how can the film be transphobic when peter/angela never chose that for themself? wasn't the child, in fact, the subject of abuse? strange how people will judge the past as though the past could have possibly known what our standards now would be. i see no hate or dispersion being cast by the film, certainly not at angela, who i feel the film is sympathetic towards the entire time.
I do think using the fact that someone has different genitals than expected for shock value is .... not great from a modern standpoint, but I also know a lot of people view the movie from a pro-trans lens because Peter/Angela (I’ll just say Angela and she for ease because she’s Angela in the sequels) ends up realizing who she is on her own terms and not letting what was done to her by her aunt define her. I’ve also seen it viewed from the lens of Peter being forced to transition (if you view Peter as a cis boy) mirroring the experiences of trans people who are forced to live as their assigned gender at birth. I’m not trans so someone please correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think the movie was made with any ill intent.
There’s a quite a few ways to look at it. For one, there is a harmful stereotype against the trans community involving this idea that they coerce children are into “becoming trans.” There’s also the trap stereotype where trans people lure members of the opposite sex and “trap them” when it’s revealed that they’re not cisgendered as the other person believed. Those are just the ones that come to mind, but those are the readings I’ve heard about from some trans friends who are into horror.

Willy Kuskin, who plays one of the bullied campers, was genuinely bullied by the other kids during filming. Frank Trent Saladino, who played a camp counselor, had to step in when the other cast members took things too far Felissa Rose (Angela), Karen Fields (Judy), and Katherine Kamhi (Meg) were actually all quite close during filming. Katherine Kamhi said the scene where they throw Angela into the water was hard for her to shoot for that reason. This is Mike Kellin's final film. He was sick during filming, but did his best to conceal it. He died of lung cancer in August 1983, three months before the film's release. The film became an unexpected hit, and something of a cult favorite for horror movie buffs. It made 30 times more than what was spent on it. Jonathan Tiersten was given the role of Ricky after an unusual audition in which writer-director Robert Hiltzik asked Jonathan to curse him out. Felissa Rose's debut. Karen Fields's debut. Katherine Kamhi's debut. The climactic scene was accomplished using a nude man wearing a mask cast from Felissa Rose's face. The thin man who stood in for Angela was a college student who needed to get drunk before he was able to do the scene. Though originally uncredited, it has since been revealed that the identity of Angela's body double was Archie Liberace. It is his first and only screen credit. A shot of dead Judy was cut by the MPAA for being much too grisly. For Artie's severe burn sequence, the actor was propped up on a fake floor and underneath, liquid gelatin was pumped through the blisters giving the impression that they're pulsating. If you don't count the opening scene, or the scene where Artie barely survives being scalded, then the first victim in the body count doesn't die until 34 minutes into the film. There are clues hidden throughout the film that allude to Angela's real identity. For example, Angela refuses to swim in the lake with the other campers, and at one point, Judy asks why she always showers alone. Aunt Martha said, "Just be careful not to tell anyone how you got [your physical exam]." The paramedics who carry away Artie the cook were real-life paramedics from a nearby town. Rare is the slasher whose victims are almost all between twelve and fifteen. Also, a couple of people get attacked but not killed, which is also rare for a slasher. Felissa Rose said in an interview that she wore a bra designed to keep her breasts "flat as a board," though she joked that she was only 13, so there wasn't much to flatten. Felissa Rose does not speak her first line until 31 minutes into the film.

Ricky is so feral, lmao. He was constantly ready to FIGHT. I actually watched this movie for the first time around a year ago. I really liked it and the twist was interesting. It just shows how much people on social media don't care about effort but more on a short video you just get over within a minute. Just saying. Loving your content and keep it up Edit: I think sleepaway camp is a better Friday the 13th than the original. Because the original was a bit slow and boring. While this makes me keep guessing and also has a better ending.
Good point. The first Friday tries to have a twist but cheats by not introducing the killer until the last act! Of course we're not going to guess who the killer is, if we've never met the character. Lol I love the Friday series but I think Sean S. and Victor Miller are both hacks! Thankfully Steve Minor took over directing for parts 2 and 3. Part 2, 4 and 6 are my favorites. Cheers.

This one is odd. I really like it overall, but it's definitely not my favourite slasher. _Very_ interesting twist though, and I love how it just doesn't care and goes all out with the complete weirdness. The gore effects are fantastic, the orchestral score and the songs are great (I especially like Angela's theme which plays during the end credits, it's a great song) and the actors... err never mind... the kids are pretty decent actors for the most part and they were clearly giving it their all, but it's definitely... a mixed bag...
*"Eat shit and die Ricky"*
*"Eat shit and live bill"*

I thought with that hair... (taps finger on chin) Why, I was almost sure of it.
Fantastic episode as always. 555
Thanks!
Thank you Andy this made my day and I just finished my last final before I graduate from college on Monday. And you can see the body double of Angela in the background when they were going to swim.
You are so so funny. I just found your channel. will now binge watch you.
Time for your channel to glow up dear.
One of my favorites! I didn't have much supervisor as a kid and I saw this at an insanely young age for the longest time I thought it was just a fever dream I had! Thank you for the content ❣️
Thank you!
I am always sooo happy when I see a new Andy video
Thanks!
Keep this golden content coming bro. You are the only channel I have ever subscribed too. Do House on Haunted Hill one day...
Hey man, I've been watching your videos for about a year now. You deserve more on this platform. It just shows how much people on social media don't care about effort but more on a short video you just get over within a minute. Just saying. Loving your content and keep it up
Edit: I think sleepaway camp is a better Friday the 13th than the original. Because the original was a bit slow and boring. While this makes me keep guessing and also has a better ending.
True and thank you for the kind words.
@@StitchedTogetherPictures your 🤗 welcome.
Good point. The first Friday tries to have a twist but cheats by not introducing the killer until the last act!
Of course we're not going to guess who the killer is, if we've never met the character. Lol
I love the Friday series but I think Sean S. and Victor Miller are both hacks!
Thankfully Steve Minor took over directing for parts 2 and 3.
Part 2, 4 and 6 are my favorites.
Cheers.
Let’s go!!! Been waiting for this one for a while!
Lmao “that is my face while I watch Monday Night Raw” got me good 😂
5:54 That is the best South Park reference ever! 😂😂
Thank you for this video Andy ,you are the best.
Thank you!
Happy Birthday, birthday buddy! Hope you had a good one!
Thank you and happy birthday!
Classic Horror Goodness & one the best twist endings in horror! I absolutely love this movie. I wish I could go back to see if for the first time to get that shocked as hell reaction to that awesome twist. Also I never thought that Angela was crushing on Judy. Totally 💯 Outstanding review Andy!
Thank you!
dang Andy you've done it again, I can't wait to see what you pull out next here's to seeing more of your crazy stuff
so happy to see a new review
This movie is absolutely amazing! I’ve loved this movie for years and Felissa’s character was someone that I connected with as a trans girl myself, and she is an absolute sweetheart in person. Thank you so much for highlighting this film!
Thank you!
Fantastic as always, Andy. But now I 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘦 you to do the others.
thanks for this review Andy, as I said before on your post about this coming to youtube, i never seen this film but you have given it a pretty good review and from what it looks like and your points I think ima have to find this film on dvd online somewhere, slowly starting up a classic horror movie collection myself recently.
Nice!
I've said it before ill say it again. After tattooing all day, dog tired, I like nothing more than to get home and see the three of you have fun with the reviews. Evil Andy cracks me up, but the fake tash got me going this time. Never seen this one but its on the list.
Nice and thank you!
The mustache gag got me bad. Lmao
Every video you make the more I want to watch more horror movies. Thankyou idol and always take care ❤🙏
Thank you so much!
Hell yeah ! love me some Andys movie reviews !
thanks Andy ..
on a serious note .. thank you for coming back and making videos after your 2 year absence, i was pretty worried about you causei saw you make a post about some nutjobs contacting you and your family IRL .. that is sick man .. its one thing to be a fan and maybe say "whats up" at a convention .. but to go as far as contacting people at their homes and even worse their family .. that is really sick.. just want you to know that the majority of your fans are sane and we love what you do for us making videos for our entertainment .. you rock dude ..
Thanks so much for the kind words!
@@StitchedTogetherPictures . No worries bro. Thanks again for the videos
"Oh, my God. They killed Kenny!"
"You bastards!"
I died laughing
I said that when watching the movie. Got a laugh from my brother
Hello, new subscriber.
It is definitely one of my 12 most favorite slasher movies of all time.
Good job on your review video.
I look forward to these videos every month. Hope you'll be in a position to do this full time soon🖤
Thank you! I’m getting there. As long as the subs and patrons keep growing.
Never forget the feeling I got after watching this the first time will always be one of the classics thanks for reviewing this one Andy
Thanks for watching!
This was so hilarious Thankyou Andy's for another brilliant review you never disappoint and always hit the mark.
Thank you!
I needed this video so much. Thank you Andy, Evil and Little Buddy.🐏🦹
Thanks for watching!
