It is fascinating to watch so many different species of fish, that we normally see encased in aquariums, swimming freely in thousands of gallons of water! i have to get my head under the river next time I visit a tropical location.
Here are the species of Characins that I see in this Video. For Tetras: Iguanodectes adujai, Hemigrammus belloti Dash dot tetra, Hyphessobrycon paepkei seen around 7:00 and 7:15mins look like Hyphessobrycon bentosi/ rosaceus ; Rosy tetra or Hyphessobrycon jackrobertsi Robert's Tetra but it's caudal fin only is half red or has only one red oval on the top half of tail fin, Hemigrammus strictus Red Base tetra, Hemigrammus coeruleus the males when spawning turn bright blood red. Hemigrammus matei The red eyed species with yellowish green lateral stripe and black spot in the center of caudal pendunicle, Paracheridon axelrodi Cardinal Tetra. The reddish finned bronzy green greenish tetras are Moenkhausia copei Moenkhausia oligolepis Glass Tetra and lastly I think that I see Hyphessobrycon heliacus Kitty Tetra. Now for Pencilfish we see Nannostomus trifaciatus Three-lined Pencilfish, Nannostomus marginatus Dwarf pencil fish, Nannostomus eques Tubenose/Brown Pencilfish and Nannostomus digrammus two lined pencilfish For Hatchetfish Carnegiella strigata vesca Marble Hatchetfish and Copella calloplepis.
Other tetras seen in the video are a Curimatopsis species, Hemigrammus bellottii, Gnathocharax steindachneri and I think a Pyrrhulina species. I did not see any other rosy tetra than Hyphessobrycon paepkei. Also no H. heliacus and Hemigrammus matei, only some H. ocellifer-type species.
Espectacular, me encantó este video, me da buenas referencias para mejorar el biotopo de mi acuario, gracias por difundir este video. Me será de mucha ayuda para tomar ideas
Thanks maratecoara that's really beautiful. I had to watch it through to the end. So many fish. I wonder, what were they feeding on ? Also, I was surprised not to see so many green plants unlike in aquaria.
what is that tetra at 7:03 then? from the look of it i think it has to belong to the hyphessobrycon genus. but i dont thnk i have ever seen it at the market here in my city and i dont think i have ever come across any pic of the fish over the internet either.
the water is that color because trees/roots/leaves when they get in contact with the water they free a thing called tannin that make the water in this brown color, it doesnt indicate that is poluted :)
This is pure guesswork; but after a bit of googling I'd say some kind of Erythrinidae, maybe Hoplerythrinus unitaeniatus. Also known as Golden Wolf Fish, or Traira. I'm fairly certain, but it's a guess.

Do you know if Laetacara curviceps are found in these rivers with these fish?
Are wild rosy tetras from same place?
Which of those tetras had the pink dot at the tailfin? Never seen that one before.
Awesome, Thanks so Much Brady!!! Take Care: Shawn

Красные неончики и нанностомусы особенно порадовали
Awesome video !!!
Does anyone know what kind of loricariids or corydoras are present here? Shrimps or snails? Thx :)
What kind of tetras are at 21:34?
Those with the bright/"glowing" eyes...?
+Steffan Jansen van Vuuren If you mean the small grey fish with bright glowing eyes you see at 6:26: the aren't tetra's, they are Fluviphylax.
Which species shows up at around 4.40, the one at the surface with shiny blue eyes? If you know it?
Oh, found it - Fluviphylax. Cool fish, I have always loved their African relatives.
Nice video!
Espectacular!
What time of year was this?
january

H. bentosi is the closest guess
Hyphessobrycon paepkei
Hyphessobrycon copelandi
marbled hatchet fish at 5.40 and 19.41

are there any catfish here? I can't seem to spot any
What is the Name of the Lightning Eyes fishes in Minutes 6 on the watet Surface?
a Fluviphylax species
what are those tetras between 7:00 and 7:15 ? Some kind of Hyphessobrycon?
No, i`m pretty shure this is Hyphessobrycon rosaceus.
Mesonauta festivus 3:51 - 4:42 and also Hero
The water seems filthy. I wonder if that's silt or from man made causes. The fish don't seem to mind.
the water is that color because trees/roots/leaves when they get in contact with the water they free a thing called tannin that make the water in this brown color, it doesnt indicate that is poluted :)
Qual espécie é essa: 3:55?
I think Mesonauta Festivus
