BC street was the club street, and I entertained the troops, dancing in many of them. Mostly at the Golden Star. Loved it when the guys were "short". Hated when they were drunk and too young to be killing people. Mostly R and R boys. They were so messed up by it. But great times even amongst all the heartaches. (I am English). The guys always loved to see me and talk to a "round eye'. They hated the booneys, and longed to get home.

Hmm, I don't know that one, but I do know she had 5 songs in the top 20 on the charts in the U.S. back in the day, "These Boots were made for walking" made number 1 in January1966 and "Sugar town" made 2nd spot in November of '66, " How does that grab ya darlin'" # 3 in april '66, "Love eyes " #4 in April '67, and " "Lightnings girl " in Sept.of '67, but The only one that anyone remembers is "These Boots" The rest I believe made the charts because of the last name.... BTW none of them were written by Nancy Sinatra, all that made the top 20 were written by Lee Hazelwood.

Then it became politically incorrect under the 'objectification' banner.
Then Miley Cyrus took all her clothes off for a video. Well, all the time actually.
      Then we all got confused.

Nancy was extremely out there and frankly (no pun intended) quite sensual - and an impressive singer in the process of escaping from the aura of the great - you know who and in her own right. More so for her brother. In contrast Nancy at least had her hit here that showed- up in in number of film soundtracks. This from a Kearny boy - just 29 minutes away from Hoboken

With all do respect to all her fans and admirers she was not really a good singer, if you listen carefully and analyze the sounds, she really just "talks" thru the whole recording, BUT, it came out just GREAT as a whole!

    • @MegaJustGeorge
      @MegaJustGeorge 4 месяца назад +1

Well, Casey, from what I remember, this video wasn't shown on television until the late Eighties, when VH-1 had it in heavy rotation; this video was made for a company called Color-Sonics, which was a film jukebox chain, akin to the larger brand of film jukebox known as Scopitone; the way it worked was as such - you dropped a quarter in the machine, pushed a button for the song you wanted to hear, and in addition to hearing the song, you got to see it performed.
Back in 1966, the majority of these Color-Sonics and Scopitone machines were located in venues with a predominantly male audience - taverns, lounges, clubs, bars, rumpus rooms, and so forth, so there was always going to be enough tease, if you will, to warrant one more quarter thrown into the machine.
Certainly there was much cheek - especially on the sweet blonde dancer in the Saturn Yellow sweater; in fact, after having seen this video so many times through the years, I've noticed that her hips and pelvis were much wider than those of the other dancers in the ensemble, and I suspect that she wanted more freedom of movement in her wardrobe, hence, the leg opening on her dancers' briefs were cut much higher than those of the other dancers - hence, I've grown rather fond of her, and as such, I lovingly call her, "Ms. Chubby Cheeks", for obvious reasons.

Yes, Johnny, only Nancy Sinatra could make this song the classic that it is; she's always imitated, but NEVER duplicated - Nancy Sinatra!

OMG! i remember when every girl in my school had to get white 'go-go' boots (though they're black in this video) and wear them with a mini skirt (or mini-dress) to school and cause all kinds of chaos - maybe even getting suspended HAHA :) this video is excellent and a lot of fun - thanks for posting it :)

the 1960's were so "groovy" to be sure - to bad there was a war, riots and assassinations and civil unrest, etc. - still , a GREAT time to have been alive :)

@@jimwoods2180 For all the shit coming down, there was a lot of good. Space Race, Audio and recording and TV Tech, Woodstock and positive music, Guess who's coming to dinner etc, and at the grass roots level of one on one a real feeling of getting together. Peace Jim.

Ahhh the memories of those white go go boots! Yup, you're 100% right. They were just IT. I'm 61 now, and can still remember Beth Wallace wearing those (along with her green plaid mini skirt). And my knees STILL buckle...

Those aren't GoGo boots. GoGo boots were knee high, like the one's Nancy Sinatra is wearing.

I will always love this song. I think I was about ten or so when I first heard it it..I also love Sugartown by Nancy Sinatra. I have played by ear since I was four years old. It was on my Grandmothers old pump organ. ( I thought everyone played pump organ)
until it was made aware that I had talent gifted from above) I have tried to play these
boots, but there is just no way. I love a challenge. Just keep going.

When she came into the world, her daddy, Frank Sinatra celebrated by recording and releasing "Nancy (With The Laughing Face)." Some two decades later, Nancy ain't laughing, she's pissed! Her performance on this record (the first of her two #1 hits) is anger incarnate (no matter how fun this video looks). And that's why this video is such a scream to watch and listen to (and I have the boot marks on my face to prove it).

On this day in 1966 {Feb. 27th} Nancy Sinatra performed "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'" on the CBS-TV program 'The Ed Sullivan Show'...
And one day earlier on February 26th it peaked at #1 {for 1 week} on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart...
R.I.P. Mr. Sullivan {1901 - 1974} and Ms. Sinatra will celebrate her 73rd birthday this coming June 8th...
