yup. A lot of this is due to the unique design of the ps3 and how it had many cpu cores, requiring devs to optimize the code to fully utilize all the cores, something that took a lot of work if you hadnt designed the game from day 1 with the multi-core stuff in mind. Its why a lot of ports for the ps3 just didnt run as well as on the xbox360 despite the ps3 having more overall power, the code is just not designed to run well with the console.@@LoweysLitsman
One of the reasons why this level caused me pain. Sonic would go so fast that I would lose control of him sometimes and hit a wall or the rocks. That running on water part was pain.
When I saw the fps counter jumping like that I thought "this guy's pc seems not powerful enough for a stable 60fps on rpcs3", then I realized this is just benchmarked on a PS3 itself 😂
im so happy this game can be played on an Xbox Series X at 60fps with no frame drops, it's increidble how it took 2 extra console generations for this game to be able to run conistently at 60fps. My poor ass has only three options, the OG PS3 (where it drops to 20fps when the Xbox 360 would drop to 25-28fps, and it hitting 60FPS like 5% of the time), the Xbox One S (where's it's basically the Xbox 360 version but it's a bit better with framerate), or emulate it on my PC that was outdated the moment I bought it, where I can only hit a consistent 20-23FPS with input delay at a native 1280x720 patch instead of the 880x720 original and with better colors (and that's on Xenia, RPCS3 ran at like 15FPS, though at a native 1080p, so basically if the actual PS3 version ran at 1080p).

It’s a shame this game had to be released on this hardware.
