    With PCGS Secure, each coin is laser scanned, imaged and registered into the PCGS Secure database... so if it is ever stolen and resubmitted they have all the characteristics of the coin.

    Unless I'm way off the mark it looks like its super expensive to submit a coin for grading. For an amateur like me it scares me to spend that kind of money on grading and slab bing something that might not be very valuable. How in the world do I or anybody else here know when it's worth it or appropriate to submit a coin? I have a few "mint error" coins and it looked like from your video they want $60.00 to do those..not to mention the cost of postage there and back. 2 of my coins I know without a doubt they are errors ( a 73 Ike and a 70's quarter) but some of the others which are Effigy Mound quarters I'm kinda on the fence about them. There are such an incredible amount of possibilities and like I said, being an amateur doesn't help.

    Great video, thanks for sharing. But, I'm very curious, as well as others in the comments as to what grade PCGS assigned to it. My guess is AU53. It looked worn in the hair, but it could have been a weak strike. Please let us know how it graded. Thanks.

    Just to let you guys know you can only use the free submissions if your coin is an estimated $3,000 or under but if you have one that is estimated to be more than 3,000 you have to pay $60 hours for each grade

    I Really appreciate the Help, Im a Dealer, things have really changed. Including the grading prices. I used to send in Rolls, you get a Special rate for 100 of same type and year ex; pennies 100@8 Dollars. For RARITIES Its far more expensive. This HELPED AND OLD GUY ALLOT. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. If you can find a Dealer who gets SPECIAL RATES. WHICH PCGS DOES. That's the way to go. Next time I'm at a show, I'm grading as much as I can.

    Are they going to send the plastic case prior to mailing the coins?

  • @HarmonixHealing
    @HarmonixHealing 5 лет назад

    Excuse me if this these are dumb question but 1) won't those hard plastic slip potentially scratch the surface of perfect proof coins?
    2) Can you submit them is custom capsules? 3) Will they not accept coins in their original custom presentation boxes & capsules?

  • @boaz9208

    So basically, if you don't think your coin is worth more than $50-60, it's not worth sending in to be graded? Of course there always might be that one person that's willing to pay that much to complete their collection or something, but for the most part it sounds like it's only worth sending in very high quality, rare, or badly errored coins?

    • @bbcoinsinc
      @bbcoinsinc  7 лет назад +2

      It's kind of a personal call but yes that would be true. There are also less expensive grading companies like PIC, NGC, etc but I use PCGS so I used that example to show how easy it is to do.

    HELP!!! what would I put for a 1967 double-die obverse. the book said it can range from $400 to $850. should I leave it blank and let them tells me it's a double-die? should I leave the grade blank and let them tell me? I'm new to this and learning along the way. sorry for all the dumb questions. thanks

    • @bbcoinsinc
      @bbcoinsinc  7 лет назад

      Yes they will tell you the grade. You only put a grade in there if it has been graded and slabbed and you are asking them to review it.

    • @lisabaubeau2536
      @lisabaubeau2536 7 лет назад

      So will they also put its a double-die or should I put it is and they check to make sure or will they see that on their own? Thanks for the reply earlier. Your videos is so much help, I have learned alot about coins.

    • @mikespiggybank
      @mikespiggybank 7 лет назад +3

      .you should specify exactly how you want the variety described. if not they will only grade the coin according to date and denomination. for example even a 1969s lincoln cent doubled die obverse will only receive a grade as a 1969s lincoln cent without specifying the variety. and in addition you have wasted all that money for grading, shipping, etc.

    How do you clean the coins prior to submission? It appears that lots of collectors do not take the time to clean their coins. I've seen many coins in slabs develop problems over time ie fingerprints, spots... and hastily submitted ones with lint and easily removed debris adhering to coin within holder.
    That's why I try to only purchase coins that were slabbed for more than a year. Allowing the problems time to begin showing up.
