Overkill appears on Motörhead’s album ‘Overkill’. Originally released on Bronze Records on 24th March 1979, produced by Jimmy Miller. The line up on this album was Lemmy, Fast Eddie Clarke and Philthy Animal Taylor.
Only way to feel the noise is when it's good and loud
So good I can't believe it, screaming with the crowd
Don't sweat it, we'll get it back to you
Don't sweat it, we'll get it back to you
Overkill, overkill, overkill
On your feet you feel the beat, it goes straight to your spine
Shake your head you must be dead if it don't make you fly
Don't sweat it, we'll get it back to you
Don't sweat it, we'll get it back to you
Overkill, overkill, overkill
Know your body's made to move, ya feel it in your guts
Rock 'n' roll ain't worth the name if it don't make ya strut
Don't sweat it, we'll get it back to you
Don't sweat it, we'll get it back to you
Overkill, overkill, overkill

Lemmy is the only dude who can be a viking, a cowboy, a biker, a pirate, a bassist, a guitarist, and singer at the same time
Also bastard, but would share his chips with you and beat you at pinball, and quote P.G. Wodehouse while doing it. A legend in his own lunchtime!
Rest in peace Eddie, Lemmy and Phil.
And nobody would question it.....Lemmy was a one of a kind 🤘🤘
Your god damn right
Lem is god xD
I'm glad my dad introduced me to motorhead before he died, I'm now 13 and still listening to the band, my dad would be proud.
Sorry for your loss bro, stay strong
And remember, they play rock and roll. Not heavy metal.
AlexZander I mean metal is rock and roll, and Motörhead was the pioneers of speed metal
Keep your head up soldier, grab the Sword of Glory!
sorry for your loss, keep rocking on "🖤💋✌❤☠
The fact Motorhead isn't in the rock and roll hall of fame yet is borderline criminal
Someday, bro. Someday.
Hall of fame's a joke Phuck em
RRHOF doesn't mean shit, bands like Jethro Tull aren't in there either even though both Tull and Motörhead contributed massively to their respective rock genres
It's all political bs, dw.
I doubt Lemmy would want it. Or the guys
My 4-year-old heard this, and told me, "I like this song." Now, we listen to it every drive home from school. It's our ritual, and I'm such a proud mama.
Good parenting. raising em right.
You are such a great mother
lovely child end lovely mom too
Great kid and great taste in music
Lemmy saves children
3 instruments and just an amazing wall of sound. RIP Lemmy
They're all dead unfortunately. RIP Fast Eddie and Philthy Phil.
They opened for Ozzy at ThevAragon ballroom in 81. Only an incredible performance by Ozzy prevented them from getting blown away by MH. What a great concert. Loud doesn't come close to describing it.
@@fiscer247 They were Motorhead. Everything else was extra.
The sound is timeless and stil amazing
Why only 3? The fourth and main instrument is Lemmy's voice
*Overkill.* The song so good they had to make 3 endings for it.
And a band took this name as well...."Years of Decay"
❤
the quintessential rock song that is exactly as its title. overkill the crap out of the ending
They were gonna do 4 endings but they didn't want to ... ahem... OVERKILL it. Sorry not sorry.
Truly an overkill
It's 2024, and still rocking to Lemmy and Motorhead! Who's with me?
Me!!
Me for sure!
Me me me and im 60 fucking one now
Right here, driving home to see my daughter karma who is a huge Motorhead fan as well.

Lemmy was the realest guy in the music industry. When everyone started flying private jets and overcharging for tickets, Lemmy stayed the same. Same apartment, same bar, same music. It was never about the money. The guy even told his fans not to buy the record company’s Motorhead box set because of the inflated price. RIP Lemmy.
For real - saw them 40th anniversary tour at Ipswich regent. You wouldn't expect them to be playing there considering it's Motorhead.. Tiny little intimate theatre. It was fuckin great
@@BobGnarley. you’re a lucky man. I bet that was a kickass show
@@yourmomshouse6984 Fuck yea man, my old man took me - I only knew Motorhead from Tony Hawk games lol. Can still remember this was first time I heard Overkill and they fuckin blasted it out live! had tinnitus for weeks
First time I ever saw them, I managed to get run over on my way home. Fink Lem would be proud !
@@BobGnarley. The only way to see Motorhead. I got to see them in a small dive - fuckin outrageous!
No fancy production, no autotune, no fucking human degradation. Only talent.
🙏🙏🙏🙏👊👊👊👊
The classic Motorhead line-up. The sweat, the grease, the attitude and Phil Taylor on drums.
Would've killed to see this lineup live
Love Philthy
lucky enough to have got 72 gigs in but what I would give have seen this line up..philthy double bass drum Taylor legend👍
Philthy Phil
@@tinyky2598They warmed up for Blizzard of Ozz in 1980 at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago . What a night ! They left everything they had on stage . Sucked when their set ended but Ozzy came out with Randy Rhoads , Rudy Sarzo & Tommy Aldridge & made everything seem better . God I miss the 80s .
It's official. Lemmy is by far the coolest man to have ever walked this Earth.
Always been official.
I could not agree more.
I’m really not a big fan of a world where he is no longer around.
You are 100 percent correct

Took you this long to realize
I met Lemmy a couple of times.
Really good bloke, very interesting and intelligent gentleman.
He knew his military history as well.
He kept it real.

Philty Animal Taylor with his violent drums, Fast Eddie Clarke with his mighty Fender and Lemmy with his scratchy vocals and sinister bass! Simply lethal Rock N Roll 🔥
Animalllllll for ever🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
The best line up they ever had. All gods of their trade.
Animal was an absolute BEAST.
let's also not forget what year this was either. thrash metal years later would not have been even close to the same without it.

Motörhead lives on...!!!
Today Lemmy would have been celebrating his 75th birthday. Five years after his death he´s still missing.
he's alive in our hearts, he is a metal god
What are you talking about? Lemmy and his band are immortal.
Missed. Not missing.
We only truly die when someone speaks our name for the final time.
In that sense, Lemmy is fucking immortal.
Feels like 5 minutes ago.
My God Motorhead NEVER gets old. What a talent Lemmy and every member he had in that band. Thank God this music exists. I got to see Motorhead twice and let me tell you, they were magical.
Were your ears ringing both times?

Brilliant drumming from Phil, always love it when he starts the double bass drums again 3 times, that's OVERKILL.

Motörhead is not just the band-it’s a lifestyle.
Heaviest song of 1970s by far way ahead of its time
Into the Void, Under the Sun and Dissident Aggressor too.
Heaviest no, it's Heavy but tnot the Heaviest... Jerusalem (1971) was Heavier
@@KevinQ1989 Symptom of the Universe, too.
@@KevinQ1989I also thought of Into The Void, such a heavy song.
I think it's safe to say that this is most Motorhead fan's idea of what heaven would be like, a small smokey club set in the mid 80's with motorhead on stage at full volume, along with Tommy Vance propping up the bar telling monsters of rock story's
Lol
You’re not wrong lol
RC NINJA weneedthis
Take my soul for this!!! And give me a cold beer
Yep
Lemmy was probably the coolest guy in rock! this dude even with all of his millions lived in a small two bedroom apartment, didn't spend his money on fancy cars and clothes or nice restaurants. He went to the same bar every day, popped large amounts of LSD and drunk Jack Daniels right up until his death! He stayed true to himself right until the very end.... legend! 🤘
LSD? Speed was Lemmy’s drug of choice my friend
Even Lemmy said himself, he made more money from writing mama in coming home for ozzy, than everything he did to that point combined. He has more of a following in the last 15 years than the first 15.....Seems like a regular guy because he is Just a regular guy.
@@DennisCarney1976 its funny because he quit his first band hawkwing because they were all on acid, while he was speeding along. He personally put his giant black boot on the throat of the hippie movement, and didn't let up.
He even played shows while in the late stages of cancer, while other "artists" around that time cried they didn't feel good, and cancelled shows right before they were supposed to be on stage. Lemmy was the real rockstar while others pretend.
Him and Bon Scott on a night out. What a combo that would be.
I don't listen to Motörhead very often but when I do, so do the neighbors.

Lemmy is metal royalty but dont forget about Fast Eddie. Highly underrated guitar player song writer.
3 peaks in a metal song with 3 different solos...pure joy
Just when you think it's all over, it starts again - twice. It's like a multiple orgasm. Back in 1979, this was the heaviest, hardest, fastest rock music anyone had ever played. Motorhead were true pioneers.

I miss my hearing.
I am 63 years old. I got deeply into SABBATH when I got Master of reality 71. I knew all about Motorhead. I had seen SABBATH live before 1983 when I saw them again in Dalymont park Dublin. The co headliners were Motorhead. Motorhead second to last. I came away from this experience knowing that I had seen and heard the two greatest heavy rock/ metal bands of all time. Nothing has changed my opinion since
I saw them in Dunshaughlin Co Meath, Ireland in 1981. They wouldn't let them play in Dublin because they were too loud! I was deaf for a week afterwards. Brilliant!
Just imagine hearing that constant double bass in 79, I would have lost my mind.
Oh you didn't?
Sometime in the late 70’s I was watching tv on a Saturday night and there was a show on featuring various bands (pre-MTV). Being the 70’s, most of the music was radio fare, but then Motörhead came on with a recording of them playing Ace of Spades. I just sat there with my mouth open, thinking “what the hell was THAT!” I knew I had seen something special, and I’ve been a fan ever since, and I’m 55 now! Saw them several times but never got to meet the man. RIP.

Lemmy himself said many times there were more of a blues band.
This song came about from Phil letting off some steam while the rest of the band were taking a break... they were just coming back into the studio and Phil was doing this double base drum footwork & Lemmy & Clarky said don’t stop keep the beat going... & not long after another Smash hit from Motörhead had been written... By this point Motorhead could do no wrong! I'll never tire from these tunes!
This was the second Motorhead album, release spring 1979 and 18 months after their first, which sunk without a trace. They were just gaining a bit of momentum at this point, which would finally come to fruition later the same year with Bomber, and then the finished article a year later with Ace of Spades. After that it was pretty much downhill as far the albums were concerned. Always a great live band, though.
