A few more interesting things about the VIC-20: You can change the number of rows and columns displayed; there an 8x16 character cell mode, which is handy for a full-screen bitmap, since you can put a unique character in each cell; and there is also an interlaced mode.
Nice video. My first VIC was one of the original models from 1981. It had the metal badge and the 2 prong AC input. The ones in your video came out after the C64 was on the market and are the so-called Cost Reduced versions. I wonder what the case was like on the original models? I like facts, so keep up the good work.
3:50 PAL and NTSC VIC-20s have different default values in there. This is the reason why many cartridges come up with wrong offsets and have to be adjusted, usually using cursor keys (Pinball Spectacular: only in pinball attract mode, you have to wait until the barely readable instructions have scrolled past). This is also a reason (maybe the only one?) why NTSC and PAL VIC-20s have different KERNAL ROMs.
That german swear word is "vick" and translates directly to "fuck." That means you can't buy Fuck's Cough Drops or Fuck's Vapo Rub in Germany. Oddly enough you can buy dildos from vending machines.
The word is actually written as "ficken" in German, but if you say VC-20 in English which is "vick twenty" it translates to "fick twenty" in German. And that's the reason, why they substituted it to a more family friendly name by just calling it "Volks Computer" comparable to Volkswagen or Volksradio.
Love that POKE for moving the screen around... thanks for that! 😊

First computer I ever used. I used to help my dad program the games in. 😂 Had no idea then, what computers would be capable of today!
