That's true for the show. They actually skipped a generation as part of their streamlining of the books to the screenplay for the show. In the books, Aemon's brother Aegon V had several children, and Aerys the Mad King was his grandson.
@@bill.godwin-austen Great call. One of the three requests that George made to Ryan Condal about House of the Dragon was to reinsert Jaehaerys II back into show canon. And since there hasn't been an opportunity to really do that overtly on the show yet, I'm guessing that with Dunk & Egg being a thing, they'll wait until it naturally becomes narratively relevant to do so.
Daemon probably didn't really say "the heir for a day", Otto staged this to drive a rift between him and his brother. He didn't deny it when asked by Viserys because he knew it would only make him angrier.
He was *really* upset at the funeral. Why would he look so sad, and then go on to praise himself and belittle this loss? That's not Daemon pretending; with Rhaenyra, he never pretends. Because she's the only one he feels he can truly be himself with. I think he did make a drunken speech about how torn up he was about the loss, of not just the baby but Aemma, too--and one of Otto's spies heard it and words were shifted mjust enough to spin the actual fact into treason.
The Baratheons and Lannisters presumably removed all the Targaryen regalia from the throne room and Red Keep, including all those swords, the mythological carvings on the columns (and each king is carved into the top of the column after his death), the dragon skulls, the shrine to Balerion the Black Dread (King Viserys was its last rider) and the in GOT it was relegated to the basement. Also, we are about 10 kings away from the Mad King. Also, the idea that Aegon foresaw the Long Winter was a long-held theory now confirmed by GRRM since he was actively involved in this show.
" the baratheons and lannisters presumably removed all the Targaryen regalia from the throne" or this show is simply trying to be more accurate to the source material and you shouldn't be trying to connect it to the original show.
@@thatoneblackdude3333 the answer is simple. As massive of a show as GOT was, for the first season, the budget was a lot smaller than in later seasons. This is why when King Robert arrived at Winterfell, with his massive retinue, it looked more like a few dozens of people, and this is why no major set piece battle scenes were depicted. The irony of Suzie saying "I can't imagine a dragon being tame" while talking about Syrax lol. Short context on Syrax the dragons personality. Below. Some Dragons facts as well (no spoilers just dragon context) Syrax is a she-dragon and happens to be titled " The Spoiled Princess" as she loves to be taken care of and fed by the dragon keepers and hates hunting herself. Targaryens during this time receive dragon eggs in the cradle but not all dragon eggs hatch so some have to claim already living dragons.
The in universe explanation for the extra swords being gone by the time events of GoT starts is the fact that after Roberts rebellion, King Robert moved all the dragon skulls along with anything resembling the Targaryen Dynasty down below away in Kings Landing.
and ofcourse the Actual reason is because the show didn't have the budget for this back then. Even Hotd dont have the budget to do that Massive Book accurate Iron Throne lol. The Iron Throne in Book Canon is literally 50 times bigger than this...
Lord Baratheon was actually insulting Viserys, asking for the favour of "the Queen who never was", implying that she should have been Queen instead of him being King. Which checks out because in 'Fire & Blood' from which this story stems the Baratheons supported Rhaenys at the Council. Also I think Daemon's move was not illegal but just seen as very dishonourable

@@MasonOfLife To be fair, he looks very different from Xenophilious! the only reason I figured it out is because I recognized him from Peaky Blinders then remembered the he was also in Harry Potter
My take on Daemon is quite different. He is a complex character, but I don’t see him as a typical villain. When he was eavesdropping on the Small Council he smirked when his brother said he didn’t have the temperament to be king. You two thought that he might be thinking how wrong his brother was. I took it as him acknowledging that his brother knows him. I think he really does want to be the Hand of the King for his brother and he doesn’t trust Otto Hightower at all. At the funeral he was encouraging his niece to be there for her father. And at the brothel later he didn’t look like he was celebrating. He was sitting by himself drinking until he was encouraged to give a speech. We never saw the manner of the speech. So this could have been twisted to some degree by Otto. I’m not saying Daemon is a hero. But be careful with accepting the characterization of him by others without considering their own motives.
Just so you guys know, the book isn’t 100% factual to the game of thrones universe, the show is meant to be the accurate portrayal vs the book. The book is written as a series of accounts from side characters who have biased views!
You can actually predict the gender by the way the mom carries if it’s a boy their abdomen will be higher, plump and round if the abdomen is more of a rectangle shape and hangs lower most likely a female
“Are they at least drugging her with a ton of morphine?” No! That’s bad for the baby! Once she wasn’t the concern anymore she’s just a vessel for the next king.
The king getting cut on the chair there is a saying it suppose to be that if the king sits on the throne and gets cut it isn’t meant for them to be king. Viserys constantly gets cut when he sits on the throne... and no Dameon did not poison his the throne, he actually cares about his brother.
Strap on. You are in for a rollercoaster in this season. You switch between who you like or dislike all the time. BTW, it was not his wife with Daemon in the end. It’s was the girl he was with in the brothel.
I really loved the first season of this show. It felt like old Game of Thrones. like every episode was a weekly event. Had me giddy for that HBO logo and intro music again
The guy you were judging his accent, is Bill Patterson. He is a Native Glaswegian. Both him and the Bald Kingsguard are in Outlander. The big domed building is the Dragon Pit. It is where Jon Snow brought the captured Wight to show Cersei.
When it comes to the throne, the portrayal of I'm this is more accurate to the description of the throne. The throne in GoT is not as menacing with not nearly enough swords
They spelled it out in the beginning of the episode that the birthing bed is the woman’s battlefield. And then they contrasted the birth scene with the violent scenes at the tournament to drive home that message. The baby’s name Baelon is the name of the current King Viserys and Prince Daemon’s father. That Baelon was renowned as a great warrior.
Its easy, just remember Rhaenyra is the protagonist, Viserys (just like Daenerys brother) is the father and the uncle is Daemon. Then you have Alicent and Otto. More characters would show up in the next episodes. Also, the show improves from ep 5 to 10.
So glad to have you back again!!! Keep doing what you do, we love it… You saw the same dragon skull in GoT, Balerion in the dungeons. The swords thing isn’t really known re the Iron Throne when the extra ones got taken away, possibly when Robert got in there?? and the marble things on the small council table defs didn’t survive either and nor should they!!
It is weird how emotional it was watching this first episode. The impact GoT had on us, we were all so emotionally invested, so this felt like coming home.
From grr Martin daemon is the Best Targaryen he wrote. And also the chair cut the king because he make a mistake sending away his brother. He should trust him
The throne is simply smaller in GOT due to budgeting in the earlier seasons. There simply does not need to be perfect continuity between the two shows, or perfect representation every object in either show. Just like the original 007 was a WWII veteran, but is still pretty young today, and is the same man, James Bond, we can suspend our disbelief and just accept it. None of it is real.
There is a nice layer to it. Viserys wants his daughter to inherit... But he is king only because a woman was not allowed to inherit the throne. So it's understandable people think he is being disloyal here.
Ive just finished GOTs now to the house of the dragon!! From a loyal supporter from the north east (clearly the real north in the UK) lv the content keep up the great work.

I love this show.
i wish Suzy, Steejo, everyone that's important to them, to you and to everyone that see my message a great 2024
I've been waiting 10 years for this.... ok several weeks
You can actually predict the gender by the way the mom carries if it’s a boy their abdomen will be higher, plump and round if the abdomen is more of a rectangle shape and hangs lower most likely a female
They say who gets cut by the throne isn’t deemed to deserve it
“Are they at least drugging her with a ton of morphine?”
No! That’s bad for the baby! Once she wasn’t the concern anymore she’s just a vessel for the next king.
Milk of the poppy IS the shows equivalent to real life morphine, made from opium
Game of Thrones books are amazing, Steejo. Storm of Swords is one of the best books ever written imo.
I have to agree with you. Im only up to the 3rd book but I'm reading it again for the 3rd time now actually before I move on to the next one lol
The throne in GoT is not as menacing with not nearly enough swords
dont disrespect dany like that 😭
After season 8 this is such a fresh breath of air
They spelled it out in the beginning of the episode that the birthing bed is the woman’s battlefield. And then they contrasted the birth scene with the violent scenes at the tournament to drive home that message. The baby’s name Baelon is the name of the current King Viserys and Prince Daemon’s father. That Baelon was renowned as a great warrior.
Guess what
Targaryens aren't bad.
Cause they're people.
And like all people they can be different.
Oh man…. You’ll be very surprised. There’s not a single good person on this show lol
@@LS13. 🤦♂️
Its easy, just remember Rhaenyra is the protagonist, Viserys (just like Daenerys brother) is the father and the uncle is Daemon.
Then you have Alicent and Otto. More characters would show up in the next episodes.
Also, the show improves from ep 5 to 10.
Enjoyed HOTD immensely!! Awesome show. Hope yall enjoy too! Never seen harry potter guess i need to check it out
Can we call you, Sweet Summer Children again?
No spoilers but Daemon is my favourite character! Hopefully you'll agree as you watch further episodes.
You guys are in for a treat with this show
"Are you creamin' a little bit?? Over the throne..." 😆😆😆😆😆😆
So glad to have you back again!!! Keep doing what you do, we love it…
You saw the same dragon skull in GoT, Balerion in the dungeons.
The swords thing isn’t really known re the Iron Throne when the extra ones got taken away, possibly when Robert got in there?? and the marble things on the small council table defs didn’t survive either and nor should they!!
Yess loved it!❤ Don't do my boy Daemon dirty like that though lol 😅
It is weird how emotional it was watching this first episode. The impact GoT had on us, we were all so emotionally invested, so this felt like coming home.
A generation is 20 years, not 50 years. HoTD takes place about 8-9 generations before GoT.
im glad you guys enjoyed it. I was really skeptical at first, but when i saw this episode it sold me.
From grr Martin daemon is the Best Targaryen he wrote. And also the chair cut the king because he make a mistake sending away his brother. He should trust him
Happy New Year and welcome back. I did watch HotD when it aired on HBO last year but I'm ready to watch it again with you two. Let's go!
Happy new year!!!
Glad you started House of the Dragon! Season 2 should be released this summer if I'm not wrong
This follows the dance of dragons book
Best Martin book ever!!!! This show will be fucking insane if they don’t FUCK IT UP!
Daemons wife has not been introduced yet. Its not the lady you have seen so far her name is Mysaria
I actually felt the same way about HOTD before I saw it. I just wasn’t feeling it, but boy did it win me over.
Ned might've seen the throne with a thousand blades when Jamie killed the mad king but I'm not sure. I'm sure the hard-core fans will know
The throne is simply smaller in GOT due to budgeting in the earlier seasons.
Just FYI, we DO have tests that cars have to pass in order to be deemed road worthy. It's different in different states I think, but where I live (Delaware) its a semi-annual thing.
Bravo. ( Happy New Year ! )

Ned saw the iron throne after the fall of Kings landing once Jamie killed the mad King, stark and Lancaster forces entered the city Ned was one of the first too go to the throne room where he found the dead mad king and Jamie sitting on the throne. They talked about it in the first or 2nd episode. And it's little finger that says there isn't a 1000 blades only a few hundred ❤
We have car inspections mandatory every year too😂😂
I am so glad you got The song of Ice and Fire books! They left a lot out in the show! You will love it Steejo!
I Listen to you guys on the way to work and let me just say, goals
A little background rhaenys is part baratheon so the guy calling her the queen who never was i related to her
YIPEE! LETS GO! 10 MORE EPISODES OF MY FAVORITE SCOTTISH LADS IN THE GoT UNIVERSE
dont forget podrick
and the hound, jorah, ygritte, robb stark etc....
Your not talking about Dougal and Ned Gowan, are you? 🤣
It's funny, that they think, Dayemon is the worst enemy)).
Looks like you're not really paying attention to what you are watching.
In the states it differs from state on motor vehicles emissions testing requirements and vehicle operation functionality testing. So happy they're finally changing it to every other year in my state instead of once a year.
44:53 "Not dead yet" - the words of house Viseris
Happy New Year! I've missed you guys and your reactions!
I'm actually surprised you guys both picked up bits that most reaction channels totally missed in the first episode. For example you guys immediately understand the city watch scene is just simply police brutality, then the dagger, and etc. I'm curious on your takes on the timeskips.
its not 127 years...its 172 years before the birth of denarys...so basically 190 years before the events of game of thrones
You two are the best . This is a great series .
