while viewership may be down on tech videos, your true followers appreciate them very much. Your knowledge is second to none, and to be able to get it for free on youtube is a blessing. I've purchased one of your shirts in hopes that it entices you to keep doing this. Thank you
Im the oddball that doesn't need fireworks celebrities and special effects. Please continue the tech tips and data deep dives. They are my favorite. An actual racer with a turbo car
If you’re worried about scaring off mass viewers with tech stuff, please make another channel. A whole bunch of us in here just to see how you do things, and catch bits of knowledge as we can. Videos like this one that’s chalked full of just knowledge is a huge blessing. I for one would watch every tech video you post. Likely multiple times. Keep it up man!
I think he won't scare off regular viewers. After all this is pretty much a tech channel, if he's machining or explaining probably doesn't matter that much to us. The only difference is that the explanation videos lack sick time lapse music 🤘 Overall views mainly depend on the title and thumbnail of the video. That's what get's random viewers, which in turn exites the algorithm which in turn gives you more random viewers again and so on...
Rule #1 - Only take advice from people that have done/learnt & have proven results from their years of hard work. Well done. Your videos like these are far ahead of most the stuff you see on RUclips.
Watch every video you put out, and I have no ability to use any of the info. I just resonate with your humor, music, craftsmanship, and sensibilities 👍👊🇺🇸🤘
As the son of an engineer who works in IT professionally, I really enjoy the technical videos. I turbocharged my first car in 1985 having no idea what I was doing. A 1978 BMW 320i with a kit that I bought out of a back of a magazine. If I had nearly immediately crashed the car, the kit probably would have destroyed the motor in short order, but it worked real well for a little while until I hit a dirt bank about 80 miles an hour.
Your tech vids are the only reason I watch. There's tons of guys that produce "car entertainment" videos. There's VERY few that make actually useful content. And even fewer guys are competent or successful enough to warrant My attention. Those (like You Pete) are the voices a lot of us seek out..
I like the Tech videos. But thats just what I think. I've always wondered how much faster Buddy Ingersoll's Buick Regal could have been with today's Turbo engine management. Good stuff my friend. Like button energized.
I learned everything you are talking about here back in 1996 when I bought my Buick Grand National T-Type. On street tires I could launch at 5 psi, around 3000 rpm. Go over that, I would blow my tires off and I would be throttling for a quarter mile doing the G-Body shuffle! 😅
This is incredibly interesting, this is the kind of quality information explained in an intelligent way that I’ve been looking for forever. No body puts in the effort to talk about the nitty gritty. I love it
I support the tech videos, please keep them coming! Total views might be lower, but those of us that are into the tech REALLY appreciate you taking the time.
The idiosyncrasies of turbos can definitely be complicating. With big changes in DA you can't even get up on the 2-step like what I saw with Garrett at Bandimere. Depending on your launch RPM you can have a similar issue. Cool to see this in detail. Thankfully it is a lot easier to figure out these days for the most part.
Go to a College or a School of Course’s that you can negotiate a bit of bargaining with. They help you with the Imaging & Display aspects… Tech the tech segment…. You can fix anything they got that’s broken. As, “Your Real Good At Fixin’ Stuff”
I might not be the norm but I like tech videos and learning. I won't watch certain RUclipsr because all they seem to do it want to break or ruin things most people would love to have
I remember when we worked with one of the 1st haltechs in the late 80s, haltech f3, had a radio shack laptop, and the screen was just a bar graph and did fuel only, locked out the distributor at 28 degrees and that was it. The basic components of the turbo system havent changed just now we have a sensor for everything, need one to weigh the driver also. Lol. But what you are saying makes so much sense, the consistency of starting line launch. Before transbrake and your right foot, now 2 step, co2 controls, ignition timing, and boost ramp.
I'm mainly watch you and Steve Moore's to learn things you guys don't hide when stuff breaks you guys find out how it breaks and that's more interesting and that way you learn what not to do it's hard for some people to say they don't know what the hell they're doing and there might be somebody out there smarter than them might not be there smarter than them but they broke a lot of stuff and now know not what to do😊
it would also be cool to see the tuning break down of round to round from an event. if cleetus gets you to send him tunes you can explain how you read the results to make improvements and win the event!
Once I got this right and all my advance tables dialed in. It was a game changer for everything. Makes it a lot easier when you know what it’ll do at the line so you can worry about the million other things. Love the tech videos.
Some people be shocked to find out pulling too much timing on a turbo car in good air actually makes mo power. Something something compressor not being directly connected to the crank and the relaxed timing energizing the exhaust to the turbine.
I'm sorry viewership is down on tech vids, I for one am grateful for them, and respect the gifts you are giving. Oh, BTW your intro song gets stuck in my head for hours sometimes days, lol... good tuney.
I Could definitely see where shaft speed and boost pressure in a log would be very beneficial, especially if you have barometric pressure, temp and humidity data with it. Talk about building a tune table for just about any condition! No more guesses on tune up after you have enough data. There's probably an easier way of doing this though....
Not a drag racer but enjoy the tech especially polishing turds. Retired almost 50 years in machine shops(job shops). Never worked in engine shops. Your shop and machines are so nice and organized. I can really appreciate that cuz I’ve worked in some crappy shops. Like watching you keep Cleetus tuned.
Fantastic video as usual Pete. Would be awesome if you could do a vid outlining the importance of manifold design in controlling boost. Its all too common to see someone struggling with boost creep because they've just slapped a gate on the side of a manifold with no thought about prioritizing exhaust flow to the gate
Anyone that does not like thie valuble info aint good at doing stuff and thats it . I much appreciate learning and you are a great teacher thanks for your knowedge .
It's always crazy to me how many people show up at the track with a car not ready to make a pass! I get doing normal between rounds maintenance and things like plug checks, but not having a car that runs properly in the first place is baffling!
First, I don’t know shit bout turbo systems. Think doing a series on turbo related tuning is a great thing. Also think doing a full explanation with schematics, definitions, and explanations of function and interactions of components, would take your lessons over the top. Getting everyone on the same sheet,as to what’s happening and not happening, to connect / manage the abstract of the two sides of the turbo, would take out much of the unintended shittalking, and circular arguments, in the conversation. As always, great stuff Pete…
Keep the tech coming! It's not a sexy wheelie or fireball, but the guys actually out there trying to be real good at doing stuff really appreciate this kind of content. Wouldn't mind seeing it go deeper - strategies for building and managing boost on the brake!
Thanks buddy! Great information Pete Im not sure why anyone would miss a chance to listen to tuning tips from a successful tuner. Sounds like a dumb idea. If a stock market magician walks up and says “this is how I pick my stocks” you’d better be listening. I already know you know what you’re talking about, so “I’m listening!” Great show! Thanks
Great amount of knowledge & we appreciate that from someone who knows what they're talking about not just feeding us a bunch of BS, thanks enjoy all your videos 👍
Pete, I enjoy your music on your channel and noticed you're using Cubase from your desktop icon. I've been an audio engineer recording and mixing bands for around 30 years now (yes I'm old). So, if you're ever in a pinch for time or need a little help working on a project/song drop me a line. I can accommodate Cubase or about any DAW. And, I love the tech videos and your original music. So refreshing to see someone who takes the time to create and share original music in their content.
I'm very interested in what you have to say about this. I am kinda out in the wilderness here....I don't really have any musician friends who can help me with this or even anyone I can bounce ideas off of. So many want an "album' or spotify option from me, but I don't have any idea what's involved in that. I work from the top down and know zero about mastering, etc. I have terrible problems with latency when using microphones on vocals or horns. All kinds of technical issues that I just have to come up with work arounds for. It would be nice to have someone to consult with occasionally.
@@realgoodatdoinstuff900 It's not terribly difficult to get your music on the streaming services. Probably the easiest way is to use one of the publishing services like Distro Kid or CDBaby. Latency issues can be tricky, and a lot of it depends upon the PC, DAW, and audio interface you're using. It gets pretty technical quickly when sorting out latency in some scenarios, but typically it's a matter of understanding buffer sizes and how each DAW handles latency compensation. I'm not sure how to get in contact, but I'd be happy to discuss your issues.

I’m with you! I just bought a shirt and found myself in here afterwards. I dig these style vids
Agreed. Subbed because of this tech
Im the oddball that doesn't need fireworks celebrities and special effects. Please continue the tech tips and data deep dives. They are my favorite. An actual racer with a turbo car
Agree 10,000 percent. Don't change a thing please
You are a living, walking, talking library of knowledge built up of years of doing stuff. I watch your tech stuff as there is always so much to learn.

Thanks Pete! I like the tech videos! It’s like access behind the curtain with the great and powerful Oz.
The tech stuff is great! Keep them coming. I know I always enjoy learning new stuff.
Had to stop to say, I still love the *I can't wait* intro 👍
Now back to learning some Turbo Stuff 😎
Some of the best content on YT!
Thanks for sharing the knowledge

I live vicariously through these videos as if I had the means to even do one iota of anything

Real stuff! Good doin'!
Currently building a Turbo LS foxbody. This helps a lot, especially having the Holley software.
One thing is building all the power but you have to be able to know how to use it & apply that to the track 👍

Love the tech video. I need you as my machinist
Good solid information , and very much appreciated. More tech please, many thanks.
