Kari is the King! We need more content about him!👑🎙️🇫🇮 And about his resemblance to Johnny Cash, it's because Johnny was one of Kari's biggest idols and they met eachother at the Elysee-hall (nowadays Gatorade Center) of Turku in '95

"... like stray dogs, we prowled around the land..."
You did such a great, nice reaction to this obscure foreign song!
Love you, and love your reactions, 'HunterZ!
Hope to see your gig live some day live.

You are right, finnish country and blues. Hobo, drifter reality.

I tried to translate the lyrics from Finnish to English, hopefully helps!
    "Kulkukoirat" ("Stray dogs")
    Topi:
"I played the "Son of Lapland" with the harmonica
    The only song I knew
You listened to it quietly until the end
There I sat with the old Wanderer
We often spent the nights outdoors."
    Chorus:
"Like stray dogs we roamed the country
Like stray dogs we roamed the country"
    Kari:
"You were a man who had fought wars, but still a wanderer
I guess you had gypsy blood in your veins
We rarely worked and we left again
But I never saw you having any money
Still, we once visited the city of Sorrento"
(Note: Sorrento is also a bar in Kari's former hometown of Kuopio, Finland)
    Chorus:
"Like stray dogs we roamed the country
Like stray dogs we roamed the country"
    Reijo:
"I never knew my own father
But I got a best friend in you
You told me a lot, I asked more
We sat on the stairs of the barracks
We shared the sausages and beers"
(Note #2: Reijo did meet his own father, but he died of a heart attack when Reijo was three years old in 1943. He later told that he didn't remember much of his father)
    Chorus:
"Like stray dogs we roamed the country
Like stray dogs we roamed the country"
    Topi:
"And we were waiting for the train at the station
We were barked at as bums again
An old overcoat, a cig under a felt hat
Still, you belonged to the elite of wanderers
You could tell the empty carriages from afar"
    Chorus:
"Like stray dogs we roamed the country
Like stray dogs we roamed the country"
    Topi:
"At the time of Christmas, in the winter frost
I took you to the Hotel Liekki for the night
Your journey ended, and when you were taken away, I was thinking:
    I guess we lived like
    in a Finnish western movie.
You also saw the reverse side of the medal"
    Chorus:
"Like stray dogs we roamed the country
Like stray dogs we roamed the country
Like stray dogs we roamed the country
Like stray dogs we roamed the country"
    In Memory of the
    "Highwaymen of Finland":
    Kari Tapio 1945-2010
    Reijo Taipale 1940-2019
    Topi Sorsakoski 1952-2011

A fair cover but not even close to the raw and painful nostalgia of Guy Clark's original.
