I actually know an obese woman who works from home, has no social life and lives through the gossip and news about media celebrities. If this was taken from her, she would collapse.
I broke my leg too but my friends lost their legs… war is a nightmare, you scream and scream but you never wake up. Now my grandchildren give me meaning. Salute.
As Eren from "Attack on Titan" answered when asked of why he continues to live, he said "because I was born into this world, I just keep moving forward" . Continue toward your goals simply in spite of being born, and if you have no goals, make living itself your goal. Many people may find it cringy since it was said by an anime character, and the quote being very generic, but it actually gave me motivation to feel alive, and want to exist either way. There was also a man who of which said something similar, and went by "Albert Camus" "The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion."
This reminds me of Nietzsche's idea of free will. He says freewill is not real and we need to embrace ourselves instead of trying to change ourselves. Just like eren. He didnt want to chnage himself he wanted to embrace the fight and keep moving. Because thats what he was made for.

Meaning is so important. It’s one thing we cannot bear. Meaninglessness. Even if there is a universal meaning, it’s likely beyond our comprehension. We must use wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to make our own meaning of it all. What is valuable to us. What is important. What is significant. Obviously, we must use resources outside of ourselves to further our own understanding, but we may all have different meanings and purposes. That’s good tho. It is what makes us unique and keeps us alive.
This was amazing. Thank you. It makes me sad that youtube can spread things like this...but instead, I get 50 RUclipsrs competing for a million dollars shoved down my throat. There's nothing wrong with that...but what's wrong with the world is that more people are not seeing and thinking about things like this.
What you’re ‘supposed to do’ is such a subjective matter. It differs greatly from culture to culture, society to society, age to age, person to person. But find what gives you meaning. Find what gives you strength. Find what makes it worthwhile for you. That’s your purpose and your meaning.
I work in nature almost every day, it has thought me so much and it has given me meaning in meaninglessness. I see myself/visualised myself as a tree that has endless growth potential, no matter in which way we wander/grow, it will eventually come back to ourselfs. Our roots/core. I would say, spend time with subjets that you are interested in, and JUST DO IT. Take action and start learning about that subject. meaning will fade away because you are not looking/searching for meaning anymore.
What is absurd is how something so simple is warped into something so misunderstood. The meaning of life is simple, leave the world a better place than it was when you got here. It doesn't have to be monumental, only incremental. And if everyone did their part then it would equal monumental change. Suffering is a necessary ill that will grind the weak into chaff as the useless beings they are or it will forge a man into steel. That steel must then be tempered by wisdom, then you are able to fulfill your purpose. But it will never happen sitting on the couch playing video games! It won't happen when only existing in one's "comfort zone". One has to step outside it to discover their power, talents, and God given gifts. None of these things are easy but each one is a great accomplishment and one will never gain true confidence without it. And the most important key to all this is respect, not in the respect you show others but the respect others see for yourself.
I agree with Camus and Arendt, Camus, in that absurdism may help one person, Arendt, as when used for its epistemology in the masses, it can fuel totalitarianism/genocide, as leaders use meaning and purpose for propaganda to fill the void that is absurd existence.
Yes for sure, that is a danger of meaninglessness and absurdism. No ultimate meaning means that individuals are left to foster there own, regardless of how morally corrupt or iniquitous it is. That must be guarded against, hence me mentioning seeking inspiration, validation, and reinforcement from other sources regarding your meaning and how you understand it. Thanks for your comment.
Funny, when I said it's all absurd I really said you are all insane (and I'm not). Time gave me justice. Listening to another's philosophy (view on life) and trying to apply it to your own is of course absurd (illogical). Non sequitur
If you don’t know what a value is how can you apply it to your life? Meaning that We all need a spiritual connection to balance us out in life. If you only live one sided then you will never be stable.
To rely on the government strips you of your own individual freedoms and capabilities. That’s why when I see people, specifically in the UK and the USA begging for politicians to save them, I think it’s misguided and ill informed.
if you explain Absurd-ism to me and suddenly it makes sense...doesn't that automatically nullify it and defeat its sense of purposelessness which was its entire purpose to begin with? Unless of course you r deliberately trying to confound and disorient me...then you are being absurd and therefore serving its purpose beautifully...which is also against the grain of the absurd.
Well Absurdism claims there’s no ultimate purpose. It does not aim to impose. It leaves it for discussion. I personally don’t know whether there is or isn’t an ultimate meaning and purpose to life, but all we can is try to figure it out and do the best we can at being purposeful.
Not necessarily. Because the ubermensch, from Nietzsche’s understanding, would be someone who created their own values. Jesus adopts God’s values. And lives them out. Not taking anything away from him. He is supposed to be the ideal man. But I don’t think he could’ve been classified as an ubermensch. I don’t think anyone can or could have. We all rely on some inspiration to develop our values. We cannot create them. I guess we find them.
@@mditt7 Good way to put it. I stand corrected. Still don’t know if it would classify as an ubermensch though? Nietzsche got some things right, but like we all do, got things wrong too.

We do what we suppose to do, not meant to do. Within us always struggle to be the meant to be. But we are driven to suppose to do.
