    I just picked up a BB424X that a friend left me in his will. I have to tell you that it absolutely blows the doors off the BB1024X that I've owned for a year. Both great basses, but I'm amazed at how good that 424 sounds.

    I love yamaha BB 424x

  • @bloophero

    Bought a 425 in 2016 for £250 brand new. I knew I liked the BB sound, from the years of listening to Jonathan Maron, but I had no expectations for this 'cheap' bass. I just needed a cheap 5-string, for a festival gig, where we were playing cover songs that needed a lower-B. I hardly practiced with it before showing up on stage and the growl blew me away. I still have that bass! But I would really love a BB2024 (or 2025) one day.

    Great playing, in the pocket, smooth and tasty. Just got a 424 because of this video. Killer song too, your singer sounds like Sting when he gets up in those high notes.

    1024 sounds the best to me. The 2024 seems the most even sounding, but the 1024 just had more life to it in the mids and top. They all sound great.

    All 3 sound great. I have a 1024 and its great. Traded my Sandberg vm4 for it and a trbx305. If I was paying cash I'd go for the 424 lots of bang for your buck!

  • @AndyPanda9

    Tasty bass lines and excellent playing. I think the two basses with rails on the split P are a little brighter than the one with pole pieces. They all sound great but I think I like the 424 best, the pole pieces seem to have a little deeper, low warmth to it (more like an old Fender P).
    Did you have to adjust the gain on the preamp to get them all the same level? Or were they all equal output?

    • @bangsstube
      @bangsstube  6 лет назад

      The bassline of the original song that was released was different because I didn't play it.
      After this album was released, I was recruited by the band as a new member.
      So my bassline is different from the original line.
      I prefer that video over the original.

    I have tested 424x and 2024x in guitar store. And have played 1024x in other place. Actually I could not any feel they are much different sounds. So I have chosen 424x and playing now. I have American Fender Jazz and Ibanez SR1204, also I have played many bass guitars, as like Fender, Musicman, Spector, Lakland, and change them always. But 424x is still on my hands. I really satisfied with 424 sound. YAMAHA make mistake to set up 424 model line with same high quality sound, as player don't have to pay much more money for 1024 or 2024.

    • @JamesDavisakaRemguy
      @JamesDavisakaRemguy 8 лет назад

      +Victor Kim I agree, there doesn't seem to be much tonal difference between all three models. At most gigs, you could play a Squire or SX and no one could tell the difference between that and a Sadowski or Fodera, given the room, the boom, the heavy-handed drummer, effects-crazy guitar hero and mike-eating vocalist! (Or, if you're like me, your crappy technique. D'oh! :) Can you tell me anything about the playability and weight as you go up in price? Having a smooth playing, lightweight bass is worth hundreds, but probably not thousands, unless you're a pro and/or a rich guy. Thanks for any reply - Remguy

      That's the Point. That's why I made this Video.
      Within a few years of the introduction of the 424/1024/2024 model, the 1024 became discontinued,
      and within a few years, all of them were discontinued and new BB was produced.
      I think the reason for this is that the quality of 424/1024/2024 is not so different that people usually buy 424 or 1024 and the 2024 are ignored.
      And I think this video also had a lot of impact. hhh
      (Yamaha hates this video. hhh)

    Great post! This is exactly what we want to hear, exactly how we want to hear it! Well, maybe a little more volume on the bass or less on the music (great song, too BTW). I hear the tone getting clearer each step up in quality. Do you feel a difference in playability too? Also, how is the weight of each model? Thanks for any feedback and thanks for this great post! 김사합니다 !

    2024 has warmest sound. It also has best sustain and produce more different frequencies. Because of that it sounds more even than others. 1024 sounds thinner than 2024. 424 hasn't got much sustain and got loss of lower mids.

    1024 and 2024 have more mid scooped sound,424 has warm,fat deep tone and I can tell you when I send it trough a preamp pedal with swappable mids it can sound like those upper models,but not vice versa,cause of the p rail pups.

    BB424 lacks low mids and low end. BB1024 sounds fat like a precision. For me 1024 is enough for an amateur bassist. BB2024 feels more resinant and sounds fuller and more balanced. But i cant feel much difference between 1024 and 2024. Good comparison!
