My friend and I are having a no buy year ( apart from absolute essentials) . She did it last year too and saved thousands , that’s how she bought her car .
I absolutely love that you didn’t want to disturb the cats. I have three cats, two budgies and one cockatiel. A lot of my life involves not disturbing the birds or offending the cats.
Hello Sean Loving the test tube ladder, I had a smaller one a few years ago and it looked great with gerbera's and lavender in them, the bees loved it too till my cat took a shine to it and tried to go for a swing, hence why I said used to have 😂 Like you i was finding it hard to get back into a routine this week as school started back, the back twinges are a firm reminder that im back to normal ! Take care Sean 💜
This year I didn’t put up Christmas decorations. Instead I opted for natural winter themed decor like garlands and fairy lights for a nice nighttime glow. We already had all of that. I added berries and thrifted icicles. The look cozy and it can stay up until March. We live on wooded land so it was nice bringing the outdoors in. Next year I’ll go foraging and plant up the outside urns with trees we can plant the following summer. Just waiting for some of my shrubs to get big enough for cuttings. I try hard to only thrift seasonal decor or take from our yard. 😊 Can’t wait for spring! Your place is coming along nicely.
Hi Sean, I attended Bullers Wood School for Girls in Chislehurst (Bromley, Kent) where they had a strong history with William morris. Our “main block” which was original from when the school was first built had several walls and ceilings decorated by William morris himself, was one of the first things I learnt attending the school and always loved the history!
Nice to see you, Sean. I like your idea of taking the green colour and painting the fire surround. I feel that some colour is warranted in your front room. Lol. Your home looks very cosy. Isn't it nice to start a new year with a fresh slate and the hope of the future. Nice. Well done on the weight loss, by the way.
Morning Sean ❤️ happy new year. I love where your desk is now, I bet it’s a amazing view. Your curtains are just so beautiful they just make the desk nook look so inviting, see you soon x
Love the picture. You can always use two or three mats and enlarge the new frame. The green and pink would work as mats. Don’t know if framing is as expensive there as it is here, in the states, but it is a lovely picture.
Your Erigeron Karvinskianus (mexican fleabane daisy) that you planted in the cottage garden border roots very well in water, it will be ideal for rooting in your propagation station test tubes.
I always find the weeks immediately after Christmas the ideal time to refresh the house by donating unused or unwanted items. The New Year lends itself to wanting a clean slate to start the year. I love the pictures you chose.
I already had a rack with glass tubes in my bedroom in the 1970s. It's very funny that nowadays TikTok calls everything new while they just bring something back from the 1970s. 🙂
The picture is lovely but I agree it’s too small. It will look great on a wall that is a better size for it maybe in the summer house? Happy New Year and really look forward to your second year in Wales!
I’m the same Sean concerning de-cluttering the home, I prefer less and got rid of a lot of bits and bobs, no more ornaments and clutter for me 😅. Enjoying your videos immensely- thanks for posting
I loved the photo of William Morris you have brought back memories of my dog whose name was William Morris a beautiful fox terrier. The room that you are in which is upstairs looks really cosy. Well done Sean for losing that amount of weight 👏👏👏👏.
Hello Sean thank you for the video, interesting you have not had much snow here on Wirral we have been having more than usual. It's gradually disappearing, my gardens are getting quite green again with small leaves sprouting , natures stirring once again . All the best for 2025. 🎉🌞👍
I've.missed the walks around Too Good to Waste. I like walking around those places but I don't buy anything anymore because I'm trying to minimize what I have now. But best not to tempt myself. It's amazing how the money adds up. Same seeing stuff online. I save it on wanted list and usually in a few days I don't even want it anymore. Yes, I agree, you do need a picture or mirror size appropriate for above the fireplace. Nos da.
I have removed all paint from wood Fireplaces made of wooden mantelpiece and sides Are too beautiful to paint The wood is usually beautiful if given a breath.
You're on a roll! Great video. Im going to buy that Wm. MORRIS cat picture as I have two black cats. One is a Tuxedo. Also, ee just got 12" of snow in Cincinnati. This has stopped everything. A city built on SEVEN HILLS, literally, no one and nothing has gotten done for days. I was camped out at the local Ace Hardware this morning hoping to get my allotment of 2 bags of salt. I got them!
With more, and more people utising their front gardens for ORP, it is becoming rarer and rarer to see a splash of colour from all the wonderful variety of plants. My dad would walk past, and take a cutting of anything which caught his eye. He sure did have green fingers, wherever he doinked it into our front garden, it grew. So much so, ours looked like a Jackson Pollock, almost all year around. You can win a competition nowadays for the best kept garden 😂
Its nice to see you getting back into the swing of things Sean, I agree, think a larger picture would be best, more effective, stay warm and stay safe, soup day today in this freezing weather, ❤
I have 2 kitties, having just had a good breakfast, are now having a good sleep. I have decided, as a fresh start to cast aside my diet Pepsi habit and take up tea. I saw that they even had Yorkshire tea at Walmart. 🇨🇦🙂👍👍😽😽
I really like the black cat picture and the tree painting. I agree that it feels like the cat picture is small for the area above the fireplace. Congrats on the progress you have made on your fitness goals!
I like the too good shops also, maybe when you get a car you could do a tour of them all,ive been to the one in merthyr and llantrisant but my local is in penalta and Ive bought some lovely items,The tree reminded me of the lonely tree on saundersfoot beach, and the cat on the william morris print was very nice, you will have to get another to represent your other moggy.
Hi Sean, best plan not taking down the decorations until 12th night as to take them down before is unlucky! We did that and we've still had some bad luck but that another story! 😅 I really like the tree picture such wonderful colours and I thought your John Boy nooke set up looks so cozy. Perfect. 👍🏻 Good on you re the weight loss thing keep going Sean! 👍🏻 Looking forward to your Homestead update. Take care and catch up soon.
Id put the morris picture by backdoor to enhance the blind and the tree picture at top of stairs for inspiration for the next day. Love the tube ladder, what a great idea. The video of putting a year's worth together, maybe pick the last week of every month to show end result of that month. Happy New Year to you and everybody watching 🎉
Too small for the space but if you add a larger sized mirror next to it. This creates an illusion of size. The cat pic slightly infront of the mirror sitting on the mantle and then add a posy, or forage find of the moment hung above it. Also place slight off center and counter with a large candle stick at the other end of the mantle... :)
It takes me two days to put all my trimmings out and 2 days to put it all away 😅 I decorating front room, kitchen, toilet, landing and even some in the bathroom. I even change over all my crockery for christmas themed then change back. It is a chore but I do love it when its all up for December, love the cosy lighting.
What a good idea to have a de-clutter and clean through. It takes a while to really settle into a new home and make it your own. I'm still doing that now after eighteen months! (although it hasn't taken me that long to sort my garden, even though it is quite big, lol! I guess I know where my priorities lay!!) I agree, you do need a larger picture above your fireplace, as a feature. Thank you again for making these videos. I really do enjoy them
Love the William Morris print but it's too small above the fireplace. You could put ornaments on the shelf of the fireplace. When decluttering I go through a room at a time and include all storage areas, it's a good feeling when it's done
Merry 12th night Sean. I think a large painting would do well over that fireplace. About 3-4 times bigger than that cat. Warm colors and Welsh-like landscape? We too had snow in Ocean County New Jersey.
When you paint the fireplace, it will give it a pop of color the picture will look fine over the mantle. It's not too small. You could add other things on the mantel on either side.
Hi Sean Happy New Year to you and thanks for all your very entertaining videos throughout 2024 and in previous years too- I’ve really enjoyed watching them and no doubt there’s lots more to come! Take care and enjoy 2025😃
Thank you for taking us with you on your thoughts for the New Year ahead. Look forward to seeing what you are going to be up to at The Rusty Homestead tomorrow. Blessings from a cold and frosty (snow is a possibility, but we have not had any here yet) West Devon, England, and Jilly & Madge. xxx
Dark frames work better for quite small pics or paintings, that dark one is too dominant and demanding, pictures need to blend in and not shout at you . only my opinion
Lovely to see you back with us Sean. Certainly cold at the moment isn't it ..Looking forward to see your next episode. Love your pictures and the cuttings rack too. Have a good day Sean and keep warm ..
Happy New Year Sean 🎉 Would love to see a peruse through the seeds and possible layout/placement of said veg. Inspiration for us all in the depths on Winter. Oh and a yoga demonstration could be a hoot 😉 were you so inclined. I'd watch the heck out of that 😊 Of course it's the chit chat that makes it better. Meandering down the paths of your musings is ever a delight ❤
I love that picture Sean, it's beautiful. I would keep the fireplace as it is. Why not paint the chimney breast wall a nice green as a feature wall. Would look fabulous. I've got mine a dark forest green but yours would look beautiful the same colour as the leaves in the picture...would take 3 or 4 coats mind 👍👍👍👍❤️
Hi Sean. Happy New Year from Northumberland 😁 I have just watched the latest video and enjoyed it as usual👍🏻 I have been trying to find your live stream link for the homestead but can’t. Do you only have it on when you are down there? Best regards Ian
@angelapitkin7097 Me too. I also started painting last march, so I have painted the dogs and husband and a few close friends children. Won't make the National Gallery, but we like them. 😂
Love the cuttings ladder idea. The tree picture is beautiful. Are you able to decorate your home and make alterations? I wish i could get my home in an ordered state, my mind is so muddled. Take care 🤗
Looks like a great plan for 2025- fitness, maybe a car and of course continued work on the homestead. Looking forward to all future videos. Yes, that pic is lovely but too small for that space. I think a beautiful print of the Welsh countryside or a large mirror. Impressive spring/winter clean out. Feels so good when all is in order. I will be having knee replacement surgery the beginning of Feb so getting all the bits and bobs done now as well as making up some freezer meals. Will help a lot with my recovery and help hubbie out too who is definitely not a cook.
@colleenmckinlay2916 Hello Colleen, I'm currently in hospital after having a total hip replacement. Today is day 2 and going extremely well. They had me walking 2 hours after I got to the ward and doing physiotherapy twice a day and walking around in between. Good luck with your knee replacement and follow the Doctors orders! Take care, Goldie X
I’d put a big mirror above the mantle - it’ll make the room feel bigger. The artwork could go around the room
Love that painting of the tree 😊
My friend and I are having a no buy year ( apart from absolute essentials) . She did it last year too and saved thousands , that’s how she bought her car .
I absolutely love that you didn’t want to disturb the cats. I have three cats, two budgies and one cockatiel. A lot of my life involves not disturbing the birds or offending the cats.
😁 Cats are so easily offended…
Lol yep how dare you

William Morris would look lovely next to the bedroom writing desk.
This year I didn’t put up Christmas decorations. Instead I opted for natural winter themed decor like garlands and fairy lights for a nice nighttime glow. We already had all of that. I LOVE IT! BIGGER WOULD BE BETTER!
Sounds like your on a roll...good plans, thanks for sharing.
Wow, is it still T-shirt weather there in South Wales? Here in Yorkshire it’s 0C by day and down to -10C at night!😂😂😂
Hi Sean, I attended Bullers Wood School for Girls in Chislehurst (Bromley, Kent) where they had a strong history with William morris. Just thinking Sean, you could paint the wall over fireplace dark green and put a lot of simila framed pictures on it❤
Maybe consider a second picture of the same size from the William Morris Cats Collection and hang as a pair over the mantle? I saw a few on Etsy.
Nice Tree Of Life painting😊
Nice to see you, Sean. I like your idea of taking the green colour and painting the fire surround. I feel that some colour is warranted in your front room. Lol. Your home looks very cosy. I already had a rack with glass tubes in my bedroom in the 1970s. It's very funny that nowadays TikTok calls everything new while they just bring something back from the 1970s. 🙂
Retro or vintage is what they call it now. Vintage from the 70's, 80's & 90's makes me feel very old🤣🤣
The picture is lovely but I agree it’s too small. It will look great on a wall that is a better size for it maybe in the summer house? Happy New Year and really look forward to your second year in Wales!
It's like being in the arctic here. 4 inches of snow that has frozen solid so cannot go anywhere. Oh well. Love the William Morris picture.
I’m the same Sean concerning de-cluttering the home, I prefer less and got rid of a lot of bits and bobs, no more ornaments and clutter for me 😅. Enjoying your videos immensely- thanks for posting

@seanjamescameron Off Road Parking. 👍
@@seanjamescameronGlad you asked that, because I was racking my brains😂😂
Aberdare Park is particularly beautiful in the frost.

Love the William Morris print! 😊❤
Sometimes clutter can be Too much. But your desk looks very comfortable. But.
Don't we all like to surround ourselves with things we love
I LOVE the chair!
Yes I do find the house looks bare, but its kind of a good bareness...I am ready for the space and normality by then.
Too small for the space but if you add a larger sized mirror next to it. This creates an illusion of size. We've got a heatwave on Monday❤
You could have the picture reframed (or do it yourself) with a wider (colored) matting to make it larger for over the fireplace.
It takes me two days to put all my trimmings out and 2 days to put it all away 😅 I decorating front room, kitchen, toilet, landing and even some in the bathroom.
