Good point about using Forstner bits versus regular drill bits that will pull through the wood / epoxy. (Good decisions comes from experience which comes from making bad decisions :-)
Huh. I learned a few things, and that table is gorgeous. I've not seen your content before, and totally earned a subscribe (and full watch to the end!) I've had a bit pull through my project before when inserting inserts - next time, I'll use a forstner bit. I've also had inserts go in wonky, so I'll countersink next time. Thanks!
Dude... Dad jokes, d!ck jokes, good safety advice... this video has it all. Maybe you can sqeak in some unobtanium or "atom walks into a bar" jokes next time :) Fellow engineer here (mechanical) with almost 25 yrs on the clock, and a woodworker. Great video and project!
Just curious... Could you make the gears actually able to spin and create an epoxy case around them? So inside the epoxy part of the table be gears that could be turned.
I think you have a great voice. I hated the movie clips and skipped past them, lol. You talking was my favourite parts of the video. I love gears. Table looks awesome!
In the video you said the fractal burning machine creates enough voltage to stop your heart. Did you mean current? Sliding your feet on nylon carpet then shocking someone can be in excess of 30,000 volts. I’m a EE too. 😉
Not sure if this would work as I've never used a belt sander, but for the smaller pieces, could you hot glue a few of them to a board and send the board through it sanding multiple at one time? I know in the vid you said you enjoyed sanding but its always nice to have alternative avenues if the circumstances requires it. Anyways, loved the video and the table came out looking fantastic!
exactly my thoughts, hot glue, or super glue it on a large board to run it through the sander. I would have gone mad and thrown the pieces into the fire with all that sanding.
Its thicker and cures faster. So if there are holes in your mold, doesn't all leak out... first time. Second time was just so I could do the deep pour sooner.
I thought I was one of the last people to use that word. The original idea was motorcycle or cyclist gears and chains, but it attracted "brotherhood" or worse yet.... cyclists. The worst I get with wood is steam punks.
I would have suggested doing a gold or brass colour for the gears inlay. The green just makes it blend in, and in my unprofessional opinion, mutes the effect of the gears.
I love it. Using epoxy to do something a little bit different like casting objects in a table is probably my favorite thing.
So much more I want to try

Mistakes are the building blocks of the expert.
Amazing work table looks amazing also
Thank you!

Thanks for watching! And glad you learned something.

Great compliment. Thanks.
Thanks for doing this.
My pleasure!
God, I love sanding too. Sanding and polishing 😅
Brain healing

I think so. But I’d call that a fidget desk.

True, but all the current in the world isn’t going to hurt you at 12 volts. How about we agree it’s high voltage with significant current?

Great idea
The belt sander was pretty quick. Like a minute or 2 per piece.
Table looks GREAT. I'm curiuos why you pour the tabletop on the bottom (twice?), then do the deep pour? Is there a benefit to doing that?
Its thicker and cures faster. So if there are holes in your mold, doesn't all leak out... first time. Second time was just so I could do the deep pour sooner.
Very nice but can't say that I'm not disappointed that you didn't make the gears functioning...beautiful table though
Next time!
I'm so glad it isn't just another black epoxy table, thank you. 😂
If it isn't weird. I don't want to make it.
Agreed
Absolutely Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for watching
SUhc amazing work. Thí table looks cool 👏👏
Thank you! Cheers!
What do you use to make your moulds?, they seem to come apart so effortlessly when you need. New subscriber from Kampala!
Thanks for subbing! Polyethylene
Love it. And your advise
Thanks. Appreciate it!
I wish mine were that big...😂😂😂😂😂
don't we all
No man. A little commentary goes a long way
It does
Looks great bro! I made the vortext table with your design slightly modified on my channel if you wanna check it.
I'll check it out!
Sweet. Like a beer table
Steelers Gears, Stuck in the epoxy with you.😂😂😂
Classic
Or he sounds like you .. nice work
Thanks… looked him up… same pace different accents
@@screamingdonkeywoodwork similar conversation styles .. very funny keep up the good work chief
Since you hate the Steelers…now you have more shit to talk about John Malecki with! He played for the Steelers.
More like hobby hate
My useless opinion. It looks hokey with the wooden gears, metal gears would look great though

Hmm. I’d be worried it would disappear in the yellow wood
@@screamingdonkeywoodworkthen perhaps a silver. either way, great work.
You sound like aVe
Gotta look him up. Sounds pretty awesome 😎
