The terrible flood referred to in the closing PSA was the Ohio River Flood, which began in January 1937, and lasted into February.
Another great episode. I started off listening to Dennis Day, so Kenny Baker is new to me. The kid is growing on me.
The Flood that is referred to by Don Wilson in the Closing is the Great Flood of 1937 the worst flood in the history of Cincinnati and other Cities along the Ohio River. Gives you a nice historical point of reference.
The Allen Benny fued was all for show. They were really very good friends. In fact Benny was on Fred's last show in 1949.
I think most people picked up on that.
Peter Lind Hayes impersonates Fred in Jack's "nightmare".
About 12 years later, Peter played the romantic lead in "The 5000 Fingers of Dr. T."
I guess it's youth, but Jack & Mary sound so different (high-pitched) as opposed to the television programs.
The best - giants
I'm new to this. kinda don't want to listen to Fred Allen cause if he's good I'll feel like a traitor. I'd hate to betray good ol Rochester.
hopefully you did, Jack really did like Allen. It was all fun!
