Your enthusiasm is contagious and I’m so happy for you getting such an early start (and a little envious lol). Looking forward to watching the progress 😊
I am in Saskatchewan and I’m excited for the season. I’m not a flower farmer never will be but I absolutely love to grow cut flowers. I would grow everything if I could. Love following your journey. Thanks for sharing.
My husband got some of those big water containers for a garden we had. He built a platform for each one & the water flowed very well with just gravity.
We have a battery pump that we use for our water containers because not everything gets drip irrigation, and gravity isn't enough to water a full acre, unfortunately. :P
Very happy for Green Bee!!! I'm learning what to grow in zone 8b, we are having unusual warm weather conditions as well! I'm trying some new marigolds, they love the best here! I'm in North Central Florida! We did get three days of 22 degree weather and I lost some things hurt overall, good! I have seen volunteers of Zinnias, Sunflowers, Cosmos and Marigolds spring up in January so I direct showed lots so far!!! Only wish I could have Tulips, Ranuculus as beautiful as yours!!!
I’m not terribly worried. I think March will stay seasonal (looking at the long range). We had a thaw out like this a few years ago as well, and it was still a normal season. As long as the April showers still happen, I’ll be happy.
Very happy to hear that you are going and making exciting changes this year. In Alberta here and has been unseasonably warm for February I do know that will not last I hope things will stay nice for you. I love foxglove I am starting to get into flower farming 1st year with them being poisonous is their a market for them? Bought a bunch of 1st year blooming foxglove seeds they where amazing last year when I tried them.
I love foxglove! It’s such a great floral for events. We won’t have any ridiculously cold weather anymore now. It’s supposed to hover around freezing, but the corms and things in the hoophouses will be just fine. ☺️
Hi, I just realized we are in the same growing zone. It has been a very mild winter this year for us too. Can you share the story of how you acquired all that land...did you acquire it after growing in your yard awhile or have you always grown on that plot? You are so lucky to have that land! Good luck with the hoophouses!
Of course! We actually started on the Sinclair Drive plot (dahlias) after developing a friendship with the owner at our farmer’s market. The second plot (the Olde Drive one - where the hoophouse is) came about because the owners of that land also run the local sweet corn stands. We were selling our bouquets there and needed more room to grow. And so we have an indefinite land-use agreement with them. We definitely recognize how lucky we are - but are also really thankful to have relationships with those farmers because we’ve learned so much from them!

So excited for you! We still have almost 2 ft of snow in my part of Alberta.

I'm developing a soft spot for marigolds. I have no idea what your zone likes, so best of luck! I look forward to hearing about what you learn! xx
Wow no snow. It is unseasonably warm for this time of year, I fear what March is going to bring.

Looks like you changed your logo...very pretty
Yes! Thank you!
Good morning! Please give poor Kaitlyn a putty scraper, unless she loves to get her hands in the dirt! 😂
She has one. 🤷♀️🤣

I think you would benefit from. Fuzzy covered microphone! Can’t hear you in the wind.😢
I have one - I'd forgotten it and hadn't realized how breezy it was until after.
