This is such a beautiful performance. It embodies everything in the finest traditions of guitar playing. I find it a ghastly indictment, that most of today’s “ Guitar Players”, will never hear these wonderful sounds. God Bless, Maestro.
Saw him play at a club in SF when I was 16. Loved it and was blow away. I talked to him and asked if he would give me lessons. He was really modest and declined saying he doesn't teach.
One of the finest jazz guitarists of all time is now jamming with the greats in heaven! He was one of the finest gentlemen and such a great friend, husband and father. We will miss you Eddie! Thank you for the love you gave us through your playing.
Eddie and his wife played all the festivals in the Bay-area. He had a good sense of humor and so did his brother Danny. 94, not bad. I have a recording with Bass player Dean Rielly accompanying singer Ree Brunell recorded in 1957. I played all 4 tracks on my radio show in the 70's. Eddie was also part of a tribute for columnist Herb Caen.
Rest in peace dear sweet Eddie. Today 11-22-19 is a sad day for sure. The world lost a great legend and sweet kind soul. I am glad we have these videos to remember you by.
Eddie Duran is one of the last Guitar Greats from his era, a sweet and kind Gentleman, and His Wife Mad on Saxophones and Flute are such a pleasure to encounter. May they continue playing and being basically the First Couple Of Jazz in S.F. for many more years to come.
What a great guitarist - very much underrated. He made a wonderful record called "Ginza" for Concord records. I pulled it out again as I didn't listen to it for a long time. Nice sound - great stuff.
Eddie Duran seems to be completely forgotten and it is so unfair. He is one of the last big jazz masters and he played with the biggest (like Ch. Parker or S. Getz...) . He looks so humble, so modest, while the new generation very often is so arrogant and pretentious.
This prelude is wonderful and proves MUSIC knows and chooses Eddie Duran among the Happy few .The way B.Goodman looks, listens and admires Eddie Duran incredible musicianship is the real legacy we share .
The definition of intimidation for a jazz guitarist: having Benny Goodman looking over your shoulder and listening to you and comparing you to Charlie Christian.
Wow - very beautiful! I never heard of Eddie Duran before, but this is world class jazz guitar playing. And I agree, his composed, focused and easy attitude only adds to the performance.
Beautiful! Eddie's of the school where every note meant something, I love how he focuses on producing music and not aping for the camera or audience. wonderful!
Oh, wow! Is that Benny Goodman walking off to the side around 1:50 or so? I used to live in a flat above Eddie in S.F. back in the early 1980s - a really sweet man. I always knew when he got done with a nice gig because really garlicy cooked steak smells would come wafting up. Incredible player!
Jim remembers when Eddie buit a guitar in wood shop at Hillsdale High School. Eddie is a man of many talents! and as diverse as all great humans are!~Keep Playing Eddie! Love and Hugs,Pip & Jim xoxo
Obviously, Joe Pass is one of the best, ever. But, when the guys are good, we must appreciate each one in its own context, and avoid comparisons which won't add any creative thing to the art of the performers compared.

I really am not into Jazz, but this is breathtaking to watch and hear. His small exspressions in the notes. Beautiful, Truly Beautiful.
What a complete and tasty player. A beautiful, balanced tone and in complete command of the instrument. Great, period.

He played on the Charlie Brown tracks with Vince Guaraldi too.

Gibson L-5?
This track or video needs replacing - it hangs up, stutters and stops. Very vexing for
a lovely solo by Eddie.
