I'm so excited to see more people remixing Umineko! This track might be my fav from the entire game, and you took it in such a neat direction! I feel like the original composition is so unsettling because of how aggressive it is, but you channeled that unsettling feeling with softer synths, discord, and distortion. The original feels like being chased by a horror movie monster. This feels like being trapped in a witch's world where you're all alone and everything is just off in a way you can't place. Makes me think of Beatrice's garden. Well done! Without love it cannot be heard.

Yea the Umineko music is great and it can be intimidating to arrange/remix since the atmosphere of the original soundtrack is so integral and you don't want to change it that much. I tried to keep the overall tone similar while doing things in a way that was natural to me, so I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I'm always giddy when I see Umineko covers because the original is usually super long with a lot of changes so it's interesting to see how people will tackle it and you've done an amazing job of covering it :D
Wow, that was a fun journey, with cool sound design the whole way through! I don't know the original, but the unsettling vibe fits really well, both for a villain theme and for the spooky month of October
me before clicking: "hmm I don't remember which theme this was from the game" me after clicking: "oh now I remember" what a heckin' ride and very fitting for the reality shenanigans of the Umineko Witches.
Been listening to this excellent arrangement again after discovering the Umineko OSTs, and I have to say zts has overall my favorite tracks out of all the Umineko composers (and most robust production overall as well) - goldenslaughterer (including your great arrangement of this track), haze, dreamenddischarger, dead angle, Worldend are so good. I also tend to go back to "proud-dust" as well from xaki, I like the overall weirdness/dissonance, rhythms and chord progressions of that track.
Thanks! Yeah the Umineko soundtrack is really strong overall but zts is probably the composer with the most rounded offerings. I agree his production chops are great as well - high quality synth sound design is pretty much necessary to pull off electronic music. But his melody writing is really nice as well. I love apathy by him as well and all the -er tracks are great. I do have to say xaki might be my favorite composer on the soundtrack though. He has more of the prog feel to me, and his stuff like psy-chorus, bore-ral, and rog-limitation I love. rhythm-changer is a particular favorite of mine and I definitely want to cover it sometime if only to figure out what ridiculous poly rhythms he has going on in there.
