The point of these demonstrations is that the attackers are also aikido practitioners, and therefore would rather not dislocate their shoulder, and know how to roll out of things that are designed to break or dislocate. The only part that is kind of lame is where he just tosses them away and they roll off, but that is something that happens in aikido practice just as a matter of diverting, but it looks way less real because frankly its easier to roll past than to get shoved away and regain your balance.
I didnt see anything where it looked like they just offered up their hand to be twisted, everything here looked along the lines of "he has something in his hand that I want to take" or theyre trying to get a hold on a wrist for whatever reason. Not every attacker is going to intend to come up and stab you in the chest.

@@jesseolson3142 if 5 guys are attacking, youre not gonna take them on all at once. You're going to engage as you see or create opportunity, and youre not going to let 5 get on you equally at the same time. Aikido is about creating and controlling space, and theres delibrate things that are done to allow such. But yeah, aikido probably isnt going to do anything for you if you get dogpiled.

Even if choreography is what most of these presentations are intended to promote martial arts as a sport and to attract many people. Nevertheless, it takes an engine to complete the choreography correctly, of course, without ending the protagonists' injuries. What we've seen is a lot of twisted arms and wrists, a lot of falls, which is no matter what you think of Segal, whether he is a master of Ajkada or not, a great correction of training and mental concentration. In the end, all martial arts are very dangerous for anyone who deals with it in any way, amateur, amateur or professional, such as MMA. Of course, if all the choreography was different, in real fights most of them would end up in hospital with injuries and fractures and unfaithful as professionals often do.

It's mostly for demonstration as these 2 are used to the routine. However some of the moves aren't that far fetched. The simple toss and flip isn't realistic imo. but most of the others can be done. If you control the neck/head the opponent loses all sense of balance and can easily be thrown around. In real wrestling gaining control of the head/hands is usually the first step. For the wrist stuff, you may not flip them but you have more control than you think. Most people will give up in fear of breaking them. It doesn't take much to injure a wrist and it can take a long time to heal

People who fight in anger are idiots and they do throw themselves at you. Someone who throws a normal punch at Steven will have it slapped back and he will use sticky hands to keep his hands hovering over yours so you can’t build momentum and while you try he will slap you in your face. If you commit to a blow and he grabs you and you don’t flip you pull back and resist instead then he will rip your limb out of it’s socket. How do I know? Because I took ninjutsu and they taught me the same shit. Aikido was only used on a battlefield by samurai wearing 60 pounds of armer combating someone with a sword. Of course you could throw someone like this, you would throw them and keep your hand on the hilt of their sword and you would strip it from them and cut their head off then stab it in to their chest and pin them to the earth with it. You can’t spend your entire life training in Samurai shit and not walk out a bad motherfucker.

With broken limbs from not understanding how to take his throws. That’s why he’s pointing ahead of time what he’s going to do and where they should go, otherwise your arm is gonna get snapped off from the redirected force of his body

Anyone ever seen him in a real fight? I would like to see that. Shamrock would be a good match up after Shamrock got in shape.
