I always liked Gayatri Devi for her beauty and also for her joining the right-of-the center Swantantra Party headed by C. Rajgopalachari. As a college student, I even used to buy (again right-of-the center) Swarajya Weekly launched by "Rajaji" in 1956..
You should promote your channel more I am sure there are many history lovers who are unaware about this channel and would definitely love to watch these videos.
John writes honestly and with impeccable research. I really enjoyed this book. I had no idea about the details about GD and her life and how it was intertwined with Indira Gandhi.
Great story sir. Difficult to stomach one fact, if Gayatri Devi n her husband highly Anglocized then how can she truly stand up to Indian values of modesty n adding decency to Indian culture? She must be very profit oriented. Jussojuan
The interview with Simi Garewal is for me the only interview which is honest .I have read The house of Jaipur several times and I do not understand why the author has to write about alcoholism, philandering etc. of people concerned. Write about history and do not gossip about all the people concerned. I have the feeling that the author is jealous of HH the Maharaja of Jaipur and he is obsessed with the Maharani. As such I feel sad and angry that he damages the people he is writing about.
At a time when common people of India suffered from hunger and poverty and the freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Khudiram Bose, Bagha Jatin gave up their life to fight against the British rule and thosands of Swadeshis were sent to Cellular Jail in world of extreme torture, at that point of time rulers of these princely states were leading a lavish lifestyle by getting shares of money looted by the Britishers from India.
Royals donated everything to common people , many royals participated in round table conference fir indian freedom and princely states always maintain communal harmony , unlike politicians who provoke riots and looted people.
@@PrithaBhowmick-cb1cz Gayatri Devi was born in London and raised in London by her mother, the princess of Baroda, a marathi/gujrati kingdom, she married the king of Jaipur before the age of 18 . So she is only by name princess of Cooch Behar. She comes from a great dynasty and definitely has a connection to cooch Behar but she identities herself as Indian more than bengali because her mixed background and upbringing.

If there’ll be a biopic of Gayatri Devi then only Aishwarya Rai can do the justice, she resembles Gayatri Devi.
At least I am not only one here...
True
It's a privilege to know that a foreigner have such a great knowledge about our great nation.
Being from Royal Coochbehar , I feel how royal and grand was this living epitome of beauty . English culture was embedded in her blood .
