      personally its my favorite Batman game of alltime, and I'm born mostly in N64-NGC-PS2 era, but I still have a working NES with a few games that I do enjoy. the game is a fun side scroller but is mercilessly hard...needless to say the music in this game is more memorable than in most modern batman games

    • @Z95HeadHunter
      @Z95HeadHunter 7 лет назад +14

      slightly unrelated, but Batman Returns (the movie) was originally going to have a sequel, a third TB Batman movie would have been great, apparently Joker was going to return, and so was Cat Woman, but people complained that it was too dark and violent so instead.....we got the Batman Forever movies....
      Imagine this kind of flashy badass music ON SNES, a third Batman game based on the third movie could have been amazing. I really want to hear this in 16-bit now!

    There was nothing like switching on the NES on a Saturday morning as a kid and playing through an entire game. Even if the game froze or you got your ass kicked, you just accepted it and restarted the game. I really think that taught me a bit of patience and discipline. We now live in an age of instant gratification and expecting everything for nothing. Times sure have changed - nothing will ever beat the 90s. They were the golden years.

  • @adamdesanti6713
    @adamdesanti6713 7 месяцев назад +6

    For NES, this is a very strong composition. It's like a mini-song. Tragic minor-key, fitting for the subject material. A 4-phrase(!) intro. Nice chord progression and interesting melody for the verse. And a chorus climax that almost repeats. Very driven tempo, like a locomotive. It even has an outro before it loops. Not an expert but I'd rank it as one of the best Stage themes ever composed for NES. That the sound team was able to extract this from a limited channel and sound producing system is extraordinary. I mean, I hear a bass-line, drum-line and a complex sounding echo melody in the chorus.

    That is very true. I have a group of friends. Out of them, I am the only one who does not love FPS, and two more do enjoy good games once in a while. Also, something seems to be missing from a lot of new games: Difficulty and needing to think. All my COD friends hate Minecraft, yet the ones who have mixed opinions enjoy it. Is it me or are people losing the will to think and be creative. Not even build your own stuff, but find a way around a given puzzle. All people want now is to blow shit up.

    the old music is better because it was all unique to the company...now a days it's all orchestrated by the same programs or done in the same fashion....you had to be really creative back then and it could be interpreted different as to what beep and blip was the instrument you wanted it to be...Perfect example, I have not enjoyed Mario music since Super Marioworld, it lost it's up beat tempo and tone...Galaxy music is prime example of how more does not mean better.

    Now, I mainly love retro games, and definitely consider this to be a good one... but Call of Duty (including its Modern Warfare variant) are far better than this. And no, I'm not being a graphics whore, there's a lot more to do in CoD.
    CoD is not a perfect game by any means at all, but compared to a linear game like Batman for the NES, it's a lot better. With CoD you can do a ton of stuff (like multiplayer splitscreen); whereas Batman is a linear and repetitive game.

    @DougB541 Yeha, I think you're right. Batman serviced its purpose for its time. I never beat the game, it's so hard. But it was from an era when you, the gamer, got so much satisfaction out of doing your best. I do wish we had achievements to brag to our friends back in the day. Modern achievements are cool and are great for bragging rights, but those of us from that period will always remember the anonymous joy we received when our struggles paid off.

    i have many friends who is playing skyrim.. and i must say that it took up much of their time.
    i am no a mainstream guy that follows thae crowd.. i make my own opinoinons about games, but i think that is is good, and that it scores good on all the aspcts

    not you, everything after 2005 has been going downhill on the dificulty department on "mainstream" game, if you ask me its kinda hilarious because before they were clearly the hardest games on their old days (cept for probably mario & others :/).

    You people are crazy if you think this was a good Batman game. Maybe a good platforming game, but not a good Batman game. This was just another generic sidescroller game that happened to have Batman in. The Arkham games are the definitive Batman games.

    @SyBabyProductions Agree completely. Doesn't matter what game it is, modern games can't compare with the older ones... Yeah, better graphics, sound effects etc but that doesn't matter to me

    @Johnlindsey289 yeah, TAS rocks, and because it was inspired in Burton's Batman.
    My bet about Dark Knight Rises is, Batman will still be an idiot and catwoman will kick his ass.Time will tell.

    much better than robocops music. movie games have good music at time 1989 at this is one of them. this was a very challenging game, this music was also used on stage 5 as well.
