Words can never begin to express how grateful I am to have found you. What a sweet soul. because of you, I feel like maybe I can do this....I'm 52 and all I want is to create something beautiful from within. Thank-you
Thankyou so much for your instructions. Absolutely what a beginner like me needed. I love your look. I love the way you present your tutorials. Low stress style. I love the way you talk - not too fast and not too slow . And i love that you want to help people like me. I love your paintings and i love your colourfullness. I am 70 and have just started the paint journey. I am obsessed and you are such an inspiration. Thankyou again. Take care. 💗
My Girl Scout troop watched this before our first virtual paint-along. It helped boost the novices' confidence, while "reminding" veteran painters of important techniques. It made our paint-along a total success! Now they want to paint more! Thank you!
Please know hobby lobby carries a brand called masters touch, they have heavy body acrylic, 9.99 for a tube. That said, they REGULARLY put them all on sale for 50% off. Its a very good quality. Its saved us money and given us enough decent quality
This is fantastic Cinnamon!! I wish I had this when I started painting. Would have saved a lot of confusion in the beginning. Even after painting a few years, it's good to come back and be reminded of the basics. Thank you
Cinnamon, I can't Thank You enough for the valuable lessons you teach. You are an amazing teacher and I have enjoyed learning from you. God Bless you and John.
Wow. Very helpful and done in a manner that isn't wordy or techy speak all the way through. Glad I saw this. Will be practicing and playing with the paint I have to see what happens.
I learned so much!. I did an acrylic painting because it looked fun, but I knew NOTHING. I have seen some of your other videos. Loved them all. Thank you!!
For all the beginners out there I want to let you in on a little secret: Even the professionals sometimes need to go back to basics! It can be reinforcement for intermediates or reminders for professionals, but I have found that starting back from the absolute beginning will keep you from falling into bad habits, helping with composition or color problems, recognizing mistakes, and even helping with ruts or artistic stumbling blocks like not being able to think of ideas to figuring out why you are suddenly back to "making mud"(yes that still happens from time to time, especially when you get new paints or upgrade your paint quality, so don't sweat it! I once made accidental mud when I grabbed the wrong shade of blue because I was in a hurry to get started and grabbed a tube of pthalo blue red shade instead of pthalo blue green shade. I learned not to rush that day because I ended up wasting paint and messing up my composition) Regardless of style or personal skill level, please don't ignore your basics! They are the foundation that will elevate your hobby/profession(your decision which it is BTW, not others, own it. If it's just a hobby, enjoy that hobby. If you want to make it a career, do it! And, good for you, whichever you decide!) as high and as far as you want it to go! As for any more advanced artists who clicked on this video, Good for you for remembering how important the basics are!
i just did my first acrylic painting with you i painted jack skellington i loved it...i tried another youtuber but she doesnt explain it like you do...she even traces the drawing...you are the best thank you
Thank you for this video! I have been painting about a year. I jumped right in with many of your 1 hoots and have worked my way up. Still words here I learned and having the basics slowed down was super helpful!
Thank you this was very very helpful. I am not coming over from oil painting.....I have NEVER put brush to paint to canvas so I am truly an actual authentic for real beginner. i will be watching quite a bit more before I start but can't wait. I have supplies....you'd probably be appalled at how cheap but am on a budget and it would be bad if it didn't turn to be something I could manage. Tfs
Budget supplies are real art supplies. You may need to do some adjustments like if you are painting a light yellow over dark greens you may need to paint the area white first here at 49:00 on the video I show how I mean ruclips.net/video/EvLJva71jps/видео.html
Thank you so much from a new subscriber. I am very new to art and find I get very 😞 disappointed when it does not turn out well.I realise Rome was not built in a day so I guess I just need to keep chipping away as they say.Greetings from Moira in Australia.
This was so helpful! Thank you! I've made 2 paintings so far following a tutorial, and I could NOT blend the colors together for the life of me. I see now that my brush was too dry and I was not being liberal with the paint.
Your videos have helped a lot. Do you have one on how to double load a brush? I’ve been painting for 10 years and never mastered this. The brush always runs out of paint in the middle of brush. The corners are loaded fine but when painting, the center of brush goes dry first. I’ve tried adding water, floating medium and even a stay wet pallet, but it still dries out in the middle.I would appreciate any help. Thank you
Thank you ... can you tell me what is wrong when I try to make something like a tree. I ran out of paint on it and I don’t know if I should be adding more water or if I have to much. However, when I am painting some thing I cannot cover the canvas with just the colors given I always have to go back for more.
Dear theartsherpa these videos and especially this one have been invaluable to me. I only just started painting 5 months ago, Complete newbie! I've been saying for over 2o years that one day I am going to teach myself to paint. But I was always to busy to ever sit down and actually do so... until Quarantine, thank you quarantine. ;) My creativity has always been found in the kitchen- cooking and baking, or in construction with a hot glue gun. After gaining the quarantine 20 I said enough and picked up my Children's old paint sets and found you. Sorry for the blathering I have a really good question, which is; The Grey/Gray Scale on the color wheel could you explain how to use that? I've watched your other color wheel video's and am pretty sure I've had my A-HaH moment ( time will tell lol ) But I haven't been able to find anything on how to use the Grey Scale on it, it doesn't even tell me.
So I will do a special video on how to take the greyscale and relate it to color but basically Color has a light and dark value as related to the greyscale. Bu understanding value beyond the hue you can paint in nearly any colors and still get a great painting because the values will work
