty scary. Glad to hear you got out OK. I wouldn’t want to crash in any of the tunnels, but this one is particularly wet and rocky. Great advice to not tackle these dark tunnels without the appropriate lighting. I’ve upped the intensity of my light based on some of the tunnels we’ve been through in the last year.
