    Can't believe I've only just seen this! I was born at home in Wellinger Way... Braunie born, Braunie bred, strong in the arm and thick in the head! Went the old saying that I got used to hearing as a kid, but in an affectionate way, because we may have been knocked down, but we were still proud. Well, I went to school there and learnt a lot of life's lessons on the estate. Most of my best friendships were from there in the good old 80's. My family moved to the south coast in 1992 and though I made some good friends, I was met with discrimination largely because of the way I spoke and where I was from. Mostly from Teachers! I was told I would never amount to anything... By the age of 20 I was a Supervising Security Officer at big events, then a Crowd Safety Officer. I then worked in Retail Management for 9 years and after redundancy I retrained and have now been working in Further Education and Training for 5 years - Educating those who were let down by the strict one-way teaching of mainstream schools... Yes, they sure were right in saying that I would amount to nothing!!!

      Heart warming little story there Jay77. We do not have to allow our background dictate our mentality, we can be successful no matter our background and we can of course measure success differently.
      I have lived in Braunstone for most of my life and went to all the local schools in this deprived poor area, but am a poet with poems published in numerous magazines and have written a book of patriotic poetic quotes, and feel like Shakespeare on a council estate LOL! :-)
      That is part of my success but most of all my success is raising a loving family with disabled child, and being caring, charitable, neighbourly, respectful, loving, honourable, truthful, fair and disciplined, well mannered and gentlemanly.
      A school report by my Form teacher once stated that I am a Dreamer... yes I dared to dream of my own successes and accomplished them.
      Braunstone has sadly had way too much immigration these days which is breaking the old community spirit as is divisive and isn't unifying when overdone without assimilation and I intend to move away in good time.

    @ Jimmy Farce, do you extend your 'Poor people should have no kids' policy to poor black Africans too or do you single out just the English for this treatment?

    Such irony that these estates were often built to replace inner city slums.

      Well then they are just pretentious nobheads and you should not worry about what others think. I am proud to say I am from Braunstone and I have been very successful in life. I love where I came from and have made an amazing life for myself and my family in the USA. The people of Braunstone are the salt of the earth and I would never want anyone else to have my back.

    @garysquirrelreviews,
    Is your view aimed world-wide concerning poor people having children or only concerning people of Braunstone?

      We need a mass sterilisation policy for these people. Based on bad breath, tattoos, scratch card buyers and white bread eaters. They're a waste of useful space.
