    Very good demo, very useful.
    I bought a TR707 two days ago, so it will help me a lot 😊

    Good demo. Yes, you can easily make flams in step mode too, just push the instrument button twice at first when you choose drum. To get back to "normal" drum hits just choose the drum again (of course only aplies to BD, SD, L-M-HT).

    With the Sync Mode for example, you can connect a 303 directly with your 707 or with a 606. You can also use an old Korg KMS-30 Sync Box for using more than 2 machines, not really expensive and works fine without a DAW.

    Here’s how you can Flam in step-write mode. In step-write mode, the flam action is more of a toggle on the instrument button. For instance: starting from any Instrument other than the snare, select the snare (this will put the unit in regular action mode). Now to enable flam for the snare, select the snare instrument again (essentially toggling the mode), this will put the snare in a flam action mode. To go back to regular mode just re-select the snare again. See how it’s essentially just a toggle between regular and flam? Neat and simple stuff!

    Please do a video on how to make a track. Ive noticed that you can make a 707 loop sequences of patterns! I don't know how. IE Making it go Pattern 1 to 2 to 3 to 2 to 4 and loop. This was a great video! Thank you!

    • @scyhte82
      @scyhte82  9 лет назад

      Drew Carlson no problem. if you just want adjacent patterns to loop together you simply press the buttons for your desired first and last pattern at the same time while in pattern play mode and the 707 will automatically loop that block of patterns. if you permanently want to chain patterns together you have to be in pattern write mode and while the unit is stopped hold the first and the last pattern button and press enter.
      for more complex song programming you can also try track mode where you can arrange your patterns in sequences.

    Hi scyhte82, thank you for your video. That helped a lot. Nonetheless, do you know how to do that the other way round? Do you know how to sync Roland TR-707 as a MIDI master (sending MIDI data, i.e. not receiving) to Ableton (i.e. not only start and stopp, but MIDI information e.g. hitting the Bass Drum button on the TR will generate a MIDI note in Ableton). The Roland TR-707 Manual is suggesting it.. Could you make a video about it? Appreciation

  • @Barbadel

    Thanks for such a great video. While watching it I've noticed that you seem to be able to change the volume of individual instruments using the different faders. Is there anything in particular that needs to be done in order to be able to use these faders cause on my own 707, only the main Volume fader seem to affect volume for all instruments at once? Thanks again!

    • @scyhte82
      @scyhte82  8 лет назад

      +Barbadel hmm, not that i know of. normally all the faders should work right from the start. i didn't have to set anything nor do i know of any kind of setting available for the faders. they also function regardless of what instrument outs are connected on the back. the main fader will set the master out and the others the individual instrument outs. i'm afraid your 707 has got some issues.

    • @Barbadel
      @Barbadel 8 лет назад +1

      +scyhte82 I finally got them working... Following your answer, I decided to dig a little deeper and it turns out that it was all caused by a bunch of dirty faders... A little shot of contact cleaner and all the faders are now as good as new. Thanks! :-)

    May I ask the model of mixer you're using in this video, and do you like it? I'm looking for one that's a similar number of channels with aux sends. Thanks.

    • @scyhte82
      @scyhte82  3 года назад +1

      its a mackie cr1604-vlz (16 ch, 4 sub ch, and 4 sends), but i believe there's different model of it where the older ones usually sound better when overdriven. this one doesn't but apart from that it's a good unit if you get it for cheap like i did.

    The issue I keep having is it will sync but does not start one the one when I restart ableton, it seems to want to start where is was last when the seq was turned off. I'm I doing something wrong?

    • @scyhte82
      @scyhte82  Год назад +1

      I could be wrong but iirc thats because live sends a pause message the 707 doesnt understand. Try clicking the stop button in live or bind it to a key or controller and then press start again and see if that helps. Only thing i can think of.

    great video man, one basic thing i cant find anywhere.. how do i save the sequence once the loop is done with the tr 707?

    • @scyhte82
      @scyhte82  9 лет назад +1

      Andres Zevallos the patterns are automatically written to the memory in real time while you edit them, so there's no need to save anything. the downside is that you can easily change your patterns by accident.

    • @andreszevallos9067
      @andreszevallos9067 9 лет назад

      ***** correct, but what if i want to save those loops on the cartdrige? i see you are not using it, i dont know why it just last for a few days my loops without using the cartdrige, but then the loops are all gone. i dont want to loose them anymore, would appreciate some help, thanks again man.

    • @scyhte82
      @scyhte82  9 лет назад +1

      ah ok, i see... no, i haven't got or used a cartridge for it yet. normally my patterns are saved until i delete them manually.
      i have just looked into mine and saw it's got batteries in it. and after a little research i found out that these are actually needed for saving patterns since the 707 doesn't seem to have some kind of internal memory battery.
      so maybe it's just the batteries being near dead. have you checked for that?
      and if changing the batteries won't help, you could also try saving your patterns to a simple cassette via the small tape in and out jacks on the back. at least the manual told me so. never tried that either but i will one day, just for the hell of it. :)

    • @andreszevallos9067
      @andreszevallos9067 9 лет назад

      ***** yeah read about those internal batteries too, but in my case thats why i bought the cartridge.. to save the patterns in there, but cant figure out how to save with it yet im a bit frustrated :(

    • @scyhte82
      @scyhte82  9 лет назад +1

      but you could simply buy new batteries and put them in. so you wont have to use the cartridge and would be able to save your patterns in your 707. you just have open the battery lid on the bottom. no screwdriver required or anything, only simple aa batteries. ;)

    Thanks! How could i, using 707 as master clock, trigg a tetra dsi? Can you help me with the connections... 😊

    • @scyhte82
      @scyhte82  8 лет назад

      +Lomaśa Ṛṣi Dasa you mean syncing the tetra to the 707? because triggering the tetra with the 707 wouldn't make much sense, would it? i mean you can do it, you just have to slave the tetra to the 707 (707 MIDI out to Tetra MIDI In) which should act as sync master unless you have set it to one of the sync modes. now it should also automatically receive notes from the 707. but every instrument plays just one note to the tetra. you can set these notes somehow but i didn't bother trying yet.

    • @scyhte82
      @scyhte82  6 лет назад +1

      it increases the volume of that particular step in the sequence - globally, for all instruments. you can set the increase with the accent slider.
