Get someone to help you by standing beside you in the water. They can pull your paddle into place, tap your boat and help you get used to what it feels like when you're in the right position to hip flick.

Is the Jed hard to roll for intermediate beginners who have their roll pretty solid?
did you learn the roll in a sea kayak? I think playboats in general are not very hard to roll, but because they are so short it might take a few tries getting used to. thats because a sea kayak only turns in one way, while a playboat moves around more during a roll. the Jed is a really good playboat and rolls fine!
