Yes, I hope it does more growing then flowering, I may have to pinch the flowers off until it gets it's shape developed. It's hard to do, the flowers are so nice!
Oooh, that's a nice flower too! You did a great job! This hibiscus it's very similar with "Hibiscus syriacus",but this is a deciduous shrub, however still very good for bonsai and its white and pink flowers.🙃💡♥️
Seeing the progress the tree in one video is a great way, I like your latest videos even more.. I even started a hibiscus bonsai project for my collection, but it's a red one but definitely getting other colors too 😍
The yellow hibiscus has a nice flower with the red throat. You will have to take cuttings to preserve the heritage of this flower so that you can get a nice little forest from them. The parent plant is your specimen plant. A real great looking bonsai.
Good morning, thanks for the rich video library . very much informative for us bonsai beginners. I was looking for an update on the silk floss cuttings and stump (7 months ago) since I bought one of 1 meter long and 8 cm diameter at the trunk and I am afraid to cut it short and loose it since it is hard to find it where I am specially with all this lockdowns sh...., by the way I copy some of your work with the same kind every time I watch a new video. I hope you don't mind.
I bought a hibiscus on clearance for four dollars I would like to try and turn it into a bonsai how long should I leave it in the nursery pot and when should I prune it
I like to get the roots on track as soon as possible, a Hibiscus can be repotted in the summer! I'd repot, do the root pruning and some top pruning together, hopefully the tree will recover and do well by fall!!
@@TheBonsaiZone thanks would like see one. I’ve got one purely by accident. Neighbor tossed one at end of summer I kept it alive and it grew great. Now it dropped its leaves and it looks like a miniature tree. The trunk developed really well. Like I said purely by accident but I’ll take it. Afraid to trim it and make mistakes.
That lowest branch (you cut) could be wired with the main trunk and after some time they could become one, main trunk. Just my thoughts... Anyway: nice pruning!
Hi Nigel! Glad to see you work on hibiscus. I have one that I "rescued" from my own yard last year. It was a pair of shrubs sitting in a pot and constantly raided by squirrels that chewed off all shoots, and the plants were were sickly. In my attempt to separate and report them, I killed one, and the other hung in by a thread for a while before reviving. I now have it in a plastic container (here is a picture photos.app.goo.gl/LJdkknYkYCiGEKfz7 ), and am happy it's looking healthy again. I know I need to prune the long thick side trunks/branches down - but I am a bit scared of killing it. I think I'll do it in the spring. One down side of getting the tree healthy again is that the leaves have become much bigger! Also, I can never get the cuttings to root. Any tips?
Absolutely not Sir, being a flowering plant, you need to look at this one in that context, and not in the context of Pine, Juniper or Banyan or any other similar large tree... Why you all Bonsai specialists look at every plant with same logic. Hibiscus plant 🌺 is different from Pine, Juniper, etc ... its a flowering plant, prune in such a way, that it gives more flowers 💐 ... Thankyou.
You’re spoiling us with these daily uploads.
Who knew one could make bonsai out of a hibiscus! 😊
Enjoying my first day off watching a Bonsai Zone Video at the dining table - Thank you Nigel!!!
That was a stunning close-up of the flower in this episode. Nice! I love the major chops in the end.
I would argue the chew marks are from the 3 rabbits in the pot, you can see them eyeing that section of the tree!
They are the right size!
Jajaja😂 In my garden it will be rabbits
always comforting to see the pros making major chops like this :)
I hope the tree recovers well! I always worry!
It seems like every time you move the spider it comes back to the tree you’re pruning
The setting of the flowering season with the pruning of your yellow hibiscus. Looking forward to the blooms next summer!
Yes, I hope it does more growing then flowering, I may have to pinch the flowers off until it gets it's shape developed. It's hard to do, the flowers are so nice!
Well explained, on how to work on a bonsai
Colour of the flowers are just awesome 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for such a lovely video!!
Nigel Sir,that was such a pruning that the tree now looks like a cutting. But yes,I know that it’ll help to build a good structure for the future👍
Oooh, that's a nice flower too! You did a great job! This hibiscus it's very similar with "Hibiscus syriacus",but this is a deciduous shrub, however still very good for bonsai and its white and pink flowers.🙃💡♥️
Pretty, cheerful yellow color.
Would love to see an update on your Christmas cactus. =)

Nice, they are beautiful in any colour!

Yes, it's a beautiful flower, I'll try cuttings in the summer.
I learnt a lot in this video, thanks Nigel!
Thanks Katy, I hope the tree gets a lot of new branches all over!
@@TheBonsaiZone fingers crossed! Merry Christmas to you and your family! 🎄
your hibiscus is very healthy . Nigel
This type of pruning will pay off in the long run.
Yes, I hope so Tom!

that flower was beautiful it was sad to see it go, it was for a good cause though!
My hibiscus bonsai doesn't seem to want to grow many leaves
That hibiscus cultivar is called 'Sunny Wind'
Thanks Alex!! Good to know!
You can pollinate your hibiscus yourself. Make a hybrid between you two plants to get a mix of the two.
Paano mag bonsai ng gumamela...
Binili nya halaman noong December 2019. taga Toronto Canada sya.
Gagayahin ko ito pag may time ako
Do you use any kind of cut paste to seal the larger cut sights? If so, what do you use? THANKS!
Wow very nice
OMG. That takes guts. :)
It's a drastic reduction, but I think it will bounce back even better!
Does anyone know if there has there been an update on this tree?
Hey Nigel, hello from New Zealand!
Did Nigel camer have benefical work path?hehe
👌👌👌...!!!
lovely
I hope it comes back with a vengeance!
@@TheBonsaiZone I'm confident it will. Your plants always look great

@@TheBonsaiZone Thank You so much have a great day can't wait for another great ficus Friday video how are the kittys
You could have used the lowest branch you cut to create taper along the way with it and then cut it
What soil mix is that?
hope
Have you ever done any lantana bonsai
I have, Hong in our club has a really nice one! My cutting didn't make it over winter one year.

Why the small 7 above the end of the logo but sometimes it’s a six?
Channel years
That indicates the season number, soon I'll be starting season 8 of The Bonsai Zone!
@@TheBonsaiZone ah that makes sense. Shortly after I posted this I saw one with a 5 and considered that might be the case.
@@TheBonsaiZone looking forward to season 8! Was wondering if you have a honeysuckle or lilac to make a video on. Those are my 2 most mature bonsai
