The game actually has way more players daily, it’s just the steam player count that has way lower numbers because the game got removed on steam. In fact, it had 13 million players last week.

You made a slight mistake though, the game has actually remained very popular ever since it launched, it's stayed in the top 10 multiplayer games, and the Steam charts you showed are irrelevant because the game hasn't been available on Steam since Epic Games bought it in 2021. The only Steam players will be those that never switched to the Epic launcher, the game actually gets around 17 million monthly players. The show you guys were playing was also a temporary one, you can still play regular Solo show if you want to keep the 2020 vibes :)

My theory. Fall guys died because another game, called Stumble Guys (I’m sure you guys know it), completely took the game idea and made it accessible on mobile, which is way more compatible for people to play. You just have to get your phone out and play it. But this is just a theory. A fall guys theory.
Fall guys is accessible in all platforms (except mobile), while stumble guys isn't.

I stuck with fall guys for a lot longer than everyone else did, the game was doing okay, then epic took over and really brought the game back to life. But I feel like the core gameplay of fall guys is just not meant to be free. It put more pressure on making better maps, but all the maps were starting to feel the same and stale, but then creative came out, was cool for a bit. Now there are barely any unity (non creative) levels that you can play and I feel it really is dead now.

The worst thing about fall guys is the decreased player counts in lobbies. From 60 to 40 to 32, it doesn't even feel like you've earned it when you win

I recently played this again since maybe 2022 (when the game had become free, even though I started in 2020) because the game released on mobile and I freaked out when I saw that a lobby fills up to a maximum of 32 players. ONLY 32 PLAYERS??? IT USED TO BE THE DOUBLE 😭 it doesn't hit the same, the fun part of fall guys was right the huge number of players and it is basically removed??

I think one of the main reasons it died is because it was originally really exclusive when it came out, and wasn’t very accessible to a vast majority of people. If it had originally launched on Switch, PlayStation, XBox, and PC, I think it would likely still be here, not as big as it originally was, but definitely way bigger than it is now.
