New Year's days are to Japanese most important calendar day. To begin a New Year people pray and wish Happiness, Health and Wealth to him/her self, family, community, Nation, World. Majority go to Shinto Shrine, some go to Buddhist temples. We want to keep clean cut living (spiritually) so we clean up debts, house, office, school at the end of December, ready to welcome New Year. They go to Shrine of their choice, as there are endless number of Gods in Japan!
Most of Asian religion has multiple gods, unlike Christianity, Judaism, or Islam that have almighty single god. In Japan we have (supposed to) 80,000 gods and deities and not necessarily "almighty" they are but each has some speciality.....So, in this case, we must know the name/location of this shrine(She did not explain). This shrine seems very popular so many prayers visiting on New Year Days. But, everybody wishes for HAPPINESS throughout the New Year.
"Many Asians dislike Japanese" ?? Korean, Chinese, Whos other?? I am Japanese, and I feel sorry for the WW2 victim. But hey!your comment is not related this video. I feel so sad when I read that kind of comente. And I thought you Americans were friend now...

many japanese people wear face masks when they're ill or don't want to be ill, it prevents the spread of disease and is a common sight in japan:3
@moriah878 i think it's either to avoid the pollution or diseases that may be spread through the air. BTW her english is damn cute
Rei,have you done a house tour? If not,can you? ^.^
