the irony is, this video gains more views, since the expulsion of Indonesian members of the House of Representatives, by the Italian Foreigner who rented the island. this unwanted event are now broadcasted on major tv station throughout indonesia.

Intense resort development has caused great ecological damage throughout tropical countries. It looks like Mentawai is next. I see no interest in containing coastal development and preserving the coasts here. The first casualty will be sea turtle populations as they lose their nesting beaches for resorts; then sea birds; then the last of the beach forests. This wouldnt be so bad but in a poor country like Indonesia the emphasis is likely to be commerce not ecotourism. I was hoping to come here. But I may be too late. It looks like these islands are about overrun with profit seeking developers. They need to control coastal development in these islands. It looks like that is not going to happen. Remember whden Bali was hyped as "paradise?" Look at it now.
