Mel Gibson had a gift on film. From here in 1979 with Mad Max through Lethal Weapon movies to his masterpiece Braveheart. He has the talent to play a protagonist that lost everything to seek revenge
The man who lost everything became mad with rage and thirsty for revenge. He lost his wife and child to gang members. Once they were gone, he became Mad Max. A man with only two instincts: Survive and Vengeance.
He is the anti christos. And the biker gang is the Abrahamics. Because the Bible says the Beast will have power over the saints and destroy them. And Mad Max should be coming any minute. That is why all governments are being demonized and will be taken down.
The first move was about Max losing his humanity. The Road Warrior was about him regaining it. That could have been the entire Max Rockantansy saga. Beyond the Thunderdome was basically a loose re-telling of Road Warrior, and Fury Road has very little to do with the prior films at all.
Same, as Max is running down the road towards his wife and kid, the music, just hits a lot harder now that I'm older, and as a father myself. This movie left a lasting impression, the gritty realism is what really stuck with me even watching it as a youngster.

To understand who he was we have to go back to the other time, when the world was powered by the black fuel and the desert sprouted great cities of pipe and steel - gone now, swept away. For reasons long forgotten two mighty warrior tribes went to war and touched off a blaze which engulfed them all. Without fuel they were nothing. They'd built a house of straw. The thundering machines sputtered and stopped. Their leaders talked and talked and talked, but nothing could stem the avalanche. Their world crumbled. Cities exploded - a whirlwind of looting, a firestorm of fear. Men began to feed on men. On the roads it was a white-line nightmare. Only those mobile enough to scavenge, brutal enough to pillage would survive. The gangs took over the highways, ready to wage war for a tank of juice, and in this maelstrom of decay ordinary men were battered and smashed - men like Max, the warrior Max.
