Thank you, Ramsey does bad shit because he can, and Daemon does bad shit to advance his family's position and keep them safe, I'm ignoring the Rhea Royce thing because how she dies in the books completely contradicts Daemon killing her.
In all fairness I hated him too after episode one but he grew on me
Ramsey was sadistic. That might be the only difference between those two.

Daemon probably didn't really say "the heir for a day", Otto staged this to drive a rift between him and his brother. He didn't deny it when asked by Viserys because he knew it would only make him angrier.
yeah I dont think he said it either, Otto probably manipulated what he said to make it sound worse because that's what otto does.
He was *really* upset at the funeral. Why would he look so sad, and then go on to praise himself and belittle this loss? That's not Daemon pretending; with Rhaenyra, he never pretends. Because she's the only one he feels he can truly be himself with. I think he did make a drunken speech about how torn up he was about the loss, of not just the baby but Aemma, too--and one of Otto's spies heard it and words were shifted mjust enough to spin the actual fact into treason.
I absolutely believe Daemon said it, but probably in a far sadder and more somber way than in tone which Otto implicated him in so doing.

Small correction: the brother of Maester Aemon wasn't the mad king, his nephew was. We should see Aemon in a future show (this one is a bit too early for that). GREAT reaction!
That's true for the show. They actually skipped a generation as part of their streamlining of the books to the screenplay for the show. In the books, Aemon's brother Aegon V had several children, and Aerys the Mad King was his grandson.
I believe that Aerys II (The Mad King) is about 8 or 9 generations down the line.

@@bill.godwin-austen Great call. One of the three requests that George made to Ryan Condal about House of the Dragon was to reinsert Jaehaerys II back into show canon. And since there hasn't been an opportunity to really do that overtly on the show yet, I'm guessing that with Dunk & Egg being a thing, they'll wait until it naturally becomes narratively relevant to do so.

The Baratheons and Lannisters presumably removed all the Targaryen regalia from the throne room and Red Keep, including all those swords, the mythological carvings on the columns (and each king is carved into the top of the column after his death), the dragon skulls, the shrine to Balerion the Black Dread (King Viserys was its last rider) and the in GOT it was relegated to the basement. Also, we are about 10 kings away from the Mad King.
Also, the idea that Aegon foresaw the Long Winter was a long-held theory now confirmed by GRRM since he was actively involved in this show.

Short context on Syrax the dragons personality. Below. Some Dragons facts as well (no spoilers just dragon context)
Syrax is a she-dragon and happens to be titled " The Spoiled Princess" as she loves to be taken care of and fed by the dragon keepers and hates hunting herself.
Targaryens during this time receive dragon eggs in the cradle but not all dragon eggs hatch so some have to claim already living dragons.

Interestingly, even though it's easy for someone watching the series to see him in a kinda feeble light, Viserys has the sort of badass status of having been Balerion's last rider.

The in universe explanation for the extra swords being gone by the time events of GoT starts is the fact that after Roberts rebellion, King Robert moved all the dragon skulls along with anything resembling the Targaryen Dynasty down below away in Kings Landing.
and ofcourse the Actual reason is because the show didn't have the budget for this back then. Even Hotd dont have the budget to do that Massive Book accurate Iron Throne lol. The Iron Throne in Book Canon is literally 50 times bigger than this...

If you listen closely, you can hear the baby choking.
Lord Baratheon was actually insulting Viserys, asking for the favour of "the Queen who never was", implying that she should have been Queen instead of him being King. Which checks out because in 'Fire & Blood' from which this story stems the Baratheons supported Rhaenys at the Council.
Also I think Daemon's move was not illegal but just seen as very dishonourable

There is still a high rate of maternal and infant mortality - at least in the USA.
The baby was breathing funny and gurgling like it was choking. Which is why the maester was looking at the baby funny.
As for the throne - changes to a throne room can happen over years and across different rulers. We saw many changes during the GOT timeline. Joffrey completely re did the throne room. Cersei did the map on the floor of the courtyard…. Oral and written history seems to have existed then (which is why Ned and others would know about a thousand swords of the conquered lining the seat of the throne) Also some bits of history - especially secret ones - can be lost. Since we are going back in time, you’ll discover new use cases for things we’ve come to be familiar with and to me that’s really cool attention to detail by the show runners - and true ti life.
Also Cerwyn houses being mentioned are fan service - they are part of their history/ and high noble families. So they were there for reasons that matter to the story.
Was like "No there isn't?" When you said there is still a high rate of maternal and infant mortality, until I read the 'At least in the USA' part and yeah, fair enough.
55:37 the iron throne was always like this, it's just that in Game of thrones early season1 they didn't have the budget to make it like this so they made it simple

And vice versa. In Rhaenyra´s first scene she talks about Syrex having room for two riders.. Alicent says she´s not interested and Rhaenyra gives a sigh that´s very interesting.
Also, since you've recently watched Harry Potter, you might recognize Otto Hightower (hand of the king) as Xenophilious Lovegood, Luna's father!

Daenerys is the descendant of Rhaenyra; If I recall, she’s her Great x4 Granddaughter lol
The Prophecy that is constantly mentioned in the show is 100% true; It refers to Jon Snow (Though seeing as how “Prince” in high Valyrian can translate to prince AND princess, it can apply to Dany as well)

hotd is from the book Fire & Blood. baelon was the father of viserys and daemon which is why that was the babys name, aemma was viserys' cousin. the mad king is born like 10 generations in the future lol you wont even see the grandparents of people who appear in the show

@@LS13. The very fact that Daemon stopped fighting is proof of him yielding. Yielding is an action, not a statement, or rather the fact of a lack off further action. If Daemon hadn’t yielded, that would mean that the fight is still ongoing, and that Daemon would be fully justified in stabbing Ser Cole with his sword at any moment. Similarly, when I yield at an intersection, I don't need to say anything, I just need to stop driving for a few moments.
Strap on. You are in for a rollercoaster in this season. You switch between who you like or dislike all the time. BTW, it was not his wife with Daemon in the end. It’s was the girl he was with in the brothel.

i think you guys might be making a mistake trying to connect this with whatever the hell was that in the final season of got. george r r martin is clearly connecting this to his next books canon, not the show canon.
The most fun part of this episode was watching y'all have things TOTALLY figured out... that are 100% off the mark! Like most of us, probably. We just weren't recording ourselves watching.

Just so you guys know, the book isn’t 100% factual to the game of thrones universe, the show is meant to be the accurate portrayal vs the book. The book is written as a series of accounts from side characters who have biased views!
The fact that they talk in front of the bloodtree so much means that in the future Bran Stark will be able to watch all those conversations.
The 1000s of swords is a book description. Need would’ve saw it when he took kings landing during Robert’s Rebellion. Remember that that’s when he saw Jaime sitting on the throne with the Mad King dead. “By what right does the wolf judge the lion? By what right?” Google “iron throne book art.”

in the books, the is throne always huge and jagged, in the show we can assume that it looks like this till the Targaryen dynasty lasts and then it gets cleaned up and made to look more like a chair when Robert takes over
I was five months pregnant when I watched this episode and I tripped out for weeks

When it comes to the throne, the portrayal of I'm this is more accurate to the description of the throne. The throne in GoT is not as menacing with not nearly enough swords
The ASOIAF books do have some HOTD spoilers, but that shouldn't necessarily discourage you from reading them. They're great.
There hasn't been a King Baelor yet, so no Great Sept of Baelor. The massive building in Kings Landing is the Dragonpit, which the Targaryens built to stable their dragons. Viserys and Aemma are first cousins. Their parents were siblings. Targaryen incest for the win!
Just to give some perspective of the distance to the original show. Maester Aemon was 102 when he died during Game of Thrones. We get to meet his great-grandfather during the course of this show.
Its easy, just remember Rhaenyra is the protagonist, Viserys (just like Daenerys brother) is the father and the uncle is Daemon.
Then you have Alicent and Otto. More characters would show up in the next episodes.
Also, the show improves from ep 5 to 10.

This series is amazing!
More than even Rhaenyra, the person in that fictional world most loyal to Viserys--is his brother. His mother died when he was a toddler. Viserys was much older--he craves his approval and attention as if he *were* his son. You need to know a bit of the backstory to understand, but--yes. He and Rhaenyra are only... maybe in this, ten years apart? It's more pronounced of a gap in the books, but they aged her up for the show. Making the two of them not quite, but almost contemporaries with him at 24, and her at 15. And in the middle ages, girls were married and had children really, really young.
Most women from back then in my family tree had theirs between 13-20, and died in their early to mid twenties. As you saw with Aemma, that was precisely that reason why. Aemma was very young when she died.
But keep an eye out of Daemon's behaviour going forward. Decide if it's the throne he;s after, or his brother's attention, whatever he needs to do to get it and if it's psoitive or negative.
You two are the best . This is a great series .

Ned might've seen the throne with a thousand blades when Jamie killed the mad king but I'm not sure. I'm sure the hard-core fans will know
The throne is simply smaller in GOT due to budgeting in the earlier seasons. There simply does not need to be perfect continuity between the two shows, or perfect representation every object in either show. Just like the original 007 was a WWII veteran, but is still pretty young today, and is the same man, James Bond, we can suspend our disbelief and just accept it. None of it is real.

Ive just finished GOTs now to the house of the dragon!! From a loyal supporter from the north east (clearly the real north in the UK) lv the content keep up the great work.
The king getting cut on the chair there is a saying it suppose to be that if the king sits on the throne and gets cut it isn’t meant for them to be king. Viserys constantly gets cut when he sits on the throne... and no Dameon did not poison his the throne, he actually cares about his brother.

The guy you were judging his accent, is Bill Patterson. He is a Native Glaswegian. Both him and the Bald Kingsguard are in Outlander. The big domed building is the Dragon Pit. It is where Jon Snow brought the captured Wight to show Cersei.

Viserys wants his daughter to inherit... But he is king only because a woman was not allowed to inherit the throne. So it's understandable people think he is being disloyal here.
