    just a wonderful video!!! i would never have thought that there would be so many dicrossus in one area. i loved the aequidens with the red on the dorsal and the "one-spot" daemoni look different than anything i have ever seem. thanx so much

      Moenkhausia collettii apparently, though the red tails are not obvious in this video

      Turtles are, in general, protected. But also a traditional food in the area. River people might catch them for own consumption, which might be permitted. There is also certainly local trading going om

    Do you mean Rio Ariranha (with an n) in south brazil ? If so, I though most of the variation of fish like in this video is only seen in the Amazon river systems ? Feel absoluty free to give us more details.

      i think rio ariraha is a tributary to the rio negro south of barcelos.
