DSG Cloning / DSG Programming with PCM Flash.

- In this video I am going to show you how to Clone / Program DSG units using other tools than VAS with ODIS.
For Cloning operations the cheapest option is PCM Flash.
On units that have immobilizer incorporated in the transmission it is not enough to Flash the correct software , you will also need to copy or modify the contents of the eeprom and ODIS can not do this for you.
Also added some tips regarding the DQ250 Cxx / Fxx units.

you read the EEPROM and MICRO from old unit, you saved 2 files, but you wrote only one ( MICRO) to the new unit. What to do with readed EEPROM? Did you forget to write it to the new unit too, or it is not necessary? and if not, why did you read it from first unit, if you didnt write it to another? thanks for the explanation.

So i have a DQ250 MQB Fxx mech and want to replace it with another Fxx. I can just write the eeprom and micro to the other unit even when it has the immobilizer on it and i dont have the keys?? I thought it wasnt possible to flash immo units without odis online right?
Can you code it after is being changed and fitted straight on the car by vcds ? Or it has to be on the on the bench ?
I am doing an AWD conversion on my car, and reusing my mechatronics in the AWD DSG but the gear ratios themselves are different. I should be good to go if I run through the basic adaptation process right to have my mechatronics learn the new gearing and clutch tolerances and such correct?
It's kind of the opposite point you are making in this video. I'm keeping the same software, but swapping out the hardware. Thank you in advance!
thanks for the vid, about the PCMFLASH if you use automatic mode rather than manual is there will be a difference or problem when cloning ECU plus how can you know if you have the correct hardware is there is a software out there or you just have to know it by yourself??

During the obd write operation with autotuner equipment, 93% of them stopped due to program errors and no longer write to obd. So I connected it to the pcmflash and the powerbox, dsg cable and finished writing the virtual read rom (with autotuner equipment), but the car doesn't start when I complete the write operation (autotuner). (Transmission p-flashing) 0d9 dq250mqb. Is automatic power a problem?

VCDS and ODIS do the same job , just ODIS makes is bit more comprehensive.

No need to have any holes :) just direct connection to DSG connector.

No, basic settings are offline but if your unit is not matched to immobilizer you will need to do that.

Yes, when you clone no need to checksum files.

and another question, if the LOT number is not the same ( as you explained on example, FXX and CXX firmware ), can i read the EEPROM file from first unit to second? and after that flash it with right software?
FXX not compatible with Cxx or Exx. Dumping the eeprom from one to the other it's a NO GO ! Also flash not the same , so no go either to clone Exx into Fxx or the other way around.

hello thanks for the video. My question is that DSG gearboxes start driving the vehicle with 2nd gear in D position. Could it be possible to intervene in the transmission program with VCDS and start with 1st gear? (vehicle model skoda kamiq)
No , not possible.
Hallo Gigi, can you please advise... Computer must be removed from transmission ? or is possible to clone it when is still been fitted to the vehicle of course by using PCM Flash directedly connected to transmission plug not via OBD. Thank You
No need to remove from gearbox. Connect directly to DSG connector.
Another question what I didn't understand. If we transfer whole data from this to another TCU should we need to reprogram the car ECU to learn the immo data to ECU too or can we do this via vcds?

VCDS does not perform any programming , only coding. So you transfer the program / flash / software with PCM Flash or other tool, then you do coding with VCDS if necessary.
Awesome video! Question is have you done this mechatronic swap for a DL800 trans? I see you mostly work with the Dq500 / 250 units but don't really see anything for the DL800? I was trying to get my unit replaced because is defective but I can't seem to find anyone online that can do it.. is that something you can support? When I try to flash the new unit with ODIS -E I get the immobilizer error since the new unit wasn't virgin and came off another car. Any insights / help you can provide would be great! Thanks
You can adapt the unit online via ODIS and Geko access. Then you can flash the desired software on it.

Hi mate. I have the chinese dsg cable and use the powerbox with the tactrix, but am not able to read the dsg. SO far no luck with eeprom and micro for dq200 and 250. Do i need to bridge can h and can low with120 Ohms resistor? Is 720 ohm resistor also required for obd pin 15+16?
What version of DQ250 and what version of DQ200. 120ohm is needed for all CAN Bus units and some units also require K Line.

I am about to change my faulty DSG transmission to a working one, from scrap yard, the donator car is identical Octavia as mine, so do I have to do any programming at all? one DSG specialist told me that it should be just "plug and play" swap, no coding needed
You need to program. Clone like this video or Basic setting by vcds

Just 1 quick question when you coping or reflashing Eprom from 1 ECU and coping back to old or used ECU how can the car start and work normally.
If the software was bad on the first ECU how can it be fixed by just copying it to another.

If software was bad in the first time then you do not make a clone, you make virgin unit and then adapt online with Geko.

Hi i have a Golf Gti mk6 DSG with old mechatronic 02e927770AJ and have purchased refurbished with hw code 02e927770AL.
Old mech unit had oil in the plug and intermittent loss communication U0101 but no faults on bench test
Which is the correct sw i need?
Is it possible to do this to a new mech unit if the car isn’t in your workshop. So sending a gearbox to a mechanic via courier ready to install with the correct software. So all the mechanic would have to do is basic setting ??

Eeprom not , only flash. Ktag should be able to read both eeprom and flash.

Hi, I have Audi Q5 with OB5/DL501. My current TCU files can’t be read because the connector is broken and completely destroyed. I bought a used TCU which is also for OB5/DL501 however has different VIN. I am planning to buy KTM flash however how do I retrieve files from the old TCU?

Hi, since we last spoke about our Audi TT 3.2 04 reg DSG gearbox we have done what you said and got the fault error codes today the codes are coming up as follows 18203, and a second 18203 also 19143 twice and 18115 and 17115. No , Exx and Fxx different architecture.
@@GigiBeleaDK As I unfortunately flashed an Exx file (Micro and EEProm) to an Fxx mechatronic by mistake I will share my experience for other people reading the comments. The Exx file was flashed normaly via PCM Flash to the Fxx unit and did ID normally but when I powered it the high pitched electric noise that you could hear before was not present after flashing the file so obviously something was not right. I flashed the Fxx file again and everything seems to be working fine.

No immo on that car. You can't use VCDS to copy flash data,.

If is from same type engine and gearbox then is plug and play , if not you might need to change software, no need to clone. You can flash units with Vag Can Pro or ODIS.

P1701 on a DQ500, ODIS Online does not want to flash it. It just fails.

I use flex and dq200 wasn't able to clone a G to D I had to get a G , the stuff u explain is great on DQ250 black and white are not interchangeable right?
G to D is not possible, different firmware.. Not all DQ250 are interchangeable , different hardware needs different firmware.
PCM FLASH apparently does G TO D

If I have ODIS VW server access, so I do not need to clone anything. Just do it online step by step?
If units has immobilizer , online access won't help you much with an USED unit that has already been programmed to another car.

Very Good video, I have an OCW TCU, that was but geko service cannot unlock the unit, saying the initial file is lost, however with pcm flash once I follow your steps to clone from the original unit will it work? I noticed with eeprom you only read , no write??
Writting is the same as reading , and yes, if you clone both eeprom and flash everything should be ok.

Greetings from the United States! My wife's 2008 A3 (CCTA EA888 Gen 1 engine, DQ250/KNC code DSG gearbox) had a failure of the DSG box due to an axle bolt coming loose and slicing a hole in the case. One of my co-workers had a 10K mile SFH code gearbox from a 2015-2017 Jetta GLI available, and he believed that we could simply swap in the mech unit from the old gearbox to the new one to make it work in the A3, and it doesn't. I can set basic settings with VCDS, but its throwing faults now for 19143/P2711 Unexpected/Implausible Mechanical Gear Disengagement and 18115/P1707 Interference in Mechatronic Module.
What do I need to do to get this gearbox to work in my wife's car? Reinstall the original mechatronic unit for that gearbox and flash it somehow? I would like to retain this newer unit as I believe it should have more favorable top end gears. Any insight you could provide would be greatly appreciated!
read from original mechatronic (eprom) and flash the new mechatronic (micro), dont need to reinstall old one back into the car to achieve this result .. make sure you only READ from original unit and only WRITE to new unit

No , it can not , not the same hardware.
Jaxelos okay. What about writing gen 1 eeprom to gen 2 mech to avoid immobilizer issues? Can you also just erase the eeprom to make the immobilizer think it’s a brand new unit?
@@fastboatster Gen 1 to gen 2 , no go, different hardware inside different architecture, you will end up with a door stopper. You can also not just erase the eeprom :)

Ce mechatronic ? Chiar daca unitatea nu foloseste K-Line , trebuie conectata , se foloseste la boot. Apoi sa ai un rezistor de 120ohm intre CANL si CANH , altfel nu o sa mearga pe unele unitati.

That was absolutely brilliant very interesting on dsg gearboxes, I'm understanding how they operate much more now, I have a problem of my own and wondered if you can point me in the right direction, I've purchased an Audi 3.2 2004 registered TT with a DSG automatic gearbox with a fault, when driving through all the different modes of the gearbox it seems to drive very smoothly and does all the right things but at times not often it goes into neutral and loss of drive and the dash light with the gear selection starts flashing on and off, I have to stop and turn engine off and wait a minute or so then start the engine on again and it seems to go back to normal, the last owner had it tested on a computer and it shows no fault codes, it's had new gearbox oil and filter and with your experience and understanding I'm hoping that you can help me in the right direction, kind regard karina Cavilla. UK.
It's not about the previous owner reading codes and tellin you it's all ok :) ... you must have a tester on it and check the error codes. When it goes to neutral while driving it will throw some error codes .. check them. Is probably a worn clutch or a defective valve.

yes 02e927770al works :-) and is more Relieble then the AJ ... but don.t try the 02e927770AQ that wil not work eeprom software is not the same and have immibilizer in it

Hello Gigi, the problem I have in my golf gti mk6 (2011) is when I stop the car to switch from drive to park or reverse. My car makes clunking noises 80% of the time and the spanner comes up on the dash. However , when Im driving the car everything is normal with no problem, shifts from 1-6 very smooth.
Could this just be a software issue where I need to reflash or is maybe a solenoid or wire damaged.
Read error codes first before anything else.
@@GigiBeleaDK When I scan my car the error code for the transmission says "P2711 - Unexpected / implausible mechanical gear disengagement" I've been told it's a mech unit issue, but I was wondering if this problem could arise from a damaged solenoid or wire.
It would save me lots of $$ if i don't need to buy a new mechatronics unit.
@@lol12345678012 Usually that comes from Worn clutch , incorrect software in Mechatronic or mechanical problems inside gearbox

Hello please help.
I was in an accident and I smashed with my Mechatronic and the box was damaged. I bought another box and got it installed but the problem is that I can not move the gear lever from park and the park is busy flickering.
Some guy came here with his diagnosist tool and ran it through he he showed me that his PC can not identify the transmission unit.
So he left with out doing anything, he asked due to this he can not do any basic settings and programming.
What should he have done?

Can you show us what other tools you use to work on bench, as is power supply, multimeter, osciloscope, soldering device, cables, in my case, I am a beginner, I want to do this with my own car, so I had been adquiring some tools and interfaces to start but there is a lot of expensive trash in the market that is not required.

If only working on your own car the investment in tools is to big I would say. If you plan on working on multiple cars then yes, you should buy a stabilized power supply , hot air soldering station , osciloscope if you work on the car mostly , on bench not needed.
@@GigiBeleaDK thanks again, It is possible to scan the 02E dq250 control unit with VCDS or ODIS in the bench? I can't figure out how the wiring must be between the TCU and the OBD2 interface to by pass the gateway, regards from South America!!!

Are you able to read eeprom and the flash from a TCU 02E DQ250 in separate files with KESS V2? Or maybe it is possible with any software to divide the files?, if not what interface do you recomend?
@@HowieLop I am not using Kess for DQ250. I use either Frieling SPI Wizard or PCM Flash. Don't know how Kess reads them ad never tried it, the other tools I have are much more faster.

Citeste erorile pe cutie si vezi de acolo care e problema. Posibil lipseste ulei.

I have a Rocco R that we have tried several boxes in, in the end went back to original and put a Brand New Genuine VW Mech in. yet we are unable to perform basic settings. no idea how to fix.

Hello how are you? I have a question. I have a 2009 golf 6 gti .mechatronic defective. p0771 did not pick up a gear. my mechatronic had code AJ and bought one of gti 7 from 2015 with code AQ. they cloned the software from my old one to the new one. but now my car wont even start and cant get the shifter out of P position and error codes. like p0701 and more. could it be that a 2009 golf gti only works with code 02E927770AJ? .
Whoever cloned it did not know what they did, bad job. You can not clone 02E927770AJ directly to 02E927770AQ , software needs to be changed , eeprom needs to be changed.

@@Frank290578 It is not broken , it is just flashed wrong. The process is a bit more complicated to be explained on a comment here. Find a company that knows what they are doing.

@@GigiBeleaDK Hello, I emailed ecutools (pcm flash company) asking about older Cxx mechatronic and they replied: It reads 448 kb, EEPROM is not supported.
So unfortunately it looks like the pcm flash is an option only for exx/fxx mechatronics cloning.
@@Artec12 For Cxx you do NOT NEED the eeprom it's in the flash.
I'm in the us with a mechatronic from a TDI mk6 but my car is mk5 TSI 2.0t. can you flash it from F10 over to CXX and add performance modifications to the software for me? If you can contact me somehow and we can figure out pricing and shipping of the unit
