One of the most beautiful cars ever put on the road, in my opinion.. Back when manufacturers actually made cars similar to the ones you saw in racing at the time (or vice versa). An icon, in all aspects of the word. Long live the muscle car!
I remember when i was a kid i had a hot wheels car of the plymouth superbird, was one of the coolest things iv ever seen, and still today its my favorite car
I remember sitting in one at Chicago dealer ship, and my dad trying to talk my mom into it he even said she could hang laundry on wing. We ended up instead with a plum crazy purple roadrunner with 383 magnum awesome car and memories for a 6 year old nice video Thx keith
Some modern generations would dismiss this car as ugly etc... So sad, they have no idea how awesome these cars were. I lived the muscle car era, so I can appreciate all the beauty and monstrous nature of such cars. Long live the muscle cars !
I'm from England and have been fortunate enough over the years to own several of your early 70's muscle cars.....They are just simply outrageously beautiful! I swear the Ford designers of my lovely old white 351 1971 Mach 1, deliberately tried to get the rear window parallel to the road surface....totally useless feature, but who cares!
The Mach 1 was a tough looking car. Our XB falcon coupe was kind of modeled on the shape of the mach 1. You want to see parallel to the road rear windows check out the Aussie Falcon coupes. XA XB XC. Beautiful in all their beastly glory !
In the fall of 1972 I was a high school student in Grayling, MI. One Sunday evening about 6:00 pm, as the sun was beginning to set, the town was closed up and there wasn't a car parked downtown. And I mean not a single car, from Olson's Shoe Store all the way down to Chief Shoppenagon's Hotel. Then I turned left from Peninisular Street to walk toward the Rialto Theater and there parked in front of the post office was an orange Plymouth Roadrunner Superbird with that big high rear wing. It was the only car on the whole street. It was awesome. It was one of those cool, overcast fall evenings where the sun breaks through and creates a special glow. It made me wistful, kind of like a scene from The Last Picture Show. I was 16 then and I'm almost 64 now and I still have a crystal clear image of that car sitting there in little Grayling, MI. No one was near the car and nobody else was downtown, I was the only person around. It was amazing.
Ageed. That nose too though, it don't even look like it belongs to the same car. lol Give me a regular 69 Charger any day of the week over this fugly hot wheel.
Stunning car. One of the best looking muscle cars for sure. No other car like Superbird. I think the wing might be the most badass and best looking wing on a production car ever. :)
I have the most up respect for these cars and for those that grew up with these cars, but even if I could I’d never get one. 2010-2020 is my era of muscle cars and is what I’d buy
Sorry to tell you, but the cutouts on the fenders were not there to release trapped air. The cutouts were a carry over from the Nascar version. Plymouth realized that the down force on the track was so great that it caused the fenders to rub on the tires and led to premature tire wear. They really have no function for the street version, other than to match the race car.
For me as a Mpar guy, my favorite video yet. The first video where you actually see how cheap they were made, of course, this is not a luxury car, i´ve "learned" a lot about the complete Mopar Muscle and especially the Iacocca era´s after 1980. But i´m just saying, the dash, door panels, gap dimensions....everything´s just functional and very cheap. Very cool that you found one nice Superbird, i really like that it´s almost plain, includeing the column shifter, Thanks Kyle!
whoever owns this car needs to take care of it it needs work did you see all that rust!? that and it has a belt squeak when you rev it it gives me the chills to think of it
***** No I know lol, I was just staying it's almost pointless to complain about anything lol. other guys comment was completely useless and ignorant, but saying anything about how you can say your opinion will lead to them saying the same.
I take it this car came from factory without nothing less than the standard power brakes and steering with 440 6bbl and auto....A base line 43yr old American car that can do 180+mph..... !!!
very happy to see you post the unusual and exotic. the effort to research the nuances of each car are fully appreciated. when your career is in full swing, please do not forget us. i always look forward to seeing your videos!
I love these old cars, but I could never drive one. No power windows? No remote access key fob? No bluetooth? No backup camera or GPS? No rain sensor wipers? The stone ages man. The stone ages. Chrysler needs to come up with a modern version of the Roadrunner (or I guess it would be a Demon, since the Dodge nameplate survives but Plymouth is long gone). That worked out really well for them with Charger and Challenger.
Kyle Dexter this is a pure car, all them extra electronics and features are just extra, I also don't see how you could need a backup camera that bad, I mean you got mirrors, a torso, and a neck.
+george jordan Chrysler has the strongest best firm shifting transmission ever, the 727..These will spin in 2nd gear, bone stock..1-2 shift is at 50 and it then it chirps your at 60 mph plus....you can leave 1 foot or more patch of rubber where it shifts....I had several original never rebuilt MOPAR's and that's what they do and did....When brand new /bone stock !
you got to appreciate olders cars, everyone has a different opinion. as for me i love and appreciate older cars, and this super-bird is a prime example why i love cars that are older than me.
Try telling that to the trolls who hate on saabkyle04 and this car. I personally think that the charger Daytona and super bird are the sexiest looking muscle cars.
I got the chance to see one of these at the Food Lion Auto Fair at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Beautiful car, and it was flawless. Looked pretty much the same as this one.
kyle, you have been my favorite subscriber on youtube. I am a car fan too, and i have watched alot of your vids.Like this one i watched. You have been a hero to me.Keep up the good work.:]
One of the most beautiful cars ever put on the road, in my opinion.. Back when manufacturers actually made cars similar to the ones you saw in racing at the time (or vice versa). An icon, in all aspects of the word. Long live the muscle car!
I agree, it is a special car. Absolutely stunning. No other car like the Superbird. :)
Expect the Daytona charger
They still make the Dodge Challenger
Ha, they didn't sell well at all when new. Hard as hell to imagine high octane fuel dirt cheap, them days gone gone.

2:28 - Many Japanese import cars had this horn!
This has to be one of my favorite cars. Thanks for this!
I'd rather have this than a ferrari day of the week. and that horn is amazing!
👍🏻
+James Bomb agree
Agreed
I would have this over many Ferraris too, but when top notch of their stuff like the f40 and f50 comes into play then i'll take the ferrari...
Matt A 🤣 that’s what I thought

Royalbigness Yeh, your quite right, your Falcon is a great looking beast and no mistake!
Royalbigness great job stereotyping gramps
So you're the typical punk I speak of then.
And no, not a grandfather either. Put that one up your nose. I feel sorry for you.
Geez, this review is SO SIMPLE it's GREAT!
No smart key access?
its a 1970 XD
its a 1970 smart key access came available in the 80s
+Ian McDermitt i also have a feeling he was joking XD
Guys, I'm joking. Lol
+MrSaxmanJones i figured that XD

Killer Keemaronie Muscle Car Fan Spotted

the coolest classic muscle car ever! the colour fits it perfectly.
Stunning car. One of the best looking muscle cars for sure. No other car like Superbird. I think the wing might be the most badass and best looking wing on a production car ever. :)
the Dodge daytona is very similar.
In my opinion the TRD Supra wing looks cooler.
Ethan Young But the TRD is an aftermarket wing right?
+Olli Jokinen No, it is an extra opinion for the Supra's and such.
Ethan Young Can you prove it? Because I'm pretty sure I've heard and read that it is an aftermarket part. :) I could be wrong tho
I have the most up respect for these cars and for those that grew up with these cars, but even if I could I’d never get one. 2010-2020 is my era of muscle cars and is what I’d buy
please tighten up the loose alt belt . Gorgeous ride!
And throw a drop of oil on the hinge pins
I adore the simplicity of the interior as well as the engine bay!😍😍😍Mopar or no car!!!💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

HAHAHAA omg you're so right.
He sounds like Ray Romano.
Thankyou for showing respect for the history of the car.
Allot of reviewers I watch make fun of old cars and only care about the fancy new ones.
you have the best job
My favorite classic car of all time
my favorite car ever
thanks Kyle!! this and the grand national are my favorite american classics!!
Oh my god what a car. I love this and the Charger Daytona.
I love the "beep beep!" I want a 1971 Roadrunner and this is one of the reasons why
Chrysler paid royalties to Warner brothers for the road runner sounded horn
Such a beauty! I love new vintage cars!
I Love Road Runners!!
Great review for a great motoring legend Saabkyle04!!
More classics. Less newer crap. Great car, Kyle! Keep them coming! :D
I always love the camera intro that you do when it's a special car x,D
Still take this over any Lambo or Ferrari any day of the week. TRUE AMERICAN MUSCLE
only people who can't afford a lambo or ferrari say that
@@Purebliss007 no, people who have a different taste in cars say that
William Spearshake this would probably go for the same price as a Gallardo or 360
lmfao that's funny
Thank you saabkyle for this video . My all time dream car gang

Sick, man. What a piece of automotive history. Thanks.

Great review as always Kyle....Keep em coming.
America doesn't make shit anymore, how sad
+I'd Still Smash dodge /chrysler was bought out by fiat from what i was told.fiat owns Mercedes, Ferrari and Maserati as well .
I'd Still Smash sad but most likely true
They always made shit cars that had style over substance.
European cars > American cars.
T'was always thus.
Just about everything.
Love this car! Epic wing
Ewwww an automatic in THAT?!
george jordan Well, a version with the A833 was available. That's what I'd probably end up doing, is a manual swap. And faceplating the gears.
+george jordan Chrysler has the strongest best firm shifting transmission ever, the 727..These will spin in 2nd gear, bone stock..1-2 shift is at 50 and it then it chirps your at 60 mph plus....you can leave 1 foot or more patch of rubber where it shifts....I had several original never rebuilt MOPAR's and that's what they do and did....When brand new /bone stock !

george jordan what the hell is wrong with automatic?
fastest cars on the planet are automatic...
perfect car and perfect color to go with it, i am pretty sure i will never even see one of these beauties but it still is my dream car
I can't stand this guys voice.
