      I have the Black Gold pro 3 pin, but have always regretted not getting the 5 pin and taking one off. You’re the only other person I’ve heard mention it. 4 seems like the perfect setup. I was actually going to call Black Gold and ask them if I could order a pro pin and Allen screws so I could add one to mine.

    The fact that you were able to break the MBG functioning the way it was intended(dialing the sight while it’s locked shouldn’t break the sight, it should only stop the sight from sliding) is exactly why I would never use one. I also had one break in the field.

    I’m using the fast Eddie w/2 pin. Take note of the top of the level bubble, it’s about the same distance as the gap between the 2 pins. You can use it as a 3 pin if you figure out the yardage distance difference. I’m shooting 575 grains at 65# at roughly 250’/sec. I have about a 13 yard distance between my 1st and 2nd pin. It’s close to the same for my bubble top. Give it a try when you are working on your nice new range. 😀

      @@justinryan1488 yes, try the same yardage distance as you 1st to 2nd pin, and go that far back. In a sense, you’ll have a 3 pin setup, then you can dial in father distances after that.

    This is a vote for the new MBG Pro Single Pin (or any single pin for that matter). I am an elk and mule deer hunter. I cannot stand pin clutter. I have used a single pin sight for years without issue on moving or stationary shots. Review Darrin Cooper's Trick-Pin System (essentially with your pin set at a default of 45 -50 yds, depending on bow speed, with a 12" low hold you are in the kill zone from 10-40 yds; a 12" low on a mature bull is right at the bottom of the brisket so you have an built-in spot). Beyond 40 I have found you generally have time to set up and move the sight. Works incredibly well; simple, quick and no thinking required when that bull is coming in closely. Try it, you will be amazed!

    The double pin Fast Eddie is all you need. I leave it set to 30 and 45 by default and that allows quick shots out to 50. Practice using the pins for off yardages so you're not moving the sight so much while hunting. e.g. high 40, low 30, etc.

    I haven't tried a MGB but I can say I'm loving my 3 pin Fast Eddie. Top 2 pins are .019s and bottom pin is .010. First pin is zeroed at 20, second pin 30, third pin at 40yds and the third pin is on the slider/sight tape, which enables me to shoot to 95yds with a 550gr arrow.

    Great review!!! I was debating between the Hogg Father and the Black Gold Pro. Now considering the Fast Eddie XL. What I do like about my Black Gold 3 pin slider I have currently is I can move the pins down in the housing to get my 50 yard pin right above the bubble. Do you prefer a vertical pin or the horizontal pins like on the Black Gold and does having the Spot Hoggs pin way above the bubble bother you?

    I have the black gold in the 3 pin and the single pin. I sold the spot hog fast Eddie due to in my opinion that the black gold sights are just better. I like where the sight tape is located better on the B.G . It's vertical in your line of sight the S.H is on a dial so you have to move your head or the bow sometimes to see the yardage. No need for a light on the B.G unlike the S.H you can see your pins easily before and after legal shooting light. Pins never halo in direct sunlight.
    I could go on and on with what I like better about the B.G . I never contacted S.H customer service but I did B.G because I fell with my bow climbing some rocks and it broke a piece on the sight. They offered to pay the
    shipping to and from them or send me the part at no charge. Had the part in 2 day's. I have dealt with several customer services and the only better or just as good is Vortex optics.

I went to adjust 3rd axis...I was using my vise and turned the bow down to a 45 degree angle and my bubble was all the way to the right side. So I started turning bolt and the suggested 1/2 turn of that bolt got me super close to the middle but not perfect. Think it’s ok to turn it a hair more to get it centered or just do the recommended 1/2 turn? I went back and checked 1st, and 2nd a is and they were perfect.

    For me I see absolutely zero point in a 20 yard pin especially for elk hunting. Impact difference of maybe 3” for most set ups. I run 30, 40, 50 if 3 pin. Hogg father for the ability micro everything and the ability to use the etched tape to help sight in even better especially if you make your own tapes!

    I have been thinking of getting the black gold pro site this video couldn't have come at a more perfect time ...when the pro sight is extended all the way out and you shoot does the bow have extra noise

      I just got a Black Gold Pro 3 pin I had it extended all the way out on my TRIAX and there was no noise I moved it back 1 notch just as my preference. Overall I love the sight. I found instructions on setting a bit lacking but found videos to help out. Overall I'm very pleased with it and would absolutely recommend it as a sight

    • @2ndAveScents
      @2ndAveScents 3 года назад

      Most people feel like it clutters up the sight picture a little too much, and you don’t need 5 pins to be effective if you set up a 3 properly.

    I have a 5 pin Black gold pro. I'm pretty new to archery and I'm finding the pins adjustments are actually kind of a pain in the ass. Almost to the point that I wonder if my sight is malfunctioning. For instance if I loosen the screws to adjust the 30 pin and click the dial down, I can see it does not move.. It will take 4 or 5 clicks before it starts to move, and then when I tighten the screws again, you can see the pin move back up! Super annoying. Have you or anybody dealt with this?

    • @ElkShape

    • @ryanstewart1803
      @ryanstewart1803 3 года назад +1

      Read the instructions. Loosen the body screw three turns that controls whatever pin you want to move, loosen the pin 1/4 turn then micro adjust away. I had the same issue when I first got the black gold pro. Once you figure that out you'll never go back.

  • @rickpeterson6350

    How can you score the Black Gold a 9.5 for Durability when you broke it hunting. You had to go to your back up bow, because the Black Gold failed you... (even if you misused it, it still broke during your hunt) An honest Durability score would be 5 or lower. Imagine you were a hunter without a "Back up Bow" Your hunt would have ENDED because the sight failed. I appreciate you telling us you are "supported" by Black Gold, but that support has biased your review even it was a subconscious influence. All decision are based on Trade-Offs. Durability versus weight. Price versus quality. No sight is perfect and will never be perfect, but scoring these sights with only 8,9 and 10s is not very informative.....even if it is lucrative.
