  • Missed Expert Venous Management last summer? Watch Dr. Dan Clair's EVM 2017 presentation on an SVC syndrome patient who has complex dialysis access.
Dan Clair is the Chair of Surgery at Palmetto Health USC Medical Group in Columbia, South Carolina. Here he is speaking at the Expert Venous Management (EVM) meeting in Englewood, NJ (June 2017) about treatment for superior vena cava (SVC) syndrome in a woman who had complex dialysis access. In this session he spoke extensively about scar within the veins, and how to deal with recanalization of the SVC. There was a lot of discussion from the audience to figure out how to manage patients with this over the long-run. That may include surgical reconstruction, stenting, and perhaps even a HeRO catheter to deal with her dialysis access issues over the long-run. The discussion showed the difficulties in getting through an SVC with occlusion and how one needs to image with intravascular ultrasound at times.
