Nice video Andruw! Appreciate you being as slow and careful as possible in removing those short boards from the off-bearers position. Perhaps if your dad had a pusher stick that he could get them past the splitter for you to grab would be a better solution, not sure. Warm up and stay safe my friend! ZZ Mark
The first question that comes to mind, is why didn't you use an 8' or 12' log for the stair treads and then cut them to length after milling? The 4' logs were cut to that size to begin with.
MM77 Approved 👍🏻👍🏻……………………………………………….Y’all did good, but I hope you changed a little extra for the aggravation! Honestly, it looked a little more dangerous than usual, the way some of the boards didn’t fall over when they were cut.
One time, I sawed out a whole bunch of stair treads for a guy. He wanted them 5' long, red oak and 7" thick half rounds. I logged the trees off his property and did the job, they were heavy, but it was a good job. SR
Got what your customer wanted. ❤❤

How does the stepover adjustment work on this type of mill? Is it 1" for every pull of the lever or something?
We can set it to different thickness per pull

Just out of curiosity, what is the bunch of slabs going to be used for?
The 3-1/2 peice are going to be used for stair treads then the bark slabs are going to be used for firewood. Thanks for watching
I see why those short ones are so difficult. Is that also why you had your dad doing the sawing?
