    On the Grubb topic, I think the O-line being garbage really affects how an offense functions. On several plays it seemed like the missed assignments for the line basically blew up any kind of play and most of our best running efforts seem to be against sub par defense or when the opponent attempted to avoid getting burned with big plays. Grubb may not be the right choice, but I feel like with the late start and line play I kind of want to see another year now that he has some more experience and an off-season to self scout you might see a new offense next season.

      The numbers showed Grubbs offense is worse than Shane Waldron's

      @stevenvonsancho care to elaborate on what those stats are?

    • @stevenvonsancho
      @stevenvonsancho 4 дня назад +5

      @joshestes6427 EPA from 23 to 24 dropped from 10th to 20th with more points scored by defense in 24 than 23 but the alarming offensive stats this year are 29th in running back carries, 31st is rate of play-action, 32nd in quick pressures allowed and taking 1st in shotgun rate. Pass/ run predictability rate was at about 75% based only on personnel lineup aswell.

      @@stevenvonsancho so my responses would be many of those stats seem O-line dependent too, because if you are receiving constant pressure you end up in negative situations which reduces opportunities to run, or use play action, which means those numbers seem at least partially dependent on the performance of the O-line. Also, the line was better last year and the stats for Waldren were inflated from the first part of the season when they were putting up big numbers, and then plummeted and Shane could not adjust at all. I am not convinced that Grubb is the guy, but Waldren also was not in his first year and performed so much worse at adjusting to defensive changes he saw.

    Glad linemen are getting attention. I didn't play O-line but grew to appreciate them most.
    I got flame for years trying to call attention to our O-line issues and glad it's getting addressed by fans at least.

    If we signed the best Left Guard available, like a fringe all pro guy, imagine how much better across and Olu would be.
    One signing could improve 3 spots

      I’m not saying cross and olu are bad. I’m saying they’re average with massive potential and the correct left guard signing could elevate cross to pro bowl level and Olu to solid starter.

    There might also be Cap casualties to look at this summer. I'm thinking particularly of Wyatt Teller of the Cleveland Browns. The Browns have Zack Zinter to replace him at Right Guard on a rookie contract and also now the 2nd overall pick in the draft, for which they'll need to find cap room. I think he could well be available for a cheap trade in the summer?

    Like you mentioned, TE is generally thought of as a luxury position to draft, but I’ve wanted a difference making, pass catching AND blocking TE for a while. Just think what we could do with a Kittle type TE in our offense! We would be explosive and get decent blocking help for our o line. And hopefully bring that nastiness to help unlock our other guys. I’d sign up for that today.

      He’s not an OC or a DC. That’s the point. He’s also an expert on the same side of the ball as Macdonald. If you read my article you can see the best teams have HC level partners on the opposite side of the ball.

    The Seahawks need to find an offensive line czar who has a history of success identifying those players. They also need to replace Geno, who is a mid-level player who is 35, go get another mid-level guy 7-10 years younger, and try to identify a mid-round draft pick to develop. Grubb did okay with a bad online and QB that loves to throw some picks.

      Geno going to be better than anybody out there. You have to play hero ball when the oline trash. And defense was trash before the bye wk.and a oc learning on the job

    • @ThePNWRiderWA
      @ThePNWRiderWA 4 дня назад

      I agree. They have invested 2 high picks on RB and McIntosh I believe needs a chance and will be good.
      They need a run first line and a game manager QB that does not make mistakes. Geno throws a lot of picks especially in the red zone. Paying 40m for a mistake prone , older WB does not make sense. There a lot of OK backups that can works good enough. Cooper Rush even drew lock could serve as a cheap alternative.
      I just don’t see this as a one year fix.

    i wouldn’t sleep on us taking kenneth grant in the 1st depending on what we do in free agency. A true nose tackle like that could really help out a guy like byron murphy who’s forced to play a bit out of position, and grant is someone connected with mike🤷‍♂️

    I've seen teams over the years like KC, who after 1 SB lose where they lost their oline due to injuries, fixed their oline and I think won the SB the next season!, so the oline can get fixed in a season maybe 2!, it's just were does that issue lie on the list of priorities to address next off-season and that's up to JS. Basically how important is it compared to other issues that need 2 b addressed.
    I for one think it's the #1 if not #2 next 2 QB.
    Oline makes the offense work all GM's know this! JS has 2 find a way! Or not and we miss the playoffs again and again!

    I mean how much quarterback tape are you guys watching to not be in on any of these quarterbacks? Dart is worth at least a third round pick to develop behind Geno, he’s just 22 and can sling it. Watch his all 22.

  • @EdFairbanks-i4y
    @EdFairbanks-i4y 4 дня назад

    Being that we’ve extended a lot of resources and draft choices and still haven’t gotten it right I would try and rebuild the offensive line by trading our elite skill players, specifically, Metcalf, and K9 and try and get two young elite players in return rather than draft choices, which don’t guarantee anything. build the trenches.

    I like grubb but you can’t let him figure out how to attack D structures, layer plays, use more disguise on the job. He’s calling the collection of plays like when we criticize Nathaniel Hackett or other OCs, you need someone with experience and can’t lose a year. And that person needs a complex productive run game for this offense. Sorry grubb we like you but it didn’t work out.

    1. A actual QB
    2. A new O line. A couple of keepers but need a couple starters and bemch depth
