@@CommKommando my man, jake literally gave ray a run for his money for the rest of the 5 fights and all of it was close,he also won the fifth fight and could broke ray's streak but robbed, the gth fight, although an exception,is a testament to his strength, heart and pride,it took ray 6 fights to tko a jake,6 fights.
I thing theres no boxer with this agresivity today. Probably Muhamed Ali would have a hard time fighting with him, he was a killer....he destroyed, he punished !!!!
Sugar Ray Robinson was ten times as fast, just as powerful, with perfect timing, footwork, he was half as tough as La motta, but the Raging Bull never went down!
Wow this guy would have destroyed all the fighters in this era. And also the fact that sugar ray robinson was was able to beat jake la motta 5 times just proves how good robinson was.
I think the defense in boxing today developed that is why the matches are not that electrifying. But as far as I know, the legends of boxing really fight and brawls which brings excitement to the fans. Example: hagler, hearns, duran, frazier, lamotta, pacquiao, etc. If you watch the fights of some legends, you'll find some legendary brawl fights. Like hagler vs hearns, their 1st round is unbelievable 😂😂.
Boxing isn't all about slugfests and crowd-pleasing stuff, the defensive work is what makes it fascinating as well. If you don't find it that way, then shut the fook up.
I'm sorry for being so impatient earlier. It's just that I've been reading his autobiography, and he's my number 2 (if not number 1) favourite fighter of all time. A real bastard outside the ring, but a tough, ferocious and tenacious "bull" in the ring, no question about it. You couldn't find a more fitting nickname for him than "The Raging Bull" anywhere. A shame they only have a few of his fight clips, and only about half of the Sugar Ray Robinson vs Jake LaMotta trilogy. Thank you so much for the video!
haNZAgod The Billy Fox fight, the Marcel Cerdan fight and the rest of the Sugar Ray Robinson fights would be good. LaMotta knocked Sugar Ray down at least once in every fight except for the fourth one. Many say the fifth one was a robbery, and that Jake won the fight.
I believe all of them were points decisions except for the 6th and final one, where the referee stopped the fight. The fight was dubbed "The Saint Valentine's day massacre" as by the end of the fight it became a one-sided beatdown. The fight is on youtube if you want to see it. It's probably the only Robinson-LaMotta fight (in it's entirety, I think there are some clips of the other fights) that you can find on the internet.
Legend. Saddens me he was such a bad human. The story about him thinking and living with the guilt that he killed a guy for years only to have him come up to him at a party and tell him he didnt die, doesnt know who tried to kill him, moved away and is a fan is some next level movie shit.
Very educated left hand. Looks like a converted southpaw. Lacked devastating power but sometimes being a great catcher is more important than being a great pitcher. He could not be hurt and was a relentless aggressor who threw punches in bunches. Very tough guy to beat. And let's not forget, Jake fought everyone and beat Ray Robinson when both were in the prime of life. Great Champ.
Was it because he was Italian? Or because of him being from the bronx? Or how about this. He worked hard in the gym. His race has shit to do with it Bozo.
I have italian family, but i dont give a damn about race, i dont care from what race is the best boxer. I only want more profesionalims in this time, russians, black, irish or japaneses. Race go and return, real boxers never
+haNZAgod Jake was a converted southpaw, fought southpaw in the amateurs. That's why he has all of his power in his left hook, like other converted southpaws Frazier, ODLH, Cotto etc.
How people can say he has no skill makes no sense to me Look at how offensively skilled he is, quality combinations, variety in his shot selection, and hand-speed that he isn't given credit for
Fighters back then were so much more brutal and tough than any fighter is today. They went until one was knocked out,and the one left standing was the winner. Now its points, etc that make the winner, blows etc.Plus,if there is blood, they decide whether to stop the fight or now.A black eye could end a fight.Fucking wimps. (awe,it was over too soon!)
Hey Hanza, in your opinion, who's the best pressure fighter of all time? Based on stuff like head movement, cutting off the ring, stamina, and other criteria.
+haNZgod Chavez was great at cutting off the ring, how did armstrong negate fighter`s movement? Could LaMotta cut the ring off? Jake seemed to drag his backfoot against SRR, Frazier used this in 2nd fight with Ali, what does it do?
@@hanzagod , I want to believe that but Ray Lenard was like a miniature Ali and he had belts in many weight classes but Lamata was a scrapper and could have taken Ray's punches then finished Ray.
Different weight classes but heavy weight 2 ton tony G would have put Jake down in under 5 rounds. About the same height and same reach but Tony was about the size of two jakes in one. A real barrel of a build. Just sayin’.
A good Heavyweight should beat a great Middleweight it's not a fair comparison. With that being said I don't class Galento as much, a tough brawler with good punching power but that's about it.
