New subscriber and new visitor to your website here. Fantastic content. I want to eat frugally and healthily. All the meals look amazing thus far! I already try something not from your channel per se, but some lentils and rice dish similar to what you do here. So already have some experience in preparing something like what you offer. I'm not British, and not sure why British food get such a bad rap. I see fresh nutritious produce being produce simply. Can't go wrong. Thank you for your work!
American here. I don't know if you saw the previous video, but we were shown that she spends just 20$ per week on food. If you're American, you might not reach that low a goal (our veggies are more expensive), but you can still save a ton of money if you go on these rations.
I absolutely love these 10-15 minute videos. Good to see what you eat in a day, and lovely to hear from you so often. I apprecaite how much work it is to make the videos and thank-you for your efforts. And I just adore your accent, it adds a little class to my day.
Thank you, you just made my day as I’m having a tough one for a few different reasons. That’s a lovely thing for you to say, really appreciate it xxx C
Your giggle is so infectious! Lol I love that you ate so much broccoli as it can also be fartilicious! :D Which cookbook is that? The recipes look lush. I hope it's available in Australia? I literally salivated when you showed the cooked pie. I'd love that cold as well. Nice dinner for the upcoming Summer. Thanks!
Great to see you cooking.😊 The pie looks delicious and frugal.🎉 I can remember my mother making pastry by the rub in method and your attempt looks fine.😊 Fresh salad is a dieter’s best friend.
They look nice , thats a great menu. I'm almost out of cheese , I'm deciding what to do. Haha. Maybe pastry is calling me too. Thank you for sharing lovely ❤❤
I can't eat oatmeal for some reason in the morning. I tend to use Oat Bran. More fiber and less carbs and I can add toppings and I still get that oatmeal taste and it sits better in my stomach.
@@1940sExperiment Interesting point. Porridge does NOT have to be made with Oats! hence some say Oatmeal instead. It can be made of many grains(barley/wheat/etc)
Dear all, I have a blog post with written recipe for this wartime dish, here: the1940sexperiment.com/2023/10/10/potato-and-cheese-flan-recipe-no-216/

Just on my way to work, will reply properly this evening with name of book when I return this evening xxx
I cook my porridge in the microwave, just 3/4 minutes, eat it straight from the bowl its cooked in, no washing up the saucepan (which I hate)
Same here, often use the microwave but when I add in apple or pear I prefer doing it in a saucepan for some reason 😅 xxxx
that looks lovely! Potatoes are so versatile. Thanks.
They are, they are in my top ten foods, maybe even top 5 !!! xxx :)
I think I'll make this for my lunches most of this week, a quarter a day like you cut. Looks like a good stick-to-your-ribs meal.

Thank you, I love a bit of baking! I mostly do a lot of stove top stews so it was nice to get a pie in the oven! C xxxx

I only had 1.5 ounces left which I used in the recipe. Got to wait until Sunday now to get my ration! C xxx
Living alone I can afford the windy fun lentils bring me.
Oh, your potato pie is giving me a craving:)
I had two slices today, one for breakfast and one for lunch! C xxxx
Oh yummy, I shall have to make that. Thanks.
It tasted good, just had another portion for breakfast!!! Xxx
That all looks so good. Cheese and potatoes...yes please!
A lovely combo!! Xxxx
What kind of oats did you use, steel cut/pinhead quick oats? They cooked really fast!

Sounds like a good solution! Xxx ❤
I eat porridge for breakfast 98% of the time. I love it! made with water and usually no fruit.
So good! Gotta love porridge! Xxxx
