It's my uncle who invented the technique to injection mold clear plastic without getting the white stretchmarks (which you also get if you bend or damage the plastic). He still owns the patents to that technique today. 😎 Injection molded clear plastics are used in A LOT of products today. Just look in your kitchen how many items are made of clear plastic. 😉

Hahaha yep, the tape recorder was indeed ready to go! Cassette tape in it, had to press play + record at the same time (don't know why both buttons though) and also pause because it only had to record the good song from the radio and releasing pause was quicker than pressing play + record at the same time. But I didn't wait for hours for a song to air though. Would get the Top 40 chart on paper at the music store just to know when 'my' song would air (approximately) ;-)
The record button was locked to avoid accidentally pressing record. By pressing play at the same time it unlocked the record button. Back then there was no safety lock on the cassette yet. Another reason was that the record head worked in conjunction with the playback heads. The playback heads actually recorded the audio coming in from the recording head which only transfered the sound of the microphone or radio to the other heads.
Harold Bluetooth was also king of England, so even more to unite. But I heard his teeth were blue because he ate a lot of blueberries. My first cd was by a Dutch band, Urban Dance Squad. Not a soccer fan myself, maybe I'm not Dutch enough, gasp. Cruijf was a legend for his sayings too, like Yogi Berra. The intent was to drive a stretch of racing track slaloming around pylons; each pylon hit incurred a penalty of five seconds on the end time. Maus decided to floor the pedal and go straight over each and every pylon incurring a penalty of 100 seconds ..... he however was so much faster than other drivers he still won the event. He invented the speed camera after becoming frustrated by the inaccuracies of manual timing using stopwatches, so he invented this as a device to accurately record the times and speeds of competitors. I don't know whether Maus himself offered his device to the government, which I doubt seeing he loved driving at high speed, but I can imagine a race-loving civil servant seeing this device and seeing an other, more vile application, and persuading the higher ups to contact Maus to develop a policing variant. I can't blame him for agreeing to develop such if there would be a demand of hundreds - if not thousands - from the Dutch government alone.

Ayye i saw my hometown, well kinda. The bottle of gin called "anker" is our local distillery which is also a beerbrewer. Our little town of Weesp (really close to amsterdam) was famous for its jenever way back in the day and now we recently had a distillery opening back up in our old church, really cool to see and our beer and gin are still top tier stuff if you ask me

Ayye i saw my hometown, well kinda. The bottle of gin called "anker" is our local distillery which is also a beerbrewer. Our little town of Weesp (really close to amsterdam) was famous for its jenever way back in the day and now we recently had a distillery opening back up in our old church, really cool to see and our beer and gin are still top tier stuff if you ask me
