I think Serato plays back all samples quieter in general, regardless of the stem splitting; I always find myself adding gain before I mix. That might just be my experience, though.
Also, StemRoller did the best job in my opinion.
Since I've been looking for some good free stem-splitting software, I just downloaded it. Looking forward to trying it out!

thats a cool comparison, add a little gate and those bongos would be nothing in between the vocals. i own serator but im going to check out that stemroller, i have also seen a couple produers use RX

It's between lala.la & Koala. & I'm a Serato nut. It got super quiet tho!
I think the stem separation works better in Serato Studio than Sample... might just be me.
All that said... I've been deep diving into Koala the last few months & I'm absolutely hooked.

RipX and StemRoller sounded best to me. You still hear the bongos but they maintained the overall volume and quality.

idk, I feel like with records like this, you can just use the old method because the mix is low quality. I think stem separation is better with newer songs where EQ and filtering doesn't work as well .

They all are only meh. These things work better when the stereo field has more info. Old school records with lcr panning will produce better results every time. Removing frequencies from a track will remove those frequencies from all of the elements.
Volume will always dip because audio information is being removed.

Just tried stemroller on an old track from 1976 and everything mutes but the drums just won't mute 🤬🤬 I'll give it another shot 👍

Tbf, no one wud just take the vocals and use them, once u add all ur fx, drums, melodies bass etc, ur not going to notice anyway.
