It’s hard to change my mind after the fact, but while I don’t agree with your position I do respect you having a position on this. I’m biased with what I hear from my conversations with developers over the years about this topic and my personal observations with how Dcuo handles resource management vs reward situations.
I was joking about eliminating roles, but yeah... from a business model artifacts are more profitable than powers and they do the same thing essentially. Makes sense. I still think there's a lot of... things that are pretty, or theme based or reworks of the open world thing that ends up being a ghost town they could spend their time on... but agreed, fixing powers is probably the way to go, but, not sure that would make them any more money either so, not likely.

Dude. You must understand that creating a New Powerset is not easy. You think it is easy to say like "Cosmic", or "Solar", or "Fairy", but keep in mind that each power must have 27 Skills, and 27 different VFXs. Make this exercise, try you, select one of the powers you mentioned and try to create 27 skills...

I've been here since Beta. I have to admit. I do want new powers! Blue Lanterns, Black/Darkness power (necromantic) , Physical/Totem powerset maybe Vixen, Potions, Elasticity. We truly need more stuff. Id even take new Weapons. Whips, Boomerangs etc. And I still want Rocket Boots for Movement. Rocket boots are on NPCS in the game. Even Mapp's mentioned it years ago. Maybe we could add those Rocket boots from War of Light.

Clearly the consumers want more powers thus they should be making them. They are much more interesting and fun than repetitive alerts/raids. There's no reason we shouldn't be getting both, from a business side, yeah just make predatory lootboxes and milk the player base, why bother putting in actual time/effort/money..but this thinking should not be encouraged by the players. DC/WB/DB are too cheap to fund the game properly. It feels like an indie game in terms of development despite a massive IP.
They used to drop powers with episodes so they just don’t care anymore. The only care about scam capsules nowadays but a power revamp or rework would be great

I'm tired of excuses honestly. Everything operates so slow on this game it's actually painful. The game needs a COMPLETE redo of its UI because it looks like a freaking PS2 game, unbelievably hideous. And it needs a major graphic update to a lot of the ZONES because they're hideous. The priority should be catching up to today's standards of the games, THEN add a new power to entice players. All while still making episodes. If every other game can do it, so can they. Enough with the slow progress, I thought the game would look better by 2018 and it still looks like garbage, besides the few updated npc models. Enough excuses please... these things could have been done ages ago but instead we just get episodes with the same bosses and mechanics and fights and ooo a new aura ooo a new hair. How about they work on making all the ugly stuff that's already in the game actually look good?? After all, that's what the new player's first impression will be based on. The UI, and the early missions set Metropolis/Gotham are hideous. I'm SO tired of the outdated look and sound effects.
Sad thing is. In one of the dlcs (i believe the one where you could use legend characters in missions for the first time) they showed of an upgrades version of the HUD and it never launched. Also the UI and HUD feel so outdated and bad. I remeber when i used to play that i couldnt read what the HUD said (bad tv) and there was literally 0 option to enhance it or make it bigger for convenience sake
I totally understand where you are coming from logistics wise with new power sets...I've been playing DCUO since it launched on Ps3. I respectfully disagree, I think something should be done on a regular basis, not like every 2 months but maybe launch new powers only once a year or if the devs could figure a way to freshen up the old power sets if we could change the animation color of water, fire, ice, etc... I think that would be cool! DCUO is really aged when compared to other games if new powers is constantly being brought up in forums then players clearly want them. Cost effective or not the devs need to keep the loyal long time players happy because that's what keeps the game going/running but that's just My Opinion.
The game is more about cosplay for me tbh I enjoy playing when my character feels accurate and I’m sure lots of others agree. Instead of adding new powers the should add a way to change the colors of your powers. That way you could make just about anyone. I want to do a doctor fate character but not with sorcery’s color pallet
I think we should get 1-3 powers per year along with the usual DLC releases. I may be expecting too much out of a game thats been around almost 11 years but why wouldn't they want to bring something that intrigues people and makes people learn a new power? Even if people did create a new toon, there's leveling that character up ect money on artifacts, replays ect.
Raid #88 with new floaty characters, and "learn the mechanics, newb!" isn't bringing in new players. Lewtboxes don't bring in players. It's been years since a new power. They should make one. That's what mmos do.
They already have a mostly unused power in the game. Its wind power. Simply remove the abilities from the flight menu, use high/low pressure as the PI, add a few supercharges and some better effects...BAM...brand new powerset.

I beg to differ in the fact that DC is so outdated when it comes to alot of other MMOs that keep current and new things coming out. PVP in itself hasn't had anything new since 101 cr Bella Reeve years ago! We pay so much for this game that the consistency of content, powers,styles and things of that nature should be given in accordance. The cost alone of this game makes it completely fair for people to expect new things. They have been talking about balance for years and when has it ever gotten balanced? So I feel like it's better to keep the game refreshed with new things then waiting years for them to fix things that they have already spent years trying to fix that never get fixed. Again we PAY for the devs to do these things.
Forever force power would be the best addition. Speed force abilities, superman strength abilities, time control abilities, telekinesis abilities, psyche abilities, geokinesis abilities. It would make the abilities much more variety give players more choices to fit their characters
1- For the people who like to tank or heal or troll, theres only 5 powers to choose. Dps players got 15 powers. One way to add "new powers" would be to extend the limited 2 roles per powerset and create the other missing roles for all powersets. No need to create new animations or vfx. Just change the way each power work in the desire role. 2- You really believe that creating 1 new power would take more time that creating whole new dlc? Wich involves new scenarios for raids, alerts, new models, animations, etc. I dont think its a time issue, its only for $$$. Love your videos btw. Hope you get some rest.
I agree. Eg: when I was reading the 'July development update' it was really them adding modern mmo systems into the game & upgrading their game coding and infrastructure that got me back playing the game. Fuck a power - I want base game foundation improvements !
Investing time into balancing the powersets is definitely better for the overall health and longevity of the game. It adds diversity. As it stands, whoever is new to the game eventually asks or Googles "best dps power" and thus the culling of the existing powersets continues and in turn narrows it down to the handful of which ppl use.
changing the UI for the sake of changing the UI kinda seems like asking for new powers for the sake of simply wanting new powers :P i am playing a game now that has gone thru 3 UI changes in the last 4 months and this latest is the absolute worst on the eyes.

let's get real, it's not a "drug addiction" for new content, DCUO has limited devs and time, so we CRAVE new content. There's nothing wrong with wanting something that makes gameplay fresh man. You kinda got it twisted in the beginning of the vid. Sure you might think something otherwise but grinding skillpoints is out ONLY content after end game episodes get stale. It's all about opportunity for us. Not "what's op"
Just add styles and color customization to the current powers. It would be relatively easy and would feel like new stuff. Also widely open up character ideas.
This entire argument is redundant. I don't think players are disacknowledging, the fact that it takes time to make both content and a new power. But that's a poor argument I understand sticking up for the devs. But let's not act like content doesn't take a long ass time regardless. Other MMO's have done just fine making new content on top of making new classes for example FFXIV, BDO, & ESO. If they can't keep up the game will die no matter how you look at it, the goal is to keep players engaged. (Also new powers and maybe a massive graphics overhaul and new players might start coming back.) I can't be the only one that clicked on this video hyped to hear about a new power.
Agree with everything. Another thing is that a lot (not all) of the people who say they want a new power really want one that they are imagining they would like. If DCUO actually released a new power, 3/4 of the people who have said they want a new power would say "well, I didn't want THAT power"
As for trying to create a unique power... You could make a Orange lantern power that Was an entirely new role!!! You spawn friendly NPC'S And then try to avoid combat!!! The only thing is I have no idea how you would make a DPS roll for it...
With genuine respect for you (I always appreciate your videos and they have helped me a great deal along the way) I've been a subscriber since Beta, and I don't have the same perspective on this issue. I realise a new power would be a lot of work and resources, but to me it seems very much worth it since for me this is a top *priority*. I think it may be a personality type issue. In other games as in this one I often see varied interests and foci among the players: those who would prefer the devs polish what we have; those who would prefer new PvE content; those who prefer new PvP content (or balancing); those who prefer new rewards; those who prefer new character options. I would very much like to see a new power since for me maybe the most compelling part of a game is designing a new character and then levelling them up to see them reach their potential. It's the *main* thing that keeps me playing any game, and that also draws me back to a game, *much* more so than an expansion or any of the other improvements listed above. I usually try every class/race in a game, and when there are no new classes/races left to try I tend to then lose interest. Pragmatically speaking it also always seemed sensible from a business standpoint to me. Creating a new expansion zone can be exciting and a big draw for many people, new or returning, but it also takes a ton of development work and when players burn through that new content (and some do very fast) they are then done and back to daily repeat grinding, and might drift away from playing. On the other hand the addition of a new power(class) is also a huge draw to new and returning players but then can also be a much larger time-sink than a new zone, since it means taking a new character potentially through ALL previous existing content, which is basically like the devs getting to make new money *again* off of all the old content, plus anything new. Anyhow, I am well acquainted with DCUO, and would very much appreciate a new power. It's my number 1 interest by a very large margin, and is the thing most likely to help get me really interested and excited to play DCUO again. After that I'd like some efforts to address how toxic people are towards fellow players, and my third interest would be improving the graphics - in that order. But that's just my interests. Other people favour other things.
I'll either switch one of my alts or make a whole new character to mess with the power. I'm not all that thrilled for a new power but if they make one then cool. TBH I know most don't care but I want new Personalities or at least customize ours. If you're on the villain side look at how Cold Cuts stands or if you're a hero look Swamp Thing. I'm sure it won't take long just to do that one. I'm also looking at arts being able to hold 4 or 5 of them. I'd honestly prefer cosmetic kind of things rather than opening 200 lockboxes. I'm beyond done with lock boxes or booster bundles.
Incorrect! I was quantum during AM and I didn't switch, so not everyone pal. Maybe try some phrases like "a lot of people", "a major part of the player base", or "tons of people". Ok? My character has been and will continue to be quantum, no matter what! That's why you create alts instead of switching powers, duh! Yep, I added my own rant to yours! You're welcome!

I have a wind toon and a sound toon, it's all in the game already. One can easily make weather, magnetism and probably more too. TBH if they could sell us skins for Robot Sidekick, we'd be happier and they'd make more $$.
I still remember when electricity got nerfed. I still kept it though but on my 4th character. I'll always keep fire as my main. For some reason I love it...gadgets too😎
I’ve been mental since 2014. It gets nerfed I level up one of my alts in the meantime. Mental gets buffed I go back to my main. I only have 3 characters I rotate them.
Tbh I wouldn't mind having new iconic powers. Iconic powers are pretty much 1 or 2 abilities connected to that iconic character. So it wouldn't be much of a issue by implementing new iconic powers.
Power set issues are simply math problems. Maybe the devs don’t own calculators. Power sets not being fair, or balanced or working is completely the devs fault every time. Why isn’t DCUO using the most recent unreal engine? Players wanted all of the Lantern ring powers back in 2011. It could & should have been done. No excuses. The powers sets could have been equalized.. other video games have done it from the start. Example is you have 15 powers on a tree & each one goes up but with different delays, DPS, heals, & group or solo buffs. It’s not rocket science. A mathematician could set it up in a week. Animations are not difficult either. The dev excuses are nonsense.
Game Really does need a new power, and i was here for each power release as well. Period. Patching and reworking content is commonplace in gaming today.
I do think that they shouldn’t add new powers but update the already existing ones. The water animations are tragic, Quantum looks more like water than water does. Celestial for instance has very few cool animations, but the powers with the cool animations barely do damage. Plus I think it’s a complete waste to make 2 trees with the same powers, just in a different animation. They should add more iconic powers as well and everyone would be happy.
Honestly I would definitely feel more freedom with more powers because I DNT like everyone have so little choice from powers, I think we need much more diversity, especially out of healers and tanks, theres way too many trolls.
So, basically the roles should be eliminated, everyone just wants to DPS so and they should just do auto heals and power. Not sure how I see how powers and artifacts are different. The new DLC is stupid, who uses league halls? Maybe if they didn't work on things nobody wants... but I agree, they should get rid of self heals for trolls and fix the powersets. The new DLC is going to be as stupid as league halls.

This game still doesn’t have a new powers? Fucking trash. No other game does this because it’s fucking weird. Not everyone cares if a power is overpowered or not, some players just get bored from casting the same abilities forever with no updates or anything. One of biggest reasons I quit dc universe is because I had played almost every power and I was bored to death with all of em.

I totally agree. Even if it would be "fancy" to have new powersets it would cause months of re-balancing after it would have been released...or maybe years even. My opinion of new content even goes a bit further: FIX stuff before releasing new stuff! New DLCs every 3 or 4 months could drop to every 6 months if it were for me. Or even once per year if it could make the team actually enhancing what we already have.
They need to be concerned with balancing powersets and not creating a new power. I've been quantum since it came out and i still run the same dps moveset as i did before they nerfed time bomb by making it drop from the ceiling instead of like a normal projectile attack, capping its damage and increasing the cool down to 6 seconds from 3. I would much rather see different powersets other than superspeed, rage and gadgets. Keep up the great videos Chill!
As a 10-year veteran of this game I predate the combat rating system. I came in the week before the PlayStation network was hacked back in 2011. I participated the Trigon SM, fortress SM, Oan SM and I have done Titans back to back. This game does not need new powers right now, but what it does need is a serious balance.
Think dropping a new power isn’t really about if it’s op or anything but more of a change to the norm. I know every time a new power was announced to drop my friends and I would get hyped af even if it was cheeks. The argument about people switching and then getting bored and switching back may be true but same thing goes for dlcs. Average players probably grind for about a month and then the content gets old at that point and people go back to playing different games until next dlc comes. It’s a never ending cycle. I personally think that if they were to have 3 dlcs and a new power drop every year the game would be doing a bit better than it currently is. If they really wanna get crazy with it instead of a new power though maybe think about having powers interact with different powers in game. For example, if I go into a raid with an electric and water dps they would have increased crit magnitude or something like that same with like a fire and munitions, they could get and effect where maybe they get an extra dot to proc because of their teammates power. It would give more incentive to have variety and I think that would be fun af since it’s something so different to what we are used to, or have burns like in destiny where every week the dlcs raid has a power that does increased damage, heals, etc.
This seems to be the modern day mentality. Its a dumb mentality. Lets not make the devs actually work for the money they earn from players. Let not hold a billion dollar company like WB accountable for piss poor management and predatory monetization practices. It is their job to balance the game, release new content of all kinds in a timely manner and reward players for spending their money. They don't so instead of making them lets let them milk us and allow the game to stagnate. Awesome. I'd like all that actually. New story, powers, style sets, weapons, balance etc. and its not hard for a company who puts forth effort to do things like that. There are plenty of examples. DCUO uses us and players like you tell other people they are wrong instead of holding the company accountable like we should. its good to have new content but What is a superhero game without new powers, its been almost a decade since we had anything new, all the new dlcs are just like the others, grind spend money, rinse and repeat so its not like the content were getting is different like the others anyways
I enjoy your vids but you approach this power topic as if you literally only play this game for numbers. Some people are just DC fans who just enjoy a DC game.
You don't play a game for 10+ years without understanding exactly how it works both in and outside of it. I know what it takes to make a new powerset and while there are players that would enjoy have a new powerset for a month or 2 it the grand scheme of the game it hurts it overall. I don't want to hurt DCUO development which is what a new powerset would do and has been confirmed by senior producers in the game.
At this point idc bout the content side because everytime they make new content its boring or ok good but its quickly beaten and than it's back to being bored. At least with new powers I play with it and have fun learning it. Mind you I've played every power. And idc bout it being op. Damn....I do agree with rather having powers balanced or bugs fixed than a new power. That was on point! I don't even know what power people want added. A healer lantern power makes sense because the lantern leagues could have all roles covered by hard light powers. But no one wants to be a healer that isn't a healer already. And like you said...the devs get $20 out the deal ($10 to switch and $10 to switch back to their old power)
I would agree that’s it’s content over powers but game has an abundance of content that 80% fail when it’s new anyway so who cares. Game should’ve been for every 5 episodes drop a power
Earth DPS is op since day one, people just think you are post to always use jackhammer or any combo base ability. There was also a glitch going on where you can use totem and one shot bosses like brainiac in prime battleground heck you could also use that combo in tank. They should just let us play all for Roles, turn the armories into alts you don't need the switch character menu.
Totally agree. While it would be interesting to get a new power, it's definitely not necessary as we have plenty to work with as it is, and would take the devs off of more important things like new content and fixes. They would need a much bigger team before they can even consider making a new powerset. Sadly though, there are a lot of people in the forums who DEMAND stuff without having the first clue what they're actually talking about. A poplar demand I see is "Improve the graphics!!!", like it's as simple as just turning up the volume on a stereo! ("we're at about a 5 now, if you could just turn it up to like, 7 or 8, that would be great. Thanks!") It's like they assume you can just turn the graphics up a notch without having to basically remake every asset, map, texture etc in the game. The devs would basically have to remake the whole game from scratch!
water might isn't that bad, it just has to work alot harder than numerous other powers for that damage. Plus if you use hightide you are stuck to like 4 powers and then only have 2 to mix up the rotation

Dude. You must understand that creating a New Powerset is not easy. You think it is easy to say like "Cosmic", or "Solar", or "Fairy", but keep in mind that each power must have 27 Skills, and 27 different VFXs. Make this exercise, try you, select one of the powers you mentioned and try to create 27 skills...

I've been here since Beta. I have to admit. I do want new powers! Blue Lanterns, Black/Darkness power (necromantic) , Physical/Totem powerset maybe Vixen, Potions, Elasticity. We truly need more stuff. Id even take new Weapons. Whips, Boomerangs etc. And I still want Rocket Boots for Movement. Rocket boots are on NPCS in the game. Even Mapp's mentioned it years ago. Maybe we could add those Rocket boots from War of Light.

Clearly the consumers want more powers thus they should be making them. They are much more interesting and fun than repetitive alerts/raids. There's no reason we shouldn't be getting both, from a business side, yeah just make predatory lootboxes and milk the player base, why bother putting in actual time/effort/money..but this thinking should not be encouraged by the players.
DC/WB/DB are too cheap to fund the game properly. It feels like an indie game in terms of development despite a massive IP.

I'm tired of excuses honestly. Everything operates so slow on this game it's actually painful. The game needs a COMPLETE redo of its UI because it looks like a freaking PS2 game, unbelievably hideous. And it needs a major graphic update to a lot of the ZONES because they're hideous. The priority should be catching up to today's standards of the games, THEN add a new power to entice players. All while still making episodes. If every other game can do it, so can they. Enough with the slow progress, I thought the game would look better by 2018 and it still looks like garbage, besides the few updated npc models. Enough excuses please... these things could have been done ages ago but instead we just get episodes with the same bosses and mechanics and fights and ooo a new aura ooo a new hair. How about they work on making all the ugly stuff that's already in the game actually look good?? After all, that's what the new player's first impression will be based on. The UI, and the early missions set Metropolis/Gotham are hideous. I'm SO tired of the outdated look and sound effects.
Sad thing is. In one of the dlcs (i believe the one where you could use legend characters in missions for the first time) they showed of an upgrades version of the HUD and it never launched. Also the UI and HUD feel so outdated and bad. I remeber when i used to play that i couldnt read what the HUD said (bad tv) and there was literally 0 option to enhance it or make it bigger for convenience sake

I totally understand where you are coming from logistics wise with new power sets...I've been playing DCUO since it launched on Ps3. I respectfully disagree, I think something should be done on a regular basis, not like every 2 months but maybe launch new powers only once a year or if the devs could figure a way to freshen up the old power sets if we could change the animation color of water, fire, ice, etc... I think that would be cool! DCUO is really aged when compared to other games if new powers is constantly being brought up in forums then players clearly want them. Cost effective or not the devs need to keep the loyal long time players happy because that's what keeps the game going/running but that's just My Opinion.

They already have a mostly unused power in the game. Its wind power. Simply remove the abilities from the flight menu, use high/low pressure as the PI, add a few supercharges and some better effects...BAM...brand new powerset.

I beg to differ in the fact that DC is so outdated when it comes to alot of other MMOs that keep current and new things coming out. PVP in itself hasn't had anything new since 101 cr Bella Reeve years ago! We pay so much for this game that the consistency of content, powers,styles and things of that nature should be given in accordance. The cost alone of this game makes it completely fair for people to expect new things. They have been talking about balance for years and when has it ever gotten balanced? So I feel like it's better to keep the game refreshed with new things then waiting years for them to fix things that they have already spent years trying to fix that never get fixed. Again we PAY for the devs to do these things.

1- For the people who like to tank or heal or troll, theres only 5 powers to choose.
Dps players got 15 powers. One way to add "new powers" would be to extend the limited 2 roles per powerset and create the other missing roles for all powersets.
No need to create new animations or vfx. Just change the way each power work in the desire role.
2- You really believe that creating 1 new power would take more time that creating whole new dlc? Wich involves new scenarios for raids, alerts, new models, animations, etc.

Investing time into balancing the powersets is definitely better for the overall health and longevity of the game. It adds diversity. As it stands, whoever is new to the game eventually asks or Googles "best dps power" and thus the culling of the existing powersets continues and in turn narrows it down to the handful of which ppl use.

let's get real, it's not a "drug addiction" for new content, DCUO has limited devs and time, so we CRAVE new content. There's nothing wrong with wanting something that makes gameplay fresh man. You kinda got it twisted in the beginning of the vid. Sure you might think something otherwise but grinding skillpoints is out ONLY content after end game episodes get stale. It's all about opportunity for us. Not "what's op"
Just add styles and color customization to the current powers. It would be relatively easy and would feel like new stuff. Also widely open up character ideas.

This entire argument is redundant. I don't think players are disacknowledging, the fact that it takes time to make both content and a new power. But that's a poor argument I understand sticking up for the devs. But let's not act like content doesn't take a long ass time regardless. Other MMO's have done just fine making new content on top of making new classes for example FFXIV, BDO, & ESO. If they can't keep up the game will die no matter how you look at it, the goal is to keep players engaged. (Also new powers and maybe a massive graphics overhaul and new players might start coming back.) I can't be the only one that clicked on this video hyped to hear about a new power.

Agree with everything. Another thing is that a lot (not all) of the people who say they want a new power really want one that they are imagining they would like. If DCUO actually released a new power, 3/4 of the people who have said they want a new power would say "well, I didn't want THAT power"

With genuine respect for you (I always appreciate your videos and they have helped me a great deal along the way) I've been a subscriber since Beta, and I don't have the same perspective on this issue. I realise a new power would be a lot of work and resources, but to me it seems very much worth it since for me this is a top *priority*. I think it may be a personality type issue. In other games as in this one I often see varied interests and foci among the players: those who would prefer the devs polish what we have; those who would prefer new PvE content; those who prefer new PvP content (or balancing); those who prefer new rewards; those who prefer new character options.
I would very much like to see a new power since for me maybe the most compelling part of a game is designing a new character and then levelling them up to see them reach their potential. It's the *main* thing that keeps me playing any game, and that also draws me back to a game, *much* more so than an expansion or any of the other improvements listed above. I usually try every class/race in a game, and when there are no new classes/races left to try I tend to then lose interest.
Pragmatically speaking it also always seemed sensible from a business standpoint to me. Creating a new expansion zone can be exciting and a big draw for many people, new or returning, but it also takes a ton of development work and when players burn through that new content (and some do very fast) they are then done and back to daily repeat grinding, and might drift away from playing. On the other hand the addition of a new power(class) is also a huge draw to new and returning players but then can also be a much larger time-sink than a new zone, since it means taking a new character potentially through ALL previous existing content, which is basically like the devs getting to make new money *again* off of all the old content, plus anything new.
Anyhow, I am well acquainted with DCUO, and would very much appreciate a new power. It's my number 1 interest by a very large margin, and is the thing most likely to help get me really interested and excited to play DCUO again. After that I'd like some efforts to address how toxic people are towards fellow players, and my third interest would be improving the graphics - in that order. But that's just my interests. Other people favour other things.

I'll either switch one of my alts or make a whole new character to mess with the power. I'm not all that thrilled for a new power but if they make one then cool. TBH I know most don't care but I want new Personalities or at least customize ours. If you're on the villain side look at how Cold Cuts stands or if you're a hero look Swamp Thing. I'm sure it won't take long just to do that one.
I'm also looking at arts being able to hold 4 or 5 of them. I'd honestly prefer cosmetic kind of things rather than opening 200 lockboxes. I'm beyond done with lock boxes or booster bundles.

Incorrect! I was quantum during AM and I didn't switch, so not everyone pal. Maybe try some phrases like "a lot of people", "a major part of the player base", or "tons of people". Ok? My character has been and will continue to be quantum, no matter what! That's why you create alts instead of switching powers, duh! Yep, I added my own rant to yours! You're welcome!

I’ve been mental since 2014. It gets nerfed I level up one of my alts in the meantime. Mental gets buffed I go back to my main. I only have 3 characters I rotate them.
Tbh I wouldn't mind having new iconic powers. Iconic powers are pretty much 1 or 2 abilities connected to that iconic character. So it wouldn't be much of a issue by implementing new iconic powers.

Power set issues are simply math problems. Maybe the devs don’t own calculators. Power sets not being fair, or balanced or working is completely the devs fault every time. Why isn’t DCUO using the most recent unreal engine? Players wanted all of the Lantern ring powers back in 2011. It could & should have been done. No excuses. The powers sets could have been equalized.. other video games have done it from the start. Example is you have 15 powers on a tree & each one goes up but with different delays, DPS, heals, & group or solo buffs. It’s not rocket science. A mathematician could set it up in a week. Animations are not difficult either. The dev excuses are nonsense.
Game Really does need a new power, and i was here for each power release as well. Period. Patching and reworking content is commonplace in gaming today.
I do think that they shouldn’t add new powers but update the already existing ones. The water animations are tragic, Quantum looks more like water than water does. Celestial for instance has very few cool animations, but the powers with the cool animations barely do damage. Plus I think it’s a complete waste to make 2 trees with the same powers, just in a different animation. They should add more iconic powers as well and everyone would be happy.
Honestly I would definitely feel more freedom with more powers because I DNT like everyone have so little choice from powers, I think we need much more diversity, especially out of healers and tanks, theres way too many trolls.
So, basically the roles should be eliminated, everyone just wants to DPS so and they should just do auto heals and power. Not sure how I see how powers and artifacts are different. The new DLC is stupid, who uses league halls? Maybe if they didn't work on things nobody wants... but I agree, they should get rid of self heals for trolls and fix the powersets. Not everyone cares if a power is overpowered or not, some players just get bored from casting the same abilities forever with no updates or anything. One of biggest reasons I quit dc universe is because I had played almost every power and I was bored to death with all of em.

I totally agree. Even if it would be "fancy" to have new powersets it would cause months of re-balancing after it would have been released...or maybe years even. My opinion of new content even goes a bit further: FIX stuff before releasing new stuff! New DLCs every 3 or 4 months could drop to every 6 months if it were for me. Or even once per year if it could make the team actually enhancing what we already have.

They need to be concerned with balancing powersets and not creating a new power. I've been quantum since it came out and i still run the same dps moveset as i did before they nerfed time bomb by making it drop from the ceiling instead of like a normal projectile attack, capping its damage and increasing the cool down to 6 seconds from 3. I would much rather see different powersets other than superspeed, rage and gadgets. Keep up the great videos Chill!
As a 10-year veteran of this game I predate the combat rating system. I came in the week before the PlayStation network was hacked back in 2011. I participated the Trigon SM, fortress SM, Oan SM and I have done Titans back to back. This game does not need new powers right now, but what it does need is a serious balance.
Tbh I would rather a massive power overhaul or then a new power set, power balance needs to happen so desperately for real!
Think dropping a new power isn’t really about if it’s op or anything but more of a change to the norm. I know every time a new power was announced to drop my friends and I would get hyped af even if it was cheeks. The argument about people switching and then getting bored and switching back may be true but same thing goes for dlcs. Average players probably grind for about a month and then the content gets old at that point and people go back to playing different games until next dlc comes. It’s a never ending cycle. I personally think that if they were to have 3 dlcs and a new power drop every year the game would be doing a bit better than it currently is. If they really wanna get crazy with it instead of a new power though maybe think about having powers interact with different powers in game. For example, if I go into a raid with an electric and water dps they would have increased crit magnitude or something like that same with like a fire and munitions, they could get and effect where maybe they get an extra dot to proc because of their teammates power. It would give more incentive to have variety and I think that would be fun af since it’s something so different to what we are used to, or have burns like in destiny where every week the dlcs raid has a power that does increased damage, heals, etc.
This seems to be the modern day mentality. Its a dumb mentality. Lets not make the devs actually work for the money they earn from players. Let not hold a billion dollar company like WB accountable for piss poor management and predatory monetization practices. It is their job to balance the game, release new content of all kinds in a timely manner and reward players for spending their money. They don't so instead of making them lets let them milk us and allow the game to stagnate. Awesome. I'd like all that actually. New story, powers, style sets, weapons, balance etc. and its not hard for a company who puts forth effort to do things like that. There are plenty of examples. DCUO uses us and players like you tell other people they are wrong instead of holding the company accountable like we should. First off i was there from the friend and families beta…the hame needs a new powerset i am sorry chill but it does the gsmes has been trash for years stop telling ppl we don’t need a power
they were dropping powers like every 3 months

Dcuo powers look so out dated like they need to update the graphics and new animations bc sometimes I hop on my characters and it doesn’t even feel excited..
I like learning new healing powers
A power based in wind and gusts,tornados etc. A troll power of course would be wonderful
its good to have new content but What is a superhero game without new powers, its been almost a decade since we had anything new, all the new dlcs are just like the others, grind spend money, rinse and repeat so its not like the content were getting is different like the others anyways
At this point I think I would like Marvel universe online to be a thing bc marvel has way better powers to be honest
I enjoy your vids but you approach this power topic as if you literally only play this game for numbers. Some people are just DC fans who just enjoy a DC game.
You don't play a game for 10+ years without understanding exactly how it works both in and outside of it. I know what it takes to make a new powerset and while there are players that would enjoy have a new powerset for a month or 2 it the grand scheme of the game it hurts it overall. I don't want to hurt DCUO development which is what a new powerset would do and has been confirmed by senior producers in the game.
At this point idc bout the content side because everytime they make new content its boring or ok good but its quickly beaten and than it's back to being bored. At least with new powers I play with it and have fun learning it. Mind you I've played every power. And idc bout it being op. I just wanna have fun and all the old ones got me bored except light and celeste. And u keep saying noone wants or noone this which is a statement that would always be false. Because there is a huge part of the community that want it. Especially pvpers they dont care bout content like that. They care about powers duels arena. This is why I I lowkey sometimes dont care for when content creators speak for us. Cuz alot of the things yall say be very bias or more to yall liking not everyone

Damn....I do agree with rather having powers balanced or bugs fixed than a new power. That was on point! I don't even know what power people want added. A healer lantern power makes sense because the lantern leagues could have all roles covered by hard light powers. But no one wants to be a healer that isn't a healer already. And like you said...the devs get $20 out the deal ($10 to switch and $10 to switch back to their old power)
I just want a new power because it's something cool and new I really dont play the game competitively
Un-popular opinion. I've been with the game since Beta --- I still want a new power set --- I will always want a new power set.

I would agree that’s it’s content over powers but game has an abundance of content that 80% fail when it’s new anyway so who cares. Game should’ve been for every 5 episodes drop a power
I wish they would change the naming system tbh. Keep perma locks on actual DC characters but anything not related to DC itself shouldn't be 'taken.'
Earth DPS is op since day one, people just think you are post to always use jackhammer or any combo base ability. There was also a glitch going on where you can use totem and one shot bosses like brainiac in prime battleground heck you could also use that combo in tank.
They should just let us play all for Roles, turn the armories into alts you don't need the switch character menu.

Totally agree. While it would be interesting to get a new power, it's definitely not necessary as we have plenty to work with as it is, and would take the devs off of more important things like new content and fixes. They would need a much bigger team before they can even consider making a new powerset.
Sadly though, there are a lot of people in the forums who DEMAND stuff without having the first clue what they're actually talking about. A poplar demand I see is "Improve the graphics!!!", like it's as simple as just turning up the volume on a stereo! ("we're at about a 5 now, if you could just turn it up to like, 7 or 8, that would be great. Thanks!")
It's like they assume you can just turn the graphics up a notch without having to basically remake every asset, map, texture etc in the game. The devs would basically have to remake the whole game from scratch!
I’m one of the few water might dps…and the sad thing is when I see other water dps I feel bad because I look bad by proxy lol
I was might water and did really well in certain content 😃
water might isn't that bad, it just has to work alot harder than numerous other powers for that damage. Plus if you use hightide you are stuck to like 4 powers and then only have 2 to mix up the rotation
@@ObsidianChill yeah I’d like to think my water might is up there and decent or at least the league mates think I’m one of the best, but whenever I see people doing high tide I’m out dpsing them or the majority of time I see might water and they have no clue what their doing for example a few doing the pools and I’m like please stop just stop I look bad because of you lol
🤔maybe instead of new powerset probably an artifacts that changes it like the solar amplifier. Like an artifact that turns your green lantern ring into a pink lantern ring or something.
Should have a Death power for black lanterns or White lantern power.
